  • This would be a great life to live and they gave those kids such amazing experiences that hardly anyone gets to live. It's truly amazing! I could definitely live a life like this and really enjoy it.

  • Yes there is a lot of value in the lesson that things being difficult is part of what makes them good. Nevertheless, without this "big bad society", there would be no trash bags to chuck stuff in, and there would be no surf championships to go to. These days, in most countries, this simply wouldn't work - you would just starve.

Another thing, there is no bloody excuse whatsoever for scarring children by shagging in front of them. Child protective services SHOULD stop stuff like that.

  • Regardless of how you feel about the Paskowitz family or Doc's views of how best to live this film teaches that ALL actions have consequenses. As outsiders it's easy to dismiss this story as idealic, romantic or extreme and non-conformists. I heard Chuck Palahniuk and Gregg Clark speaking about how everyone else's life seems unreal to everyone else-in terms of 'acting'-but the same can be said for life in general-essentially this film exposes the long term effects of how we spend our youth.

  • the kids are so cool as adults-----the daughter is so pretty.

  • Wow.

  • I have absolutely no interest in living this sort of life, BUT I love that someone did it and shared their experiences.

  • I loved your story, loved the film, it is one of my favorites of all films. And I loved the flys.. are the flys still around? will they put out anew album someday?

all the best to your family.

    LOVE YOU GUYS

  • I recently saw a great site that had episodes of the secret life of the american teenager like 40 minutes after air time! check it out here: nationaltvcentral(DOT)blogspot(DOT)com

  • for ALL of you wondering/wandering...this is the story of SURF up! Dummy's down...GIT w/ THIS, and BE REAL!!!! the song "Got you where I want you" is by Adam and Joshua Paskowitz... .....Biatches!!!

  • What a great life.

  • what jonathan mean when he said his brothers where brain washed? was he refering to his dads way of life being brainwashed

  • amazing family...great movie! I grew up in a conventional family with good parents and I still have resentments toward my dad.-Don't we all? I guess you have to focus on the good aspects they recieved...health, diet, surfing, family!

  • there is something to be said for divorcing yourself from the status quo and the lifestyle of the worlds sheeple.

The Paskowitz family is the living embodiment of Thoreaus compassion and poetry..." If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away."

Riveting thru all of the ups and downs. I a, profoundly moved by the experience of watching this film

  • Loved this movie!

  • anybody know the name of the song ?

  • the first song that is.

  • cool movie. a lot about what doc said to me is very cool. I probably would not live like he did but its great stuff to be aware of. At the beginning where he talks about waves and the wisdom of the ages is excellent.

  • Interesting ... there are some parts could criticize, yet there are some parts I totally agree with ... maybe not for me ... but interesting non the less

  • To me the sad part is today Child Protective Services would separate this family. Here they are experiencing life as a family. How many can even say they eat dinner together as a family any more? Congratulations on living life the way they felt it should be. If only more people actually had a clue as to what is important to them, and lived that way we'd be much better off. To them theirs, to me mine.

Btw, an education isn't only from classes, and books.

  • how can you say that, at the beginning she said she is scarred sexually.. how can you say that is right when as individual you have not one ounce of privacy!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @wtf0987 wtf you people are really disgusting if you think that would be a pleasant safe life... lol she even said she was scarred sexually ...that is absolutely child abuse to have sex in the same room as your kids. Id consider that on the exact same level as child molestation.

  • Comment removed

  • @wtf0987 Its not "unsafe" for adults to live that way its unsafe and unhealthy for children to be raised that way. I highly doubt you would love to be cramped into a small rv with your siblings and having to be in same room as your parents having sex...im actually pretty shocked they didnt all commit suicide.

  • Comment removed

  • @wtf0987 it absolutely is, their father has all symptoms of a psychopath he was very selfish and used his family for his own needs and didnt care about what they needed. Id say you had a point if that was the only lifestyle available to them in america...but its not. That is very low quality of life in america, and if you willingly are putting your kids in lowest quality unstable life available because you want to surf all day that is really sad and pathetic.

  • @YourLoveLetter you're very close minded, to speak with such an absolutist perspective. You're also very clearly heavily conditioned by the society you livein, to accept a view of life of heard, rahter than subjective wsidom. I think this man is very courageous, to say he is psycopath shows you know clearly very little the quality of an unstable mind, or the nature of mind at all. Where do you take your perceptions of society from? Fox NEws? HGTV? (forgive my poor english)

  • @YourLoveLetter I totally agree with you. I would have either killed myself or that SICK old man! You know I would have gladly watched one of the Saw movies then sit through this disturbing movie slash life story. OMG... I had no idea.

