very well done. i am trying to create a clock driven counter very similar to yours.(this is a question to harbinger) im having trouble with the clock because whenever i start the count down it says 9 than wen it goes to 8 9 wont switch of si then is all starts shorting out. how do i make it so this doesnt happen?

@Mattie400 Mine actually did something similar when I was testing it. Only went to 00111 at first because somehow a torch in my 4th flip flop disappeared. Easiest way to track down the fault would be to break all of the output lines (to speed things up) and then wire a clock to the input of the first bit. Then you can run around in the counter and watch to see where the signal breaks down without having to cycle it manually, working one bit at a time. Likely just something small is missing.

to make a bigger display dont copy and past your device next to each other. Instead, make the display as large as u want, add an RS-nor latch and some controllers to each of the outputs, then the device can print to the display one letter at a time.

Very impressive work, and the circuit even looks impressive as "scenery"

A way to reduce size would be removing one column and one row from the dot matrix (you can still display all characters on that size, I must have an old bitmap font I made in those dimensions for reference). Also using more vertical space, and the North/South torch "quirk" to increase speed.

Newer logic gates with reduced size/more speed are available on the official forums, using that "quirk". You might find them helpful!
