So all of you posting saying fuck the police and other stupid shit were all there apparently since you seem to know the full story. Lets hope you dont ever need the assistance of the police anytime in your life.
The man and his family are now filing a lawsuit for police brutality against the officer who slammed him down. They are also being set up with the best police brutality lawyers in the country, thanks to an bystander who was outraged and wants to help the family out. Trust me, this guy will be brought to justice and hopefully lose his job.
So what happened to the grandpa, i want to know if hes gonna do something like a lawsuit against those officers and if he is those officers deserve it, you dont use excessive force if someone doesnt even put on a fight or threaten them in any way, they didnt even give him a chance to explain is situation and they just bust him up like that, they deserve to get fired and taken of all their money for these kinds of behavior.
why didn't anyone do a citizens arrest on the officers? It would have been smart right? That was a felony assault by the officers. Way too much force even if he was shoplifting.
its shoplifting till you leave the store with it. So then gramps was violently knocked out for suspicion of shoplifting... wow.... things are getting bad.... real bad.... when you go Christmas shopping and get this as a gift.
This man will now own that Walmart and the town after he sues. There is also the issue of negligence as it doesn't look like they to much medical training as they twist and turn this gentleman's neck and wrestle him around on the floor. That's what you get with cops that don't know the law.
@mt7558 This man will now own that Walmart and the town after he sues. There is also the issue of negligence as it doesn't look like they to much medical training as they twist and turn this gentleman's neck and wrestle him around on the floor. That's what you get with cops that don't know the law.
your right clindberg1, this was totally unneccessary(so it seems) and wasn't shoplifting as one has to walk outside with the stolen item for it to be considered shoplifting. I'm not going to totally point the finger at the cops though as I didn't see what happened before he was thrown on to the ground. this does seem overly excessive though.
Regardless of that man's intentions, he did everything wrong and paid for it. The police were absolutely in line with their handling of his resistance. It is unfortunate that he was injured but it was his own foolish or careless actions that brought it on. The bystanders who tried to incite more trouble with their foul language (In the presence of small children.) and accusations and caustic comments demonstrated their foolishness by contributing absolutely nothing of worth to the situation.
@bbboogie1 What the hell is wrong with you? He did everything wrong? Unless you were there, how do you know what he did, or did not do? You assume that the police were right, and that the man was wrong. He didn't leave the store with the Merchandise, I was a Salaried Wal-Mart store manager before, and the policy is he has to leave the store with the merchandise. Even more disgusting then the act, is you mindlessly defending the police. You are a moron.
@phorrigan51 i heard people were trying to grab the game out of his hands …….so i guess he tried to hide it ……but im sure your right about being out of the store ….if he was going ti steal it he probably would have removed the beeper thing
@phorrigan51 Thank you for your reply. There is nothing wrong with me. The State of Arizona considers concealing items as a precursor to shoplifting and has enacted a law against it. That is why the man was being detained. Also, a WalMart employee alerted the police of the man's actions and put them on him, so, bash him while you're bashing the po-po. Police bashing can be fun but you should have a good, legitimate reason.Talk sense to fools and they call you foolish. Or a moron.
@bbboogie1 A merchant, or a merchant's agent or employee, with reasonable cause, may detain on the premises in a reasonable manner and for a reasonable time any person who is suspected of shoplifting as prescribed in subsection A of this section for questioning or summoning a law enforcement officer. A reasonable manner, that does not give you the right to throw a elderly man to the ground!.When a good man is hurt, all who would be called good must suffer with him. -Euripides
@phorrigan51 Also, I think its comical at best that the same "assumptions" you give towards this Police officer, you do not lend towards that man. Asking questions is an essential part of police investigation. You do not get a pass because you have a badge, you have to respect people, no matter the situation. So because the store is filled with thousands of people, he has the right to disrespect fundamental human rights?
@bbboogie1 Are you a fucking cop too who who gets his rocks off beating people up just cause they carry a badge ,, suppose that was your father ,,he did nothing wrong tha man was going to pay for the game,he was just trying to hide it from his grandson
@JohnnyMoonShooter Nope. Not a cop. My dad would not have done that. He has brains enough to know better. The cops can't read minds and I didn't read of this man announcing his intentions. Stop being silly, Johnnie. If you don't like the police that's your business, but, they did their job and it didn't turn out well for the old guy. All due to the man's resistance to authority. It's just that simple.
@bbboogie1 Not being silly I'm a Viet Nam vet and ex MP and not that i don't like police these guys overstepped their authority ,they did not have to use such force .

