Toyota just told me my moms Camry needed a new air filter ($40) and a AC filter ($30). Checked both, air filter was spotless white and AC filter was just a bit dirty. Both parts together at Autozone were a total of 19$. Don't let others take advantage of your lack in knowledge, educate yourself. And of course, thanks for the video, had no idea where the AC filter was located =]
I have a 96 RAV4, perhaps this works for my car. If not, I'll bet it comes close. At least it's given me the courage to go look. I'm pretty handy. Thanks for the vid!
@googlePaladin On our website we sell cabin filters that are made to fit and function exactly like the original filter, if not better. If you go to our website and search AQ1102 it'll take you straight to the purchase screen. Shipping is free and quick!
I'm a little confused. In my 2007 Camry owner's manual it says to have the arrow on the filter pointing up. The guy at my oil change place installed it with the arrow facing down, but after reading the manual, I reversed it. Does it make a difference?
@Lorax15 - In general, the airflow direction through the filter media is not critically important if you replace the filter on a regular basis. A new filter will perform nearly identically in either direction when you first install it. The issue is the filter's capacity to catch and hold lots of particles while not clogging up and restricting the air flow. Filter media is generally designed to be better at holding particles out way from the surface on one side.
Most cabin filters will have an arrow on them indicates which way the air should flow through them. In a Camry, the air flows down into the fan assembly (towards the floor) - so most manufacturer's filters (including ours) should be installed with the arrow down. Some manufacturers print an "UP" arrow on them - like the "THIS END UP" arrow you see on boxes. In this case, the arrow should point towards the sky. This case should be clearly marked the word "UP".
