  • this isn't Gordon Lightfoot

  • I started dating my guy in May, and within 5 days, I realized that he was the one.

  • yes Jimmy is very much God loving man...and he rocks my world music wide..as well as the band...

  • May 5th......LOVE YOU

  • I know you love Jim Cuddy but this band really is so terrific. I love the drummer.

  • Hey how great is it to touch peoples lives with your music I love it and it is so real not commercial crap cheers.

  • Best song ever!! Blue Rodeo you ROCK!!!

  • Weird music. But its great. I like it.

  • I'm an old fan!

  • craig Kebler..........

  • @kodiak1966 - U2 is from Ireland and is a different genre. I think our musicians get plenty of international recognition. While it's true that radio music is empty pop, they still give plenty of airplay to empty Canadian pop like Avril, Simple Plan, Robin Thicke etc. Your rant is misguided.

  • I remeber these songs when i was young :) Im 26 now..I still get chills..:) especailly cuz i'm an ontarioan too..lol the video's remind me of MY town..I live in a small town..

  • This is my wedding song, one week from today!

  • just listened to another canadian original called " IN YOUR MIND by andrew gerbasi feat steve morrison. Have a listen if you get the time.

    cheers.

  • five days in may was my daddys fav song. he passed a couple yrs back. it hurts me so much but also makes me happy when i hear this. if that makes any sense at all...i love this song but it also hurts my heart when i hear it. i will continue to listen to this n remember my father until the day i am reunited with him

  • Jim you are God-like......

  • SOOOOOO COOOOOOOOL >:O

  • there better than shania and avril and the biebs.but still get no respect.

  • This was one of the first songs I heard when I moved to Canada in 1994, brings back great memories everytime I hear it.

From Spirit of the West to Great Big Sea I have embraced the richness that is Canadian, especially the music. :)

  • MEGA LIKE!!!

  • I had the privilege to see them twice at the Banff Center in the 90's two of my best concerts ever.......one of the few bands that are even better LIVE!!!!

  • The version by Salamander Crossing is good too (on the album Bottleneck Dreams)

  • srplow...ahem in return...and the reason is?K

  • The best thing about Cheri? She introduced me to Blue Rodeo and though she drove me nuts, I thank her.

  • @srplow and what would that be..bad taste? Why would anyone care whether or not the US likes this song or this band..if you're ears like it, and mine do, that's all that matters.

  • in my guesstimation, this is one of the best love song/ballads ever written and sung

  • @MrBuckwilliam id have to agree with you completely! this and One by U2 are stunning

  • @MrBuckwilliam lovers in a dangerous place by Barenaked Ladies is in that category too. They are canadian aswell!

  • Logan Couture!!!

  • There is a reason why the US doesn't pay attention. ahem.

  • one of the best bands ever !

  • I've loved this band forever.. still do.. <3 u Jim.. keep it comin'

  • this song i requested for louise dastou When i asked her to marry me and my name is ronald watkins

  • @gerturade1 she would have been a fool to say no after hearing this, thanks for the info ill choose the same song when its my time

  • What a great song!!

  • there should be millions of hits for this.god damn

  • @bubbah671 I agree . They are fantastic!!

  • Smooth, awesome song, beautiful lyrics, music cuts to the soul. severely underrated. bless my homeland for great muscians. From Jim Cuddy, to Ron Sexsmith. and many many others.

  • Whenever I start to miss my ex....I listen to this song

  • I have loved this band since the first time I heard them on "The Q - The Islands Rock". All of their songs come from a special time in my life. God Bless Them, Every One.

  • one of my moms favorite band, i see why.

  • I love it, but the EPIC guitar at the end of the full song is what i connect with so much it is just the best guitar i have EVER heard!

  • Cant live without these guys

  • i love blue rodeo from my teens and now i'm a gramma. they live in my heart. I met them in toronto here. I had laryngitis and couldn't talk a simple hello. It was the most deflating moment of my life.

  • Rain on the windshield headed south..EPIC

BUT we will NOT let you leave :)

  • we learned this song from this post I think It was. tks.

  • You Can Feel Canada In Every Tune.. From The Maples To The Pines...

