you look smart but we all know that to do something there qe square cut at 45 ° this profile is more detailed and well depends as you avoid spending soldered to the grinder! but great job;) I work as a welder. I hope to serve you From Argentina.
you should of used angle iron for the bracing too! its stronger and more reliable instead of flatiron just to the outter edge when angle iron would go all the around it on the inside.
@tombojuk I know it's not my wire, I used Lincoln wire but my welds look like bird droppings. I was using low amp setting on my Harbor Freight Flux core welder and feed speed of 5. Do you have any thoughts? I'm new to this so most welds look better than mine, including this young man. Thanks.
@wtam69 when im welding i dont pay any attention to the wire feed speed and the amps its just something that you get the feel for with experience. we also only use flux cored wire for specialist armor plating jobs that require us to, most of the time we use plain mild steel wire with argoshield gas.
there are good videos on youtube that will help you pick up the basics but it takes practice to get nice looking welds. look at the comments on the videos you watch before you listen to them
@chevyvictor imperial is a terrible habit where I'm from. You're the only person who speaks it, and it's not very functional. We're in the stone age. Give us more shit, though. Eventually, we'll get over this STUPID measurement system! STUPID! I've hated this crap since I learned about the metric system.
Glad to see a young man, doing much more than watching TV and playing video games, and its always good to see a fellow welder... Thanks for adding and inspiring others.
Good beginner project. As a tip for future projects, invest in a couple of differently sized welding magnets. They're those arrow-shaped magnets, usually red. You can pick them up cheap at Home Depot, but get them even cheaper at Harbor Freight and they work just as good. They are wonderful tools to have for holding metal in place for you.
Here's a tip when MIG welding. Weld by making small "e"s and adjust your current accordingly. 1/8" you should be around 125A and you really should grind off that miss scale. MIG will work a lot better when the metal is clean where you are welding and at your ground point. If your voltage and wire feed are correct and your using small "e"s, your weld will be flatter and no need to weld.

Welding with continuos loops is not always necessary. But sometimes a loop or side to side weave helps to make sure that the weld pool has wetted out the two parts being welded together. Usually used as a root pass on pipe welds.
@lucky51762 Thanks for taking the time to comment, appreciate it. Don't know why the hell I went to the trouble of grinding the welds on something like this, complete waste of time. Don't do it. This table was built for use instead of looks.
For my recent projects, custom bobber builds, I grind everything save for a few spots where the welds add character to the finished project.
Also, as a certified welding inspector, do you believe it is bad practice to draw continuous loops with the wire to get the stacked dime look? I have heard both that it is a good way to weld and that it is a terrible way to weld, working on coming to a conclusion on my own but so far unsuccessfully.
@RCexperimental I am not an inspector, but to me its totally up to the welder you may make u's little circles, cursive e's, and waves its whatever you can make look the best without taking the strength away.
@RCexperimental Taking the time to do the proper weld is what matters, mastering the technique will produce a text book weld, mig unfortunately allows non-weldors to "attach" metal together by melting, they are not weldors.
Try turning up your heat one notch the weld should lay flat and not be humped up in the middle. Looks like it is going to be a nice, functional table. Good job!!!!!!

Would have been better if you cut the ends of the angle iron to 45 degrees, then it would fit together to make 90.

You never mentioned how wide the angle iron is,,only thickness,,,You know 2x2x3/16.

@wtam69 Up the amperage to get the feed wire to pool. Also don't forget if you have the feed rate too high you will get build up.

@tiksop Up the amperage. Yes, I'll try that. I was afraid to up the amps because the pieces I was welding were pretty hot already. Thanks.

Good beginning project.
Good job. good welding technique.
In the future try to avoid grinding the welds.
I structural welding grinding of welds is not allowed.
The shape of the weld bead is what gives strength to the weldment.
