Yes, I think this effect (per pixel multy pass in 2D) is very strong.

I have to say, this is definitely the game engine I would use to make my games if I had more programming experience- trying to learn game programming in c++ and it's making my brain hurt. :S

Não estou trabalhando em nenhum jogo na verdade, somente no engine. Mas se você quiser, pode fazer um jogo utilizando-a.