Police brutality anyone??? The grandpa had put the video game that he was going to buy for his grandson under his shirt bc the other kids were trying to take it away from him like dogs. And for the cops come on oinkers what are you thinking throwing a elderly man on the floor with full force for a video game not all cops all oinkers only a good amount.

I sure hope this guy is smart enough to take the cops to the cleaner! it is NOT shop lifting until he is outside the store!!! please convey this message to the poor granpa. from another grandpa who had taken police to the cleaner!!!
For one the guy talking to the cops with that language shouldn't but in this situation totally ok. I think it's hilarious they do that and then at one point you here the woman cop say " anyone here a doctor?" oh wow. Yeah oops you fucked up a tad bit.
Although I wasn't there and don't know the entire story, it isn't shoplifting unless you physically leave the store with an item in your posession that you haven't purchased yet. I, personally, will be reporting this incident to the police precinct in question.
why is it tht you always hear the hipster white folk in the background of these videos voicing their opinions toward the situation? I'm not trying to sound like a racist dick, but you see it in almost any police video here you got one guy talking badly about what a poor job they've done at assessing the situation (as if that accomplishes anything) and then you got the other one that's on the cop's side "GET BACK! GET BACK! LET THEM DO THEIR JOB!"
When i worked at a gas station, and we knew someone was trying/stealing, we'd have to wait til they went out the door, we would take the things back, and call the police and get their information.
Imagine if we just tackled EVERYONE who LOOKED like they were shoplifting?
And even still, this was an old man. They coulda just kept an eye on him and waited for him to try to leave, then cuffed him.
@spcrxracer Would you be able to think clearly when there are hundreds of people around you fighting just to get something? I don't think so. And you think a man should get his face bashed into the ground for allegedly "shoplifting?" No.

The cop's version of the story is obviously false. He said he had one cuff on the guy before the guy said he wasn't going to jail, and then the cop face-slammed him. But look at the first seconds of the video -- the cop takes out cuffs and puts them on when he is unconscious. He was not cuffed before. They are obviously lying just to save their behinds. I want to see the store surveillance video.
These so-called black Friday vendettas organized by these businesses are an immoral and criminal enerprise. The biggest shoplifters are the corporations and the governments that back them up. Send a message to superstores like Wal-Mart,, Target, Best Buy, Sears, and CVS; credit card companies and the banks that you refuse to allow them to rip you off from your hard earned money by selling you meaningless things that won't bring you happiness. BOYCOTT BLACK FRIDAY!!!" "
Keep up the good work. Encourage people to boycott these superstores during Christmas and New Years.
The law and court precedent clearly states that "shoplifting" does not occur until the item actually leaves the store. Sticking the item in your clothing has been proven not a crime in case after case. This was clearly abuse by the cops. Poor guy, I hope he is OK. The cops will conspire to make him look like the bad guy to cover their ass. They are out of control.
@ChristiansHaveDowns Thats where they fucked up. All they can really get him for is concealing merchandise and given what happened thats gonna be hard to prosecute. I look for this to be dropped as soon as he settles his law suit against the PD.
What part of "allegedly" don't you get. Soon there will be a 3rd world war initiated by your banking masters, and they will draft your "useless eater" ass to fight it. lock & load son, your off to show world the joy of compound interest. Btw, you will not be missed.
@j69reap I will say ONE positive thing for the police, they at least helped the victim instead of just standing around and antagonizing the crowd. I can see my local police just standing there and letting him bleed because they are worried about AIDS. Hell, my local police won't even shake my hand when I call them for help!
Was it really necessary to do that to the poor guy. No wounder there called damn pigs, I hope the guy sued the police department for the big bucks.

Thanks for uploading this, people need to see the truth about police.

@j69reap I will say ONE positive thing for the police, they at least helped the victim instead of just standing around and antagonizing the crowd. I can see my local police just standing there and letting him bleed because they are worried about AIDS. Hell, my local police won't even shake my hand when I call them for help!