    The Sound Of Canada!!!

  • this song reminds me of my uncle, he was more than a father than my real father, but unfortunatly when i was a lil younger he died 3 days before my bday, and was found on my bday.. i heard this song on the radio yesturday, and i cried hard, cuz this was one of his favourite song. i miss you <3333333 :(

  • This song is wrong for the video. way off

  • Great Canadian band they are,and that makes me proud in a patriotic way, knowing that as a young country we're very diverse in ethnicity and culture.

That said, the music is what makes all the difference and being able to notice and appreciate it is what makes it unique.A universal language that brings us all together.

    Amazing :)

  • I absolutely love this band. I met them outside the Magic Bag in Michigan and Jim Cuddy was so friendly. I had my picture takin with him and he hugged me so tightly. ☺ Love him! This song and the meaning behind it is so touching. I look forward to them coming to Michigan again soon!

  • I love BR, but you NEED to check out the version they did with Sarah Harmer. Chills!

  • The musicians that our country produces make me so proud to be Canadian. There's just a purity to the music that comes from our artists, it's wonderful.

  • I never thought I'd hear such amazing harmonica. It seems like such a rough sound but this guy makes it beautiful.

  • Driving to Manitoulin Island from Toronto I always listen to B. R. and can't stop thinking about the past 30 years...

  • Such a beautiful song . . and this guys voice . . makes a hole in your heart . . wow, such a great song!! I cry whenever I hear this one . . . . And, I know she knows why. . . just what could have been . . we will never know.

  • blue rodeo's music is classic!!

  • kurdtss, thanks for this great video. What a great song eh? (Can you tell I'm Canadian?). I think this album was from 1993 NOT 1994. In my opinion, their best album . My second favorite album is CASINO. Going to see them tomorrow night at the Molson Ampitheatre in Toronto. Looking forward to it!

  • I fukin love this band

  • this song is just very heart touching amazing song

  • Too bad they cut out the best part of the song (the guitar solo)

  • canadian musicians rock

  • JIm looks HOT in this video...

  • my absolute fave song!

  • Canada just rocks!

  • i totally love Blue Rodeo! they so good...goin to see them on the 7th at the Potatoe Festival...saw them ther last year and it was great..small little venue in an hockey arnea...AWESOME!!

  • @mizjennay1313 thats pretty awesome, i'll seeing them @ the potato festival as well, first time can't wait!!!

  • Listened to this song every Thursday night to get ourselves warmed up for our local pub. Was with my best girlfriend of 40 years who passed away at 56 one month ago. This is for you Deb with more love than anyone can have. Love Karen,

  • @neen2209 I totally forgot about some of these Blue Rodeo hits - they were VERY popular in the Seattle area, especially "Try", and I heard some of these songs on the radio20 years ago (oy, I feel so OLD!) and never put really even thought "oh, that sounded like Blue Rodeo"...

  • what was the name of hurricane? HURRICANEBRIKA--

  • dayum, they have a "like" selection. i think they should have a "LOVE" selection too... oh well, nothing can be as good as just being able to hear such fine tunage... i looked over your list and it is grrreat, thank you so much :)

  • find a face youve seen a thousand times,,,,,,,

  • oh she loved the lines around his mouth

  • so much better without the solo. the solo on the album is actually the worst guitar solo i've ever heard. i feel like you have to be trying to suck to play something that bad

  • @Kegofbeer I always turn the song off right as the solo starts. it kills me.

  • man, this song really reminds me of my dad

    love it

  • I listen to these guys when I go for a walk along the shores of lake ontario...I have seen them twice so far in small festival venues and they are amazing live. Every Canadian should see them at least once. I am so happy to be Canadian when there are bands like this to see.....saw them in Jarvis at the Cornfest with my wonderful husband and it was a beautiful magical night.the crowd sang to them and gave them nothing but love. One of the best concerts of my life.

  • reminds of days in Montreal

  • LOVE this song with my life.

even better that it doesn't have the annoying 3 year old's guitar solo.

  • This song gives me that feeling in your throat, it just gives you that vibe, but its a great feeling

  • Timeless

    Captures the essence of love

    Wonderful piece of musical work

  • Brilliant song. Thanks for posting!