And you'd think a doctor would work to at least provide his children with decent living arrangements! The whole, 'watch your parents do it' makes my skin crawl. What price did he pay for scarring his kids for life? Tearing his wife to pieces?

    Sicko!

  • @wtf0987 You should watch the whole movie, none of his children except one is happy about the way they were raised.

  • @wtf0987 yeaaa... the REAL sad part is the children didnt really have any "freedom" to live the lives they wanted... maybe you should watch the documentary again

  • If there were more families like the Paskowitzs, we wouldn't have to suffer so many Bernard Profitendieus.

  • I just wanted my kids around me HOW SELFISH IS HE??? Where were social services? He is very dominating and controlling and his wife is very weak. He basically keep her barefoot and pregnant. He had sex in the same room where his kids slept. the guy is mental

  • WOW!

    im glad thats over!!

can we please continue this Conversation in an Amicable and Rational Matter?

I think the Topic is Family Dynamics in Culture and Counter culture.

lets not let our own personal Distaste for an Alternative Lifestyle close us off to a lesson That might actually inform what we believe. and maybe learn something???

Also, Bernard As one Music Lover to Another...

    Lets Keep it Civil. Please.

  • How do you feel today man? Must be like being in the Jackson 5 or something???

Your pops gave one great thing....Surfing!

    are we freaks?

    yes.

can We all Agree that there is Good and Bad in Every Families upbringing and is up to us personally to embody or reject?

    All of us EXCEPT you..

you have a very personal and strange Obsession here.

  • yawn

  • fail..

  • O.K!

    Here it Goes..

Bernard(Answer to all your problems growing up even if you were raised in the Ponciest Atmosphere would be A a Horrible burden for anyone to be named and you deserve that insult for being so insulting your self)

You Really Are missing the point, we ALL fall short of the Glory Of the Lord. to piss on these peoples parade is unseemly, and smacks of a truly barren life when the outlet for your vitriol is OBVIOUSLY Not Appropriate, DUH!

  • just stopping by to check comments about yourself again, Josh? sounds like something your father would do

Apple. Tree. You know the rest.

  • you're looking for another facebook "friend"?!? ... aren't 860 about enough already?

you people take yourselves way to seriously

  • AHHHH This man is so controversial! I understand why people love him and love what he did and what he does! But I so don't agree that you can maintain this extreme of a life with children! He beat his children! He denied them education! Don't get me wrong! He is a great person with all his faults and imperfections! I don't want to take that away from him! BUT everyone thinks that this is the best way to be and parts of it are but not all of it!!

  • i love Pascowitz Familly !!! U r real and the way ppl should be !! i am going to have a fun familly like yours !! lots of love from Julieta ,London xx

  • you know they didn't talk for 10 years...yeah sounds like fun

  • At least none of them became an argumentative and self-righteous prosecuting attorney :-)

  • every child abuser gives their children life experiences that no one else has ... it's really not a remarkable accomplishment

... and how the fuck do you know they all "turned out alright," imbecile?

  • hows he a child abuser?

  • he isn't in my eyes he was living his life as free will! to do his own thing just like people used to do many thousands of years ago before government took place. Seems as though he was skipping all of that no bills, no mortgage, a bit like living in a forest! and look how healthy and happy they were w00t. amazing good healthy life style also, no hamburgers, sugar unreal.. good stuff

  • The poor kids...I don't know of anyone with normal parents, but some kids just have no chance from the get go. What he did, the decisions he made for his kids' lives, was selfish. He shouldn't have had 9 fo them, if he had no plan to take decent care of them. Was he thinking they would get along fine in life as adults living out of a car at the beach with no education? Or did he think at all?

  • @barbixy why shouldn't he have had 9 kids.At least they are all independant adults providing for themselves now. Unlike the THOUSANDS of family's ..er single tramp mothers who have 9 10, 12 , kids and collect welfare for a living passing that BRILLIANT wisdom and lifestyle onto their kids. Who are you to judge anybody anyway?Did any of his children die in the process?..Are they productive members of society today not living off of my tax dollars? Have you walked in their shoes? learn or go away.

  • Trust me, no Jewish woman would have allowed this to go on, and obviously, he had at least one or two jewish women that divorced his fucked up ass. Dictators like him/Brando/etc think that all they have to do is hook up with some 3rd world woman they can walk all over, and they do.

Poor kids led fucked up wife. No Jewish woman would have allowed this shit to go on!

