  • lol!!!!! why is it that most of the people commenting are clarinet players?

  • I'm in 8th grade and I'm playing this as first chair clarinet. Beautiful song!!!! :D

  • @ryanandblake77

I'm SECOND clarinet and its EASY!

  • My high school is playing this for our christmas concert and the guy its dedicated to is our old band directors father and him and James Swearingen are both most likely gonna be there

  • @PhiyreBahl It IS middle school music. I played it in my spring concert.

  • I play clarinet and I'm playing this song for our high school/junior high band. It's not exactly a hard piece, but I will admit it sounds very nice and is a very fun piece. =]

  • Love the Barri sax part in this, especially the beginning.

  • I'm playing the clarinet part for my school :P

  • I totes played the Timpani part for this...until I realized that I played tamberine for this piece and not Timpani. |D That Tamberine part /sucks/, but otherwise, the percussion for this piece is so ridiculously fun. <3

  • This song was so fun to play on Tbone

  • Invicta, Majestia, and Centuria. They sound like a series that should be combined to make a piece of epic proportions.

  • @highwire97 Yeah but you would have to have the lips of a god to play that amount of epicness without tiring out lol

  • @randomrandomnesss tru dat

  • sounds a bit like majestia?

  • I am playing this right now. It is SOOOO pretty!. I hope we play it in concert

  • First time I heard this, I though it was from a Pokemon game.

  • played this on Bari Sax :) lots of fun

  • OMG! PIKACHU'S EVOLVING!!!

  • i played the alto sax solo on this and it was amazing

  • Wow... I played this in 7th grade band!

  • I played this on the glockenspiel in marching band during my senior year in high school.

  • I had to play this at glenville state honor band this ear. The trombone part is my favorite as seeing thats what i played.

  • Invicta is definitely a lot like a piece called "Centuria" ( I believe that's how it's spelled: I haven't seen it in a long time) Both pieces are fantastic!

  • Invicta certainly is a memory for me. I played it my Freshman year on Flute, read it on piccolo my sophmore year, and played it on Bass Clarinet for Junior year. It's a favorite with my band director. As is "Of Pride and Celebration."

  • @shootingxstarx - was ur concert at Port Credit Secondary School cuz I played this exact song on Thursday at port credit

  • Is this music supposed to be hard?

  • @Roogman5000 pretty sure its middle school level music

i don't think its exactly the hardest thing ever

  • @PhiyreBahl i played it freshman year(alto sax)(its easy)

  • @PhiyreBahl I am a freshman in newfane high school and a trumpet player and we played this. It was not to hard but not the easiest especially at about 5:30 when we are playing those high F's and you can't breath very long in between them.

  • @Roogman5000 no its like level 3

  • @Roogman5000 no not at all,,,it basicalli is middle school music

  • so cool i play this song right now and i am in 6 grade and i know it by heart i learned it in 1 day

  • @leehillmer good for you

  • @leehillmer if you learned it in one day, then you must be really crappy. this is a hard song to play.

  • Played this in 6th grade... We got the standing ovation while the Symphonic Band that travels round the world didn't xD

  • I loved playing this piece. The tenor sax part was so repetitive; fun playing with the band was fun but, it was a drag to practice alone.

  • lol seeing some of the posts on here reminds me of performing this very piece over 20 years ago for competition. i absolutely love swearingen's pieces!

  • awsome song the malet percussion part is amazing

  • I love lpaying it on french horn

  • were playing this song for like 5 concerts this spring/summer XD

  • compare this with Majestia, almost all of his music follow that eight note after quearter note then onto eighth note, they all pretty much are remixes of each other if you think about it,.

  • Ohhhhhh. That's what it's supposed to sound like.

  • 0:23 i swear thats the tune from Super Smash Brothers

  • i love playing this with everyone on my flute every day its extremely uplifting <3

  • This sounds lower than what is on the music...

