Wow, a slide show on You Tube that's worth watching, nice man :). I wish pilots didn't get royally screwed for pay in the US, I'd do this in a heartbeat.

I'm Hasyim....from Singapore....how hard is it to get into piloting industry?....im now working on my diploma in mechanical engineering....do i have to get a degree..?....can i apply for other airlines?....but i would certainly love to fly for Singapore Airlines...
Hey Im 41 and my dream has been to be a pilot aswell. I also started at 14 wishing I'd fly a plane one but I am still working in a supermarket. Oh well some people just aren't meant to fly so you can continue wishing
I'm also 14 and my dream is achieving the Commercial Pilot License. :) I can't wait to be one and fly with you guys :D pss: is female pilot acceptable?
Well there goes my dream and future plan down the drain, I think it's discrimination against people with slightly different colour vision, such as myself. I can distinguish green and red as easily as anyone else. It's just those damn Ishihara tests I fait at.... :( Thanks for getting this clear to me.
Fuck why am I colourblind?! I can seriously say that I'm depressed due to my slightly colourblindness, I never notice it in my ordinary day, only when I get two colours next to each other, then I might have some difficulties to see which one is which one..... FML
@Mycatsnameismorgan There are test waivers you can take to get a FAA medical waiver. I know Airline pilots that are technically color blind and got cleared by the FAA just check it out your dreams aren't over yet.
@Mycatsnameismorgan "I can seriously say that I'm depressed due to my slightly colourblindness, I never notice it in my ordinary day, only when I get two colours next to each other, then I might have some difficulties to see which one is which one....."
Weird - that's the scenario in which I CAN distinguish the colours! It's the very pale or dark ones that give me trouble. I failed the CAA colour test for commercial in the UK (but I have a PPL there), but passed the FAA version.
@CodeTwo2 Just found out that I'm not very colour blind, it's the Ishihara test I just can't manage, altough if you write something in green with a red background I can still see the green text! :D Do you fly for a british commercial airliner eventhough you failed att the CAA colour test?
@Mycatsnameismorgan It's a common misconception by colour-normal people, that colour-deficiency means you can't see things! They can be seen perfectly (better in some circumstances, it happens), but it's just hard to "pin down" the colour.
My training for FAA commercial was put paid to, by 9/11 basically, so my career took a different path. I still fly privately though. Try the FAA test. Few "fail" it, and if you do, it's then a real-world practical test, which the CAA don't offer....
@CodeTwo2 ....ironically, I never had/have difficulty with lights in actual flying. Signal lights are almost irrelevant nowadays, VASI and PAPI lights, aircraft nav lights, no trouble at all. The CAA test perhaps is not as aligned as it could be; frustrating!
Usually, the only option is to go for where FAA regulation applies, which was my intended path - flying in the 'States, or elsewhere than the UK. It's a long road, but many have taken it. Something to consider maybe, if the UK is no-go.
@Mycatsnameismorgan "So with your training you're not allowed to fly for commercial airlines, such as BA or SAS?"
No. A Private Pilot's Licence is the basic qualification (you can obtain this with colour defective vision, sometimes with certain limitations attached). Anything involving flying to earn, requires various categories of commercial licence, Air Transport Pilot's Licence, ATPL, being the highest, and required for airline flying. Also includes stricter medical requirements.
Please refer to the Bombardier Dash 8 Q400 aircraft accident at Buffalo. Another watershed incident that should prove Pilots need more respect in the industry.
@210482fmj oh really ? waw epic fail comment, you think its the same sitting in a plane, chilling, when a pilot is sitting in the front stressing to get all passengers safely to the ground ?
@ABCDEFGHIJKLMNO286 A locomotive ways much more than any plane, it's fully understood how a plane flies. You should get a better education, then you would understand how physics and calculus work, it's very simple. God does not exist.