  • Stop saying 'No Jewish Woman!' Don't speak for everyone, you fucking pushy whore! The 50 year old Jewess here has a computer and is now going to tell the internet what's what.

  • Duuuuuude....... like uh totally dude. Our parents fucked in front of all of us... awesome! Oh, and uh dude... what? Right on, no worries. "All I need are some tasty waves, a cool buzz and I'm fine."

  • anyone know where i can watch the whole movie online?????

  • Netflix

  • I'd like to see some proof that he ever had "a successful medical practice." I very much doubt it.

  • In the movie they said he did, and showed his certificate. Have you seen the movie?

  • any professional insecure enough to have to show his certificates during a documentary raises even more suspicions - the fact of the matter is he had some medical training, but then worked a low-level office job for the AMA (red flag) - truly pathetic that he actually wanted people to call him "Doc" his whole life

an unmitigated, unalloyed Loser (not the capital "L")

  • no, he wasnt standing there holding his certificate saying "see?!"

i think you should see the movie before making such stern opinions. im not saying your points arent valid, but make your judgements after actually watching the movie, and not after some 10 minute sneak peak on youtube.

why does this guy bug you so much anyway? hes just some old fart who doesnt like money. let him be.

  • He did not just have 'some medical training'- he was a Stanford educated doctor with a practice in Hawaii.

  • his 'practice' consisted of a short term desk job for the AMA (something anyone can get without medical training)

people who insist on being called "Doc" usually have something shady in their resume

the guy's a first class, egotistical, flake

  • go to the Stanford Alum website. He is without a doubt a legit medical Doctor - he received both an undergraduate degree and a medical degree from Stanford. He was also President of Hawaii's Mental Hygiene Association (now the Mental Health Association). He was successful, and he IS a Doctor.

  • he was failure at everything he did in his life.

    end of discussion.

  • the father's a first class, selfish loser ... is he still alive? she should be arrested for child abuse

one son hit the nail on the head using the term "brainwashed"; the father willing brainwashed his whole family (and the loser mother was too weak to stand up to him - obviously he looked for that characteristic in a wife)

    loser, loser, loser!!!

  • any parent who teaches there child any specific way of life can be called brainwashing. your a loser dude.

  • lol - why don't you save the keystrokes and just wear a sign around your neck that says "Clueless Child" 'cause that's the message you send out every time you hit "Post Comment"

p.s. only the dullest of the dull use the word "dude" - haven't you noticed?

p.p.s run, don't walk, to the nearest remedial spelling class (perhaps there's an elementary school near you) you're in need of a brush up

  • i would rather be a "clueless child"

then a pompous prick dude. honestly, who are you to say your way of life is better then theirs.

p.s. sorry i dont double check my grammar on youtube comments dude.

  • DUDE, there's a difference between spelling and grammar, DUDE, or maybe you're to busy defending this tool, DUDE, to know the difference, DUDE, why don't you take the word "dude" out of your vocabulary, DUDE? DUDE, I recognize it would decrease your wordcount by over 50%, DUDE, but we could all live with that, DUDE.

yeah, DUDE, who's to say any way of life is better than 11 people living in a dirty camper, DUDE, and listening to their selfish parents having sex, DUDE? true paradise, DUDE!!!

  • fuck you and your mono culture narrow minded shit talk you cant handle that someone brings a beautiful large family up in a different and freer lifestyle than the one you were dictated through.any style of upbringing has forced elements, this guy did it one way you and the majority did it your way, doesnt make either way wrong.even career focused parents have to enforce certain hardships on their kids through circumstances.if this family were bought up like you, they may have wished otherwise L8r!

  • Well said!

  • you actually brooded about this for 2 whole days?!?! now that's the sign of a true loser

being self absorbed doesn't equal a freer lifestyle, dimwit

and having sex in a minivan a couple feet from the kids because he's too self centered to think that might not be too cool isn't being non-conformist, it's just being a selfish loser

the competition was tough, but you're the single biggest imbecile I've ever come across on youtube

only a true loser would run to this guy's defense

  • hah,i've spent no time 'brooding' about what you say.got a prompt from youtube,i click and reply.you dont get this.plenty of families living straight and narrow lives,in homes, had scenarios where a kid walks in on their parents having sex,and worse things happen too in even higher esteemed places.quit being a prick.go away from this thread.go watch your ballet fav's.continue to sniff higher than your own asshole.take your non argument elsewhere.if you dont like this upload dont hang around.peace