  • @iamghost4ever I'm first chair Trumpet

  • Yeah i admit it is a great piece but not everyone is going to love it so no offense but piss off cos its their opinion not yours

This is an epic song im playing it for band!!! thanks for posting it!!!

our band teacher plays this for us to hear what it sounds like!!!

  • how are there 2 dislikes

people just don't like classical music

    there missing out on this

  • this sounds like a piece which was composed for a japanese samurai tv show in 1970s ; )

  • playing the flute part for this hurts your head like crap. this is gonna be a fun few months playing this song xD great song though. glad i'm getting the opertunity to take it to competition

  • No it does not I play it but the Piccolo part does especially when you sit next to the person that's playing it...

  • @fightergirl1997 well considering i've only been playing flute for about 3 years and there was about 35 flutes sitting next to/behind me, yea it hurt xD

  • @EmmyKRevolution if its a good flute section with 35 flutes then you barly have to play (dont have to blast)

  • @adrenalinejunkie821 Try telling that to the sea of 7th graders. I truley think they've completly forgotten how to play softly

  • @EmmyKRevolution playing an instriment is not just blasting sound out!

  • @adrenalinejunkie821 xD thanks xD

  • @adrenalinejunkie821

DAMM that's a lot of flutes...

  • No the piccolo part hurts if you sit next to the person that plays it... OWWWWW

  • @EmmyKRevolution if you practice you will get used to it

  • @EmmyKRevolution I play percussion :3

  • I'm conducting this :) It's pretty bad ass xP it does kinda sound like a pokemon song

    Really like James Swearingen =)

  • really similar to majestia

  • Song sounds good but... alot of James Swearingens peaces sound alike, after listening to Majestia, the similarities between them are really great Lol. Gets tiring after a while

  • AH! I loved this when we played it last year! I don't remember what we played it for...mayeb it was my seventh grade year? can't remember. lol~ I played cymbals and tambourine and bass! lol~

  • I played this in high school, as well as many other songs by james swearingen. He was my favorite.

  • I play clarinet,

  • uuuuuhuuulll.....!!!!!! mó tesão de música!

  • a famuta arrasou no Mundial com esta musica mto show parabens

  • i played this song and i love it!!!! i wish i still have the sheet music for it):

  • I, when I was in 8th grade, played violin in the Middle School band...there was no orchestra. I believe I did a piccolo or some other wind part on Swearingen's Novena.

If you need a violin part, you may try writing your own part...work with your conductor.

  • @v10lini5t19921993 wowz im in high skewl an im the only violinist cuz theres no orchestra so i play flute on piccolo =P im loookin 4 the sheet music 4 this =P its hard 2 find xD

  • is there a violin part for this?? im in desperate need for it im a solo violinist in a concert band and we are playing this song and i dont wanna play the flute part on my violin it sounds gay. if some1 knows where to find it plz tell me

  • @pikachuluver796 Can you hear violin in the song? I don't think so.

  • i played this song in 1992 for the woodlawn high school band in Birmingham alabama. I loved it then and i still love it.

  • what level of song do some of you people think this is? cause i am trying to find a lvl 5 or 6 song by james swearingen and am gonna try getting my band director to let the band play it lol! james swearingen is like, totally my favorite composer! :D

  • good song, very majestic, but I personally find novena more powerful and moving. probably has to do with that was the first swearingen piece i played.

  • @tucker386 nah this is my high school band playing LoLs

  • this is pros playing right?

  • When I played this in High School, the band director, at our concert, told the audience he liked this song because it reminded him of the TV advertisements for Pork: The other white meat!

  • La Honda Music Camp 1990-1991. Trumpet. Loved playing this.

  • I play the flute for this song! FLUTES FTW!!

  • @linkomaninac yes they do <3 flute

  • @lumpyjoe5 I am the only in my band to, but I am also the best player so it turns out all right! From one tenor to another, if you don't already know this, learn altissimo and your overtone series quickly. I played this piece in 8th grade and started above level five pieces in 9th and in most pieces we, the tenors, have the melody going from high Gish to un godly high altissimo! So goodluck!
