Thank you so much for posting this informative video. I've been interested in voice over acting for a while, but without any background it's been extremely helpful to find advice like this as a starting ground. The resources you've posted are also helpful, I may do a little more research and then call the evaluation line you mentioned! Thanks again!
@th3bff So you're just going to ignore what I said, aren't you. Why are you even watching this video if all you're doing is posting rude comments. Go watch Manners for Humans.
Thank you Dan, you really created something of value here to the beginning voice over talent out there. So many voice over professionals are afraid to put out any information they might not get paid for- to them this video would probably have a $50 price tag at least.
This is awesome to me, someone first considering VO after 20 years talking on the phone for a living, on two levels: One, the wealth of excellent advice in under 10 min. from an obviously seasoned veteran pro, delivered in an easy-to-understand, CONVERSATIONAL manner; and two, it's very encouraging--and this is meant with all due respect--that a person can succeed in this field despite having a vocal defect such as a pronounced lisp, if they have aptitude and perseverance. Well done, sir.
Funny that he has a speech problem and teaches about voice over...I don't agree on the part of "being yourself." Because there's ome ACTING involved! Check out my voice over on my channel! (Knights Of The Old Republic) I normally don't speak like that! I'm voice-ACTING on those videos...
Wow...did I need to see this video! I'm brand new to voice over and trying to get my career off the ground. Thank you so much for all this valuable advice, Dan! You can tell when you are hearing sound advice....because it all makes sense! I took a lot of notes of some of the key recommendations you make in this video and have pasted them into my vocal booth as a constant reminder. Thank you!

Thank you, Ive been out of the acting loop for about 3 years and was looking into maybe starting out with some voice over before I get back into full on acting again, your tips were very hepfull
Do you know any voive generators where you type text in and they speak it out proffecionally for you? I am making videos but sometimes my voice is hard to understand so this information would be very interesting to me ^_^ Thanks ;D
@MangoliPresents I know the Mac OS has a built in speech to text, but I've never used it before. Sorry I can't help more on this one! Let us know if you find anything good.
@MangoliPresents ivona - just google it, that's the best text to speech in existence, and you can do samples on their page. then you can actually record them on your computer, you don't have to actually buy it :)
@MangoliPresents AT&T's one is excellent research.att.com/~ttsweb/tts/demo.php and to get more, don't type "voice generator" but type "text to speech"
This vid has helped me SOOOOO MUCH!!! I Love this field of work and plan on pursuing it, and videos like these are truly helpful!! I will most definitely check out the website!!

hi are u a voice over teacher, cuz i would like training from u ,i live in melbourne so yer.i would like to do cartoon movies like toy story and shrek and also ads like for pro active and hair product ads .plez let me know if u can help me thx
Thank you for such a great video...................after watching numerous videos that are unhelpful YOURS comes as a breath of fresh air.....Thank you!
Excellent advice... not only do you know what you are talking about, you are able to teach others what you know.. Thanks for taking the time and effort to make this video!!!!
@apacheslim The only surefire way I know of is to speak in a low voice as much as you can. The downside here is that you'll cause permanent damage to your larynx. A famous example of this is Michael Dorn - he spent so long forcing his voice lower to play Worf, that it's damaged his throat and lowered his natural tone by 2 whole octaves.
I'm 17 years old I have a big deep voice and I'm would like to get into the voice over buisness where can I go or begin so I can be taken seriously?