  • big diff between being walked in on and doing it every night next to the kiddies in a 21 foot camper ... one is perhaps awkward for a moment, the other, a reason to call DCFS

I'm sure the little lady never won a Mother of the Year award for her role, either ... probably just the mousely milquetoast type an eqoist would seek out to complement his me me me lifestyle 'cause she had no spine to stand up to him

  • no,a child could just as easy be 'scarred for life' walking into their parents room,as could happen every night, after watching them cook up drugs and deal out ,each night, for a buck,in a home,in a city, like yours.. . .as for your comments on this fine lady who brought up a strong traditionally large family very well, well, you are really scraping the dregs with your low unfounded comments, and what're still doing hanging 'round here ?

  • yawn.

  • @BernardProfitendieu Your an ignorant child.....Get some help.

  • lol - you actually think people "hang around" posts?

  • ho ho ho, you're hanging round now.. still.. later .good bye. see ya.. adieu ..

  • yawn. yawn.

  • fail, loser, run out of anything to say at all now, you kong ago ran out of anything relevant to say regarding this video, so go home ,stay away, i wont be wasting anymore of my time on you barnyard,.

  • That same son is the one who produced this documentary because he is now so sure his father did something great.

  • psychologically speaking, the victims of the abuse may not have the most objective opinions

here's a truly objective one from an outsider: the guy's a self-serving pile of putrid green diarrhea

  • Nevertheless, you used the "victim's" comments to argue your position in the first place.

Psychologically speaking, you're the one with daddy issues.

  • as any good prosecuting attorney would!

and as this selfish freak is clearly so far removed from being any kind of father figure to anyone on this planet, your last comment doesn't even make sense

why on earth would you waste even an calorie of energy defending this human waste product?

are you fathering Myles this way!?!?!? if so, someone needs to call Child Protective Services post-haste!

  • you sound like a narrow minded conformist cunt

  • oh! is that your problem? that you're a dosed up narrow cunt on meds!

  • you actually subscribed to this freakshow channel? you've got problems yourself!

    run, Myles, run!!

  • perhaps you were abused as a child ? resulting in your holding on to childish comments like the one you use above

  • then again, perhaps not! (interesting that you would jump to that line of thought ... a subject for your next therapy session?)

  • actually you were the one started the 'child abuse' comments here ,is your memory that bad? you reveal a lot about yourself, and you're still hanging 'round dumping in this thread you don't like,go discuss that with YOUR therapist. i have no need for one..

  • is that you get out clause? fail X X X loser...

  • just saw the film, this will be my all time favorite film! everyone should see this film. very inspiring! god bless the paskowitz family!!

  • man, surfwise was one hell of a thought provoking film. i cant get it out of my head. see this movie if you haven't!

  • "...there were times where one guy had a bitchin' outfit."

    That is damn funny.

  • This film opened my eyes I am 28 and I have been hiding for 5 years from I don't know what but now I will go make memories

  • yes, you too can be a loser! just follow this guy's lead - start making those loser memories --- great choice, moron!!

  • LOL and what a life you lead! nothing better to do? and who are you to judge what have you done with your life that makes you any better?

  • No more words, that's living!! From the beginning to where they find themselves now. How can they regret anything, really? I guess that's the end message, experience can't be wrong!!!

  • God bless the Paskowitz family!!!! I don't think I have ever had more love for a family other than my own. All the day to day living conflicts of understanding, all the loss for personal demonstration in modern life, they have to know they did the best with the world, had the best start possible. They're more relevant, more living than what? Can't walk in other shoes, but I'm convinced, like the others .

  • Some interesting tidbits of food for thoughts...

  • Great film..

I was totally engaged from start to finish and loved every minute of it..

    Cool people all..

  • Me and my 4 bros used to play with the Paskowitzes when we were kids. We even went camping together a few times - I think Dorian saw the "open road" RV my dad bought for $2000 and bought his first. Once they had their camper, they were constantly mobile.

I loved hanging out with them. I always thought that the mom, Juliette, was strong and beautiful. They was the only family that could wrestle all 5 brothers (us) simultaneously. Hope they are all doing well - can't wait to see the film. Mark R.

  • Utterly compelling, thought provoking movie, I can't recommend it enough!

  • SURFWISE is entertaining and thought- provoking. My old friend, Poppa Neutrino, like Doc, raised his family in a non comformist way. The Flying Neutrinos lived in the streets and aboard homemade rafts they built from garbage. It's easy to judge Doc and Poppa, but in examining their extremes in attitude, others can learn about their own personal freedom and choices. It begs a provocative question: what worldview is ingrained in all of us that puts limits on our personal expression in life?