@0oCrimsono0 the best in north america is confederation college in Thunderbay ontario i went there within 3 months i had a job with air georgian, now im flying a 727 for kelowna flightcraft just 3 years later
@grulloc yes i did i had my ppl with a twin endorsment, they give you 200 when its done with no Twin though. The quality of training i had was amazing the instructors were 10x better than what i had at toronto airways, even with only the 200 hours they gave me the confederation college certificate appeals to alot of airlines in canada
@0oCrimsono0 im also 14 atm and im moving away from my familie to my grandparents in iceland cause thats where im originally from (live in denmark atm) ye like i said im moving next year to learn to fly and go to an icelandic school so i can become an commercial pilot! been my dream for a while
@0oCrimsono0 hi im also 14 and have wnted to be an airline pilot for years i think that oxford is the best place too i have been flying gliders for about 4 years the oxford flight school looks the best im only live 30 miles from oxford and i get 5 monthes training in phoenix, arizona.
@0oCrimsono0 Rubbish, Oxford is the most expensive school, not the best, the best flight school is the one that suits you to the best of your standards.
@0oCrimsono0 Im sorry, I'm actually a first officer in Ryanair with 3 other brothers working as captains and first officers in Ryanair also, none of them went to oxford, all went to the Bournemouth commercial flight training centre which is actually a proper flight school about 50 grand cheaper than Oxford. Three of us got hired over a selection of 5 guys from oxford. Tell me whats a better school now? Its funny the way a 14 year old thinks he knows more. How many hours exactly have you got?
@0oCrimsono0 Haahha what world do you think you live in. The majority of all oxford graduates all only were offered positions in Ryanair. You really haven't a clue about aviation. With your attitude I wouldn't even want to work with you. Stay in school good luck
@0oCrimsono0 going to the best university does not guarantee you a job in this industry. so why be on a lifetime debt loan when you can go to a local FBO and get it for 1/3 the price and come out with the same licenses?
@HackerzInHD cause as unfair as it is, if 2 ppl have the same grades.... they will pick someone from a renown school first... thats just the way it goes...
@0oCrimsono0 airlines couldnt give a sh*t abt grades. its all about how many hours you have. Im just saying, do your research before you go into the BIG NAME schools.. because the last thing you would want is to repay a 100k loan..
I decided to go to Saint Louis University because you get a more well-rounded college education than Embry-Riddle, plus I'm Catholic, so that was a nice plus.
(1) Why do you love flying? - Im only 16 and I only fly once every year or so to some place for usually vacation, and every time I do I have this feeling of "whoaaaa!", I just love it, i cant keep my away off the window and everyone else acts like its just a normal flight, I dont... I think its just Awsome.
im planning to go on to uni to study economics at york or nottigham (pretty good unis about top 10-15 in UK), would it be better to pursue my dreams in that area or do the degree and then try and become a pilot? my preferences are: good pay ( may not be initially) easy work in comparison to other jobs (i understand becoming a pilot might require a lot of hard work for training and first few years) and able to receive lots of benefits
Mate, I've been to exhibitions and spoken to pilots and people in CTC, OAA, Cabair and people in modular training, and every single person has said if you want to be a pilot, just put yourself out there and go for it, you'll never be a pilot if you keep holding back for reasons. I'ma a month away from being 19, and i've currently got 9 hours towards my PPL, and i've been holding off applying for flying schools because i don't have my class 1 medical because i've been holding off
@gerbilater because i've been holding off for stupid reasons, and now i've started my PPL i'v wondered why i was holding off for so long, so just go for it.
Hi mate, i just made a similar video in my aircraft A320 check it out, you can find in my video or search batavia pilot, it will be the first one listed, you would be more then welcome to leave some comments thanks.
I'm in college and taking Aeronautics classes towards becoming a commercial pilot when I graduate. It's a lot of studying and memorization of dates and history of aviation, but it's fun. I was going to aim for a fighter pilot ion the USAF, but there is definitely more money in commercial aviation. That's what I need to pay off school debt... money lol.
@cowfinatic101 actually, fighter pilots make in estimate around 700k a year.. but becoming one is against all odds, just getting a pilot slot in the air force is hard.
become a pilot is not my ambition. idont like travels and love to stay at home. but now i'm first officers of b737. i get bored almost every time go to fly. the only interesting part of being an airline pilot is the highly paid salary and the hot chicks keep flirting on you. but become a pilot makes me become a better person and more responsible towards my job.
1. because we do, its fun, its unique, and its something to be in awe about knowing something that weighs 5x more than you is getting off the ground into the sky where only the laws of physics limits you're ovements.
2. because it puts you in control, you take responsibility and are the one to lead the way.
3. because all jobs in aviation are special
4. stupid question, not the case, only reason is to save costs for flight training/licenses, but thats not a valid question to ask.
@applesweeter never gonna happen. big airlines have bumped up the security and only flight attendents can get in, and at that, they have to notify pilots about it.
and on regional jets its too small to have an inflight meal in the cockpit. or there might not be a meal period if the flight is short.
@applesweeter than again, i'd feel honored, as cheesy as that sounds, but yea i'd be pretty excited.
i remember when i was 6, flying from Bangladesh to Dubai to London back to Miami, on the first leg from BD-Dubai, we were on an A340, i got a peek at the cockpit 3 or 4 hours in for like 5 minutes. cool stuff, too bad it takes nearly 2 decades to get into a cockpit like that in the USA without have been a Fighter Pilot or something in AF.
i'mma go Army and fly choppers, and transition later.
@applesweeter Answer to 4, I have no Idea about the flight attendant but I prefer to be a pilot as I just got my pilots license :) and I'm a female pilot :)
@donna7179 Congrats on getting the licence, I hope to get mine soon. We need more female pilots, so we can spread the word of this wonderful job even further :)
1 & 2 are same. When you feel the control stick, the airplane becomes an extension of your body. YOU are flying.
1: Because once you've experienced that freedom, you never want to be a ground-bound person again. Not being able to fly and move like that and go there (cloudscapes, the sky), is like not being able to walk. It's worse than being confined to a wheelchair your whole life. Flying is a whole new dimension of freedom that's unexplainable. You have to experience it.
Yes, I agree. When aerocraft manufacturers design and make jets, they ensure that the pilot feel comfort and easy control of their plane. Thus, they should feel the control wheel as part of them body in stead of an external interface.
always remember the fierce competion from other applicants so keep you're options open. Don't become fixated on only becoming a pilot as there won't be enough places for everybody. keep it as a career in mind to pursue whilst doing other careers also.
id love to become a commercial pilot someday!! but that means going on loans... but im sure its gonna be worth it... people say to join the air force, but in the air force after training u have to stay and serve them for like 10-15 years. i just cant w8 that long!!
@westoaux Really. Good luck with that. It depends what type of airline pilot you want to be. If you want to become a pilot for a major airline and fly larger aircraft, well... you won't have a better chance to get the job unlike people that flew in the military. I'm going through the airforce route. 10 years is not a long time.
id join the airforce but i live in new zealand. the airforce here only has like 15 planes and they dont even have fighter planes. If i wanna be an air force pilot in another country i have to be a citizen and that takes a long time to get.
so i guess i have to go to a flight school but first get a bachelors degree :D
@westoaux You don't have to serve 10-15. It's 20 to get their retirement package.
You would have to serve a minimum of 4 years. though I think that may very depending on the branch most is 4 years. You could also join the reserves instead of the active duty. Honestly from what I have researched. You have a much greater chance getting into an airline after being in the military then you do as a civilian. Though if you put the time into it the civilian route is doable.
what things are enough? i mean what to do in there...after if i watch in future will it be boring when u watch it... wat tings are enough? going to the toilet, sleeping?
Most of us don't have a PHD but we spend about the same amount of hours in school and avg 100,000+ lives in our hands each year. @0oCrimsono0 Haahha what world do you think you live in. The majority of all oxford graduates all only were offered positions in Ryanair. You really haven't a clue about aviation. With your attitude I wouldn't even want to work with you. Stay in school good luck

