  • WNJS23 Camden/Weehacken/Middletown/Red Bank/Eatontown/Long Branch/West End, New Jersey, United States Of America - ? Sign Off (1986)

  • call letters mean New Jersey South. covering Philadelphia, Southern New Jersey and the Delaware Valley.

  • I'm lovin this playlist, because I'm seven kinds of geek, and signoffs are cool, but also because one of those is that I'm a Banner geek, and I'm just lovin all the local color.

  • Growing up in Vineland, I have WNJS to thank for my lifelong love of Harold Lloyd (my favorite silent comedian) and "The Fugitive" (my second favorite TV series of all time.)

Around 1980 NJN aired "Hooray for Harold Lloyd" and I was completely hooked on the hilarious everyman with the round spectacles. A few years later NJN aired "The Fugitive" nightly at midnight, and this time I was hooked on the wronged loner on the road, in noirish black and white, played by the great David Janssen.

  • Prior to NJN, "The Fugitive" was aired on WNEW-TV in New York, in the early 1970's. (WNEW also aired "The Prisoner.")

  • Beautiful harmonies of the Star Spangled Banner.

  • I noticed the custom "SSB" as sung by the Vineland High School Select Choir here, was reminiscent of one of the "O Canada" films shown by some Canadian TV stations c.1970's/'80's.