  • Since the film hasn't yet been released, I wonder how SFerb has such insight into things when she hasn't even viewed the film. The knee jerk reaction to these clips is pretty typical of our country. Anything which is hard to understand, or you can't wrap your mind around, is automatically judged with epithets of condemnation. It is hard to keep an open mind in "conventional society".

  • hmshanno,

Oh please. I was abandoned by abusive parents, grew up in foster care and group homes, stayed in over 20 different shelters and ended up in a homeless shelter at age 18. You don't know anything about me, so it's kind of funny that *you're* the one making knee jerk assumptions about the person behind the comments. I understand perfectly well what the patriarch of this family is about.

  • I'm an ardent fan of unconventional, non-conformist approaches to life. As you can hazard a guess from my background, I'm not a big fan of society OR convention. Don't twist my words: I did not condemn the lifestyle. I condemned the father's egotism and old-school patriarchy megalomania in purposefully creating a large family just to turn them into his personal cult. He says he removed them from society's influence, but isn't he really just replacing that with his own?

  • Thanks Joshua. Apparently SFerb thinks she knows more about your experience than you. I applaud this approach, which most likely was fraught with typical familial dysfunction, but was directed from a different view of culture. I don't see any child abuse, nor do I see any evidence from the kids interviews which would suggest abuse. The daughter says the experience of hearing her parents have sex scared her sexually. Is it easier to hear your parents have sex behind closed doors?

  • This may sound a bit crazy, but trust me... I am NOT a typical dum girl. I keep thinking about that Salvador guy! Does anyone know if he's married or how I could get a hold of him?

  • Folks, step away from the Starbucks. This is one story about one family and what they did. Quite imposing your World view on them or anyone else. YOu may not agree with this thing, but it happened. Watch the movie and then see if it means anything to you. In the meantime, shut up.

  • Would you also say that it's "imposing a world view" when one decries childhood abuse and brainwashing? And how can you equate expressing one's honest opinions with "imposing"? The person that is really doing the imposing here is this false prophet and guru who was too cowardly to actually start a cult, so he used his own children. The whole point of watching a movie is to formulate opinions and share them with others, get feedback, etc. Why do you think there are comments boxes under clips??

  • the girl said she or her little brother slept at the foot of the parents bed, that is not right, she said she is messed up now...sexually.

  • A "patriarch" in the true old-style sense of the word. There was one mere mention of Mrs. Paskowitz being "worn out" from childbearing. Otherwise the entire story is about Big Daddy, what HE decreed, what HE decided, HIS rules, what HE ordered everyone to do.

  • Yeah. I mean, there are some dark, dark undertones to what is on the surface a happy and "bohemian" lifestyle. This was not an adventure amongst likeminded and consenting adults. This was ONE man IMPOSING his rules and philosophies on CHILDREN who were under his care. He imposed his will on human beings that couldn't make their own decision. If HE wanted to leave society, that's cool. But how can you just make life-altering decisions for your kids like that??!

  • I'd be willing to bet that he didn't "allow" his wife to use birth control, ever. Talk about barefoot and pregnant....sheesh. She did all the grunting, swelling, tearing and bleeding, year after year, while he dictated the rules. He definitely doesn't get my vote....

  • So you don't think parents of any ilk impose their will onto their kids? Can any kid make his own decision with parents. What societal view or paradigm permits you to believe that this form of parenting is any different than any other situation parents put their children into? I suggest you read about native American tribes and the manner families would live in quarters where everyone lived together. Would you describe that situation as you did above?

  • Of course all parents "impose" on their children to a certain degree. Let's not split hairs. What I was saying was that this particular man imposed his will on EVERY SINGLE ASPECT of his children's lives.

  • no he didnt. he was very supportive of our individual interests.

he was from a conventional upbringing, and wanted an unconventional life for his family, which we had.

why? because the people that affected him were unconventional people. from the perspective of the American nuclear family.

  • because the global majority fell into this category, or close to it. these were the values he "imposed" on us and thank god, turns out so called convention is just a form of control

and what we were exposed to was more of an existential freedom.

as harsh as it might sound, im grateful for it.

my Father is my Hero, because he cares so much for human dignity. he is a sage not a tyrant.

  • I think it's wonderful that you honor your father and may you continue to all your days.

As a Jew though, I wonder if he was maybe a little TOO obsessed with The Holocaust.

It seems like he felt guilty about it rather than fortunate.