  • He almost died coming in your store and hearing his music

and he will never ever forget it

  • love that voice...

  • every portion of this song amazes me (solo inc), THIS BAND IS CANADIAN CLASSIC, you are now listening to sounds that will be immortalized in canadian music....be appreciative of the fact that you are here to witness the birth of this sound!!!!! ........find the place you've seen a thousand times..........

  • jaime ste toune la ....

  • i love these guys and this song but the guitar solo they cut out was quite possibly the worst solo in modern music

  • i think your right on that one. great song

  • I am pleased this is the radio version. I dont like the guitar solo, its ok, not great and goes on forever. Blue Rodeo is fantastic though, this is one of my favorite songs.

  • This is an edited version of the song ;(. the full version has a very unique and powerfull guitar solo done by the very tallented Greg Keelor. Blue Rodeo I love ya and can't wait to see you in Edmonton in January! PLEASE PLAY THIS SONG LIVE!!

  • @MikeEST1977 I know its just a matter of opinion, but I hate that guitar solo, Im a guitarist and I'd be embarrassed to record something like that...

  • @jayh81 I have allways cringed at that solo, but in someway it does and is a metifor, as love is sweet, and ugly. As is that solo.

  • i love this song, even if country has never been my favourite. it reminds me of my mom because she always played it when i was little, and still does :)

  • @Kiki059 yea my mom bumps this through the house

  • I love Blue Rodeo. A couple summers ago I was in an antique shop with my mom and we were talking to the owner while listening to them. She was telling us how the lead singer sometimes came into her store. About five minutes later he did! It was such a strange coincidence. I wonder how he felt coming into the store hearing his band's music playing.

  • It's not just Blue Rodeo that doesn't make it big in the States despite great talent. There's plenty of US bands suffering the same fate: Whiskeytown, Tim Easton, Bottle Rockets, Golden Smog, Drive By Truckers, Wilco, Lucinda Williams....and on and on. Thanks God we have the internet so we can find these great bands!!

  • To think that bands like U2 and Bono become famous in the USA with 2-3 hits which really aren't that good to begin with; is sickening ! If you get the air time..you will or won't make it. Stupid US radio station should look north of the border for true talent such as Blue Rodeo. Ten times better than most bands from the states that make it big.

  • thumbs up.

If it's any consolation... Gene Simmons travels all over Canada looking for talent to sign as he thinks Canada has a big enough musical base to bring on the 'next British invasion' as he put it.

  • Um......U2 is Irish......but I get what you mean. Blue Rodeo, Tragically Hip and other Canadian bands/musicians rock.

  • ...and U2, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Supertramp, Jethro Tull all owe their US success to Canada (Montreal in particular), where Donald K Donald gave them their first real chance.

  • @kodiak1966 Daniel Lanois who is canadian made U2's hits back in the 80's

  • ... they cut out the solo at the end =[

  • I hear ya!!!!

  • i love blue rodeo, my cousin was in this band, :)

  • It's about old love folks. If you ever have the chance to take your love to the "Rose And Crown" in Banff Alberta to see BR live ( they play it every year) you'll win your sweeties heart. Jim is an amazing gentelman and one hell of a musician.

  • absolute masterpiece!

  • As you can tell by this song alone that I think his voice on its own would have carried this group. I enjoy listening to the songs he sings more. Simple but great song.

  • Iv listened to this song a million times and was surprised to see the video doesnt match the words, Do i just not see it or what?

  • you know what?...Me too...I found the video has no meaning to the lyrics or melody. It's weird they went with this video.....

  • yea, i agree.. dunno why u guys got minus's.. it doesn't fit the song.. the video is good, but just doesn't fit..

  • I have mentioned this before and it's a long shot but..what if the video was actually set in the southern hemisphere where fall is in May? Everything would fit..she would be coming home a "tainted woman" and the old couple make her ride in the back of the truck...

