I want to go to this beautiful music school, but has a score but I would understand, I love music but I had the opportunity NUMC give me a chance purfavor. I am 17 years eadoro Brazilian music, I have a imail me add, if I understand adolfi_raquel@hotmail.com thanks, goodbye ...
That's called introspection. When he leaves Julliard the student won't have a teacher in his pocket to consult with and he'll need to be able to analyze his own performances. Learning to do that is almost as important as anything else he might learn in school.
LOL I love how the pianist accompanies the teacher when he starts playing. The fact that the piano part at the beginning is so minimal just makes it funnier
lol to the beginning... neubauer asks the student what he thinks and the student is just in awe and doesn't organize his thoughts well..hes like: "it could have been..more- settled" And Neubauer just looks at him with a pretentious pause then's just like "okay" and grabs his viola to play for the student...not teaching him anything except for the fact that he rapes at viola
i think there better teachers than nebauer. he is a phenomenal musician, but from what i hear and based on this video, he doesn't seem very helpful. meaning he demonstrates too much rather than really teaching and engaging his students.
I know lots of violist at Julliard. The level is mixed, just like at any school. Some violist there are world class, others are not so world class. It's like that anywhere. You should just apply.
'What do you think?'..I think such feedback is just unhelpful- very often it just demoralises the performer and destroys everything he had just tried to accomplish.
@joshisaac "What do you think?" turns the result back to the performer, reexamine what he just played. If this is demoralizing, then he should quit this performance business and do something else.
@dasteufelhund i totally agree with you man, it helps the perform to look inside his performance and get to know himself musically, as opposed to just listening to the teacher talk and talk and really not getting it, having a teacher tell you what do you think is an excellent of helping you help yourself to be aware of what you re playing and doing. well said, dast! being a dick of a teacher will get you nowhere, its kindness and constructive criticism that makes you play beautifully.
THE STUDENT IS MY QUARTET COACH!! :D

@JaySkuh Teachers need to be dicks so the students are prepared for audiences. Don't understand why you don't get this concept.