@0oCrimsono0 yes, but the real question is, CAN YOU AFFORD 130k?

@0oCrimsono0 yes, but the real question is, can you afford 130k?
HackerzInHD 5 months ago
@HackerzInHD that was not the question, the question was "whats the best uni to go to??"
0oCrimsono0 5 months ago
@0oCrimsono0 going to the best university does not guarantee you a job in this industry. so why be on a lifetime debt loan when you can go to a local FBO and get it for 1/3 the price and come out with the same licenses?
HackerzInHD 5 months ago
@HackerzInHD but if your mommy and daddy can pay for it, go for it! ;)
HackerzInHD 5 months ago
@HackerzInHD cause as unfair as it is, if 2 ppl have the same grades.... they will pick someone from a renown school first... thats just the way it goes...
0oCrimsono0 5 months ago
@0oCrimsono0 airlines couldnt give a sh*t abt grades. its all about how many hours you have. Im just saying, do your research before you go into the BIG NAME schools.. because the last thing you would want is to repay a 100k loan..
HackerzInHD 5 months ago 4
@HackerzInHD haha whatever man,... make sure your research is right, lol

The Top 4:
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
North Dakota
Saint Louis University (Parks College)
Purdue
I decided to go to Saint Louis University because you get a more well-rounded college education than Embry-Riddle, plus I'm Catholic, so that was a nice plus.

im planning to go on to uni to study economics at york or nottigham (pretty good unis about top 10-15 in UK), would it be better to pursue my dreams in that area or do the degree and then try and become a pilot? my preferences are: good pay ( may not be initially) easy work in comparison to other jobs (i understand becoming a pilot might require a lot of hard work for training and first few years) and able to receive lots of benefits
gerbilater 1 year ago
@gerbilater
Mate, I've been to exhibitions and spoken to pilots and people in CTC, OAA, Cabair and people in modular training, and every single person has said if you want to be a pilot, just put yourself out there and go for it, you'll never be a pilot if you keep holding back for reasons. I'ma a month away from being 19, and i've currently got 9 hours towards my PPL, and i've been holding off applying for flying schools because i don't have my class 1 medical because i've been holding off
mrhaydon 1 year ago
@gerbilater because i've been holding off for stupid reasons, and now i've started my PPL i'v wondered why i was holding off for so long, so just go for it.