  • say these guys at cornfest in Jarvis....absolutely insane. just a small country fair, tiny little stage on a clear summer night.....couldn't believe theses guys were playing a fair and the ticket was only 35 bucks. beautiful magical concert...they were tight, flowing and humble

  • hi marika

  • The short version makes me sad :(

  • this is a absolute masterpiece

  • Blue Rodeo's masterpeice. I'm not even much of a fan of the band, but this song has one of the best chorus' I've ever heard, and together with everything else--the verse, interludes, etc.--just all fit together perfectly.

  • Miss the guitar solo at the end. He surely learned from Neil Young, which doesn't mean it wasn't outstanding. Great song!

  • they rock !!love ya's from newcastle boys!!!!

  • A Canadian Icon, Blue Rodeo. Always GREAT!

  • I love Blue Rodeo, they're a great band, but Keelor shoulda quit while he was ahead with those artificial harmonics in the Solo in the full version of the song....Sounds really bad.

    This cut is waaaaaay better.

  • its an acquired taste. at first i was like this is god awful but they grow on you huge and in the end im glad they included the harmonics

  • quite a very sad song indeed.

  • Great song from a great band.

  • My father used to work with Blue Rodeo! He was their tour manager.. Probably like 10 years ago but it was pretty awesome and he was on tour with them for like 20 years or something like that. I really never got to see him that much but now he's home and I'm happy. You should see the records that are on our wall... it's pretty cool! I love Blue Rodeo!

  • One of the best pop songs of the last 15 years.

  • these guys are one of the best bands I have ever seen live. They sound just as good.

  • NO SOLO!!! How could Blue Rodeo make this video without one of my favorite solos of all time... tisk tisk. Still love the song though.

  • I love Blue rodeo. I've listened to this song since I was 3. And somhow remember it all lol. Brings back good and bad memories, but we always had blue rodeo. =]

  • I am fairly new to Blue Rodeo and I hope this is not a dumb question. I'm trying to figure out the timeline in this song. Like when she is in the back of the truck, is she coming back from the 5 days or is it later and she's going to look for him? "To find a face you've seen a thousand times" makes me think she is going to look for him.

  • I think it is later--it looks like corn in the back of the truck-- harvested late summer--mid-to late Aug. In the end of the video it is autumn, mid to late October the way the trees are defoliating, & brown--& the stocks are long gone from the corn...but she looks years older, so I think she is looking back over the years--hair shorter, & younger face--she is older right at the start--& when she is carrying the pail of milk up the laneway.

  • That makes sense - she just looks like she's not going anywhere in particular and that's why I wondered if she was coming back from somewhere. There is so much symbolism in this video - I interpreted the pail of milk as her having "saved" herself for him for those many years.

  • How about this scenario? What if the setting is in South America? She actually could be coming back from 5 Days in May in the fall. They have quite a few hurricanes down there too...just something to ponder.

  • I still get goosebumps when I hear this

  • actually the video really is not the interpertayion of the song, Jim Cuddy himself has said that the song is based on his relationship with his wife Rena the part about writing her name in the sand is from the former drummer i beleive he used to write his wife name in the sand where ever he was cause then he feels connected with his wife.

  • This song is soo deep. Blue rodeo kicks serious ass.

  • Do we ever put out a lot of talent here in Canada ;)

  • oh you bet y'all do! this song just breaks my heart... i love someone that much and even more! down here, down here in Texas!

  • Five Days in July- one of the greatest Canadian Albums of all time

  • "Oh she loved the lines around his mouth."

Makes me shiver whenever I hear that part, and I now when I hear it I look at my husband. Sigh.

Awesome imagery and storytelling in their beautiful lyrics. Love this band!

  • u guys are aewsome love ya fr Mary Rose,Helen and Pauline Lenita

  • I Like This Song. Its Going Out To My G/f. Luv Ya.

  • I saw them in Peterboro in May and Jim did a piano solo, the song is on the radio now and I can't find it here, something about "you don't have to love this town". Anyone know it I can bring it up on here?

  • I haven't found it on here..but it's from their new album and it's called "this town", an AMAZING song

    !

  • I found the whole uncut version. Look up CatRevolver. they have the uncut version. gawd I love the end solo

  • I like to think of myself as a tough guy but this song stops me dead in my tracks. I think about my girlfriend and get teary eyed immediately every time I hear it.