I remember, when I was 11 watching a movie about Jesus. At the end, when he was crucified, I started crying. It was sad. But I was rebuked saying "You shouldn't cry about that, but about Jews dying in The Holocaust."

    Can you relate?

    Big DAddy

  • what about free will?

  • A.k.a. he completely removed them from any societal, peer, friendship, academia, media, cultural influences and replaced it 100% with HIS OWN. And that, my friend, is pretty sick. I was raised in an abusive household, but at least I had other outlets to turn to (school, society). These kids had nothing... they were trapped in a lifestyle they didn't choose, cut off from normal society.

  • Don't romanticize child abuse. With the tribes you describe, it was perfectly normal for them because that was their CULTURE. In the case with these kids, they are being severely socially handicapped purely based on the decision of their father.

  • i started surfing this year and if there is a way (and i think there is) to do my job and live along the coast and not having to answer to anyone then i ll be surfing for the rest of my life. open up a health food restaraunt, coach a local soccer team, play capoeira...what dreams may come...

  • OMG That Salvador guy is HOTTT!!!

  • This couldn't happen today. The government would arrest the parents for child abuse, force the kids into schools, give them all vaccinations, and make them all watch American Idol.

  • I cant find a dvd to rent ???

  • Very inspiring.

  • cant wait to see this

  • THIS IS BRILIANT

  • I'm lucky enough to have never compromised myself. I "stuck it to the man" and went into business for myself three years ago at 24. I'm not rich, but I'm fulfilled and happy. I have my own "utopia." But I have NEVER, ever, lived like an animal. And, if I wanted to live like an animal, I never would have had children and forced them into it.

  • thats kinda like the life i want to lead i mean... not to many worrys just go get gas.. then go surf always trying to find that perfect wave,,,,

  • Certainly sounds like a more interesting homelife than most people have. However, it is ironic what a difference location makes: in California, a family of 11 living in a camper gets a documentary made about them; in Missouri, a family of 11 in a camper would be documented only if they were found to be manufacturing a meth-lab inside.

  • all the kids are so chill, i love it

  • What's with the negative remarks in here? People should be encouraged to live the way they want to. Be positive!! Live and let live. Diversity is what makes nature, and nature makes diversity. Respect others and be respected in return :)

    PEACE

  • This is Genius! Absolutley Amazing. This is the type of parenting that we need. Shows the true love and value of life.

  • why do they call him dorian and not father

  • I think the dad is a little nutty. He raised his kids to be uneducated bums - on purpose

  • uneducated bums huh ... which means NO MONEY ... thus NO HAPPINESS ...OMG! They don't have money .. they're unhappy! ... oh capitalism. Hey, this is great for the greedy jew stereotype. Herte's a jew that wanted to be poor and lead a simple life. Good for him.

  • I didn't get the impression that they were uneducated they were educated in a less traditional manner. Education is over rated you want to know what isn't ATTITUDE there is a poem about attitude by Charles Swindoll. I have an education and I choose to drive a truck why b/c it is in demand, challenging, good pay, independant lifestyle, and you could if you wish work for 5 years save every cent and buy your house car and have a great amount of retirement taken care of then take a local job.

  • I don't think a grade school education is over-rate, excepted by the ill-educated

  • I don't think a grade school education is over-rate, excepted by the ill-educated

Did you mean over rated? Does your mother know you are on her computer?

I hope you are very young because you just blew your reason for replying out the water. Improper tense, hardly any punctuation to me you have no argument on the side of getting a high school education let alone an elementary one.

  • I've always got people like you to check my grammer and spelling, just like the little button that does it for you in a word processing program, so I spend time typing the meat of what ever I'm talking about and let you clean up the little mistakes I've made in haste. Thanks for the help, but there are plenty of you. Like a secretary proof reading a PHD's work - thanks

  • Something isn't adding up here, you are not telling the truth somewhere.

  • think about it.

  • some of these guys were on NPR talking about their experiences. Doc definitely deprived them of some parts of their childhood for his selfish reasons. They say they still struggle with the realities of our society because the father did nothing to prepare them for it. It's actually kinda sad

  • Not so sure it was such a good thing....ever read Glass Castle??? This families story reminds me of such......not saying it is "wrong"...but is it "good"? is it really "better"? • What can one say? Life is a mixture. Any path chosen is compromise of some sort. Certainly it is extreme; but sometimes I think the system is faulty and an extreme rejection of it is necessary. And why not look to nature as a example? At some point in our future a disconnect with nature may lead to peril.