That's what I need to pay off school debt... money lol.
cowfinatic101 1 year ago
@cowfinatic101 actually, fighter pilots make in estimate around 700k a year.. but becoming one is against all odds, just getting a pilot slot in the air force is hard.

become a pilot is not my ambition. idont like travels and love to stay at home. but now i'm first officers of b737. i get bored almost every time go to fly. the only interesting part of being an airline pilot is the highly paid salary and the hot chicks keep flirting on you. but become a pilot makes me become a better person and more responsible towards my job.

Dear All,
I have some questions about psychology:
(1) Why do we love flying?
(2) Why do we love to become pilot?
(3) Why do manay people want to get a job related to aviation?
(4) Why do femlae prefer to be flight attendents than to be pilots?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)
applesweeter 1 year ago 16
@applesweeter
1. because we do, its fun, its unique, and its something to be in awe about knowing something that weighs 5x more than you is getting off the ground into the sky where only the laws of physics limits you're ovements.
2. because it puts you in control, you take responsibility and are the one to lead the way.
3. because all jobs in aviation are special
4. stupid question, not the case, only reason is to save costs for flight training/licenses, but thats not a valid question to ask.
Sharod101 1 year ago
@Sharod101
how will you feel if a pilot invite you to have inflight dinner in the cockit?
applesweeter 1 year ago
@applesweeter never gonna happen. big airlines have bumped up the security and only flight attendents can get in, and at that, they have to notify pilots about it.
and on regional jets its too small to have an inflight meal in the cockpit. or there might not be a meal period if the flight is short.
but i'd be honored.
Sharod101 1 year ago
@Sharod101
I man that if security is not a problem?
applesweeter 1 year ago
@applesweeter than again, i'd feel honored, as cheesy as that sounds, but yea i'd be pretty excited.
i remember when i was 6, flying from Bangladesh to Dubai to London back to Miami, on the first leg from BD-Dubai, we were on an A340, i got a peek at the cockpit 3 or 4 hours in for like 5 minutes. cool stuff, too bad it takes nearly 2 decades to get into a cockpit like that in the USA without have been a Fighter Pilot or something in AF.
i'mma go Army and fly choppers, and transition later.

@donna7179
Congraduation!! I am planning to learn flying and get a private pilot licence, too.
Why do you like flying and to be the control person on an aeroplane?
Furthermore, may I invite you as a friend?
applesweeter 1 year ago
@donna7179 Congrats on getting the licence, I hope to get mine soon. We need more female pilots, so we can spread the word of this wonderful job even further :)
thestig747 1 year ago
@applesweeter
Eagle1Division2 1 year ago 3
@Eagle1Division2
Yes, I agree. When aerocraft manufacturers design and make jets, they ensure that the pilot feel comfort and easy control of their plane. Thus, they should feel the control wheel as part of them body in stead of an external interface.

tinyman12323 10 months ago
@applesweeter Hi. good questions. This is what i brainstormed. No reseach done.
(1) Human like to look at things from a Uniqe view. just like a photo. see things differently. Flying is one way.
(2)Like i have said before. We also like to be in controll of that "uniqe" view. Become pilots.
(3)Becuse that "uniqe" view can be done by planes. that means it's fun and interesting. Therefor jobs related to aviation can't not be boring.
(4)I think female like to interact with strangers more then male.

always remember the fierce competion from other applicants so keep you're options open. Don't become fixated on only becoming a pilot as there won't be enough places for everybody. keep it as a career in mind to pursue whilst doing other careers also.

id love to become a commercial pilot someday!! but that means going on loans... but im sure its gonna be worth it... people say to join the air force, but in the air force after training u have to stay and serve them for like 10-15 years. i just cant w8 that long!!
westoaux 2 years ago
@westoaux Really. Good luck with that. It depends what type of airline pilot you want to be. If you want to become a pilot for a major airline and fly larger aircraft, well... you won't have a better chance to get the job unlike people that flew in the military. I'm going through the airforce route. 10 years is not a long time.
Redskins1726 2 years ago
id join the airforce but i live in new zealand. the airforce here only has like 15 planes and they dont even have fighter planes. If i wanna be an air force pilot in another country i have to be a citizen and that takes a long time to get.
so i guess i have to go to a flight school but first get a bachelors degree :D
westoaux 2 years ago
@westoaux You don't have to serve 10-15. It's 20 to get their retirement package.
You would have to serve a minimum of 4 years. though I think that may very depending on the branch most is 4 years. You could also join the reserves instead of the active duty. Honestly from what I have researched. You have a much greater chance getting into an airline after being in the military then you do as a civilian. Though if you put the time into it the civilian route is doable.
Callabris 2 years ago
geez 20 yrs thats even more than i expected.
westoaux 2 years ago
@westoaux You would be flying as an officer if that is what you join for.