Seeing them with her on May 31st in Sunderland, Ontario. I can't wait!

  • hey man are there any tickets left Im from little britain?

  • man i tell ya this song hit me its funny how songs do that. a really good song

  • There is no better song in the world, it is everything a song possibly could be! I love Blue Rodeo, I've turned so many people on to them, but this song....ahhh, I love it!

  • Ive been a blue rodeo fan for as long as I remember. There songs are amazing great job guys I love you

  • My dad used to work with Blue Rodeo 14 years ago for 25 years

  • omg i just found this again

i remember when i was a little girl coming home from school and my dad would sittin gin the kitchen listening to blue rodeo everyday.

it was ALWAYS playing in my house its like the music i grew up with.

and i lvoe the lyrics to this song.

  • This song is amazing. Blue Rodeo is even better in concert. I saw them at the Ottawa Blues Fest last summer and they were amazing. I was 5 feet from Jim Cuddy -basically made my life!!

  • Hey hehoosmeltitdeltit , These guys are amazing live.

NicStryker1027 This is the radio edit. The album cut, the sheer violence from the solo, is what makes this a truly great song, no matter the genre. GO SEE LIVE MUSIC!!!

  • Hey hehoosmeltitdeltit, You gotta see these guys live. Absolutely phenominal!

  • This the first time I've "seen" Blue Rodeo -- I stumbled on their music through XM, downloaded a few things and then had to get everything I could lay my hands on. I'm surprised at their age -- their music is very mature and sophisticated.

Their live album Vacation kicks ass -- their instrumentals and solos are absolutely fearless and they way they can interpret a song can give you goose bumps if you don't mind going with them. Very well worth the ride... nice job, boys.

  • all the other videos on here do not do it justice. get the cd, download the song, I'm telling you it's worth it, probably didn't put it on here because this is from CMT and the solo is a little more rock based

  • wth this isn't full version. there is a nice guitar bit at the end that they totally cut out. I have there greatest hits album and love the song and love the guitar at the end. I saw them live at Salmon Arm Folk Festival several years back and they did the guitar there too.

  • .. he drew her name in the sand(8)

  • GREAT SONG!I love how it talks about The Beaches in Toronto! Love it!

  • I like this song...Reminds me of my auntie..:)

  • not my favourite canadian band, but this is still a sick song. i hadnt heard of them till my school had this benefit concert, and it turns out jim cuddy's my friends dad, so he played

  • Just saw them at Massey Hall in Down town Toronto, What an awesome Show!!!

  • Me too!

It was amazing! I love them sooo much!

They were the forst Canadian band to welcome me and my family to Canada!

  • Good song, it has endured many years for me. I'm glad I got to see Blue Rodeo live in Seattle many years ago.

  • blue rodeo really have all around talent that most bands dont.

  • this is about as canadian as it gets..

  • rush and rodeo are the best canadian bands

  • by far the best Canadian band ever. (I am Canadian by the way)

  • and then we did that! oh hi...great song

  • Rock is the music I love most, and country is the music I hate most, but this is by far one of my favorite songs ever. Amazing lyrics, voice, harmonica, piano, organ, bass, and especially amazing guitar solo. Without counting the absolutely beautiful melody. Simply outstanding.

  • ^ Hey, I was writing this as I was listening to the video . . . but I realized at the end that they cut out the epic guitar solo!!! Obviously, the solo is not very commercial, so I understand them cutting it out of the video, but IMHO it's still the best part of the song nonetheless.

  • This is one of those songs that seems to reach something. It's melancholic and the motion is real. And yeah..it just sounds great

  • great tune.

  • I met All these guys in salmon arm BC at the roots and blues festival when i was 13, what a great time.

  • im with both of you....good music always stands out....especially this song

  • I deffinately have to AGREE with you there "KittiesAndAnimeLover" it is most deffinately one of my most favorite songs ever, even though I am only 21... I DO know what good music STILL is....I'm glad you enjoy it as much as I DO!!!(^_^)

  • I have to say, this song is my favorite. I listen to it over and over again, so awesome.
