Thanks so much for sharing this.... I look at you and you're young men together and long so much for my own son, funny huh, I have my daughter and she is a great comfort to me and I love her dearly, but I'll always miss my son.
To know Alex, [and I know him such a short time] is to love him, both your sons are sweet and wonderful young people... Alex looking after Jonny the way he does is really remarkable in a world filled with selfish violent youth.
I can see the fellings in your eyes the moment you begin. Sandie, this is beautiful. More reason for me to begin that journal I planned on sharing with my parents.... Love ya! xoxox
Aw, thanks for the kind words! I didn't know you were going to do a journal to your parents, that would be an amazing gift that any parent would cherish.
Hugs to you, I miss your videos. I've been down with an eye infection, and haven't watched hardly anything for about 10 days. I sure wish it would heal...sigh...
Hope your eye heals soon! I haven't posted anything due to a broken camera (Grrrrrr!) so that means you can take it easy for a while, LOL! I wanted to do a journal for each of my parents because sometimes my brain works a bit differently when I am alone an reflecting. Somehow, it never comes out in words or ni general conversation. It's THERE, it's just difficult to express without being a cry baby.
Eye: not healed yet...back to Dr. today, new script & possible misdiagnosis...we'll see...
Keep it all crossed for me...I'm REALLY tired of eye pain & sitting in the dark...
You sound like me...I hate to cry...but, sometimes it just happens...tell your parents in one way or another...you'll feel great about it when it's all said & done... :)
I came across some greeting cards this past weekend that I filled out and never sent. You've inspired me to put few "just because" packages together. THANK YOU!
That was really beautiful. You accomplish so much in words what I could never tell my son. I guess that's the point of my video. You really have to send those letters and say those words. I love, love, your videos about family life.
As a mother myself i recognise the pride in your face and voice as you read this letter out. I think this is a very special video so thank you so much for attaching it here :-)
Aw, thank you! I agree, it sounds like we're both very blessed! And congrats on the Alex's!! My next door neighbor just had a new grandson, and he has the same first & middle names as my Alex. I thought it was pretty cool. :)
I appreciate it! He was very grateful for the letter. I tell him daily how much I love & appreciate him, but not to that extent on a daily basis. He had 3 letters to read in class that day. He said that it was very emotional. His teacher had him address an envelope to himself so she can send him those letters and a letter that he wrote to himself in 5 years. I think it was a great assignment.
Aw Sandi...this is absolutely priceless and I sure hope you've saved a copy of this for posterity. Alex and Johnny are extremely well rounded young men and that is due in large part to the time & energy you've devoted toward teaching them to be the best they can be. You are definitely a positive role model and they can't help but become thoughtful caring adults as well. Thank you so much for sharing this heartfelt vid with all of us! ♥
This is so very sweet, you should make sure to burn this vid on a disc so you can give it to him when he has his first son. It will be his most prized possession.
Thank you Daryl! I'm giving myself an assignment to burn copies of all of my videos so far, even the short dorky ones. That way my kids can embarrass me to my grandkids when they grow up. :)
I wish I had some video of my mom. She passed away almost 19 years ago, and I still miss her daily. I know that those things would be so greatly cherished.
i think one of the first videos of yours i watched you read "boy wanted". i was impressed with it then & am very impressed with it attached to your letter. what a lovely thing to give him ;)
Thank you Gail. I was thinking that I might have mentioned it before, I was just too lazy to go back and look. And, it's such a special poem to me that it's worth repeating.
Wow Sandi that letter to your son was amazing. All of those characteristics I believe were not just naturally there but ones that a caring compassionate good mum instilled in her children. Your sons are obviously very lucky to have you as you are them. I wish your son all the best in the next big part of his journey in the world. :)
Thank you Alesha for those kind words. The most refreshing thing this week has been having so many other people express how special Alex has been in their lives. And, to see him expressing his feelings to people has been just as amazing. He's been writing thank you notes to people to thank them for being in his life. I've had just way too many proud mom moments this week to count. It's just reminded me that you get back what you put into your children SO many times over.
very beautiful and touching. Made me cry because our kids grow up too fast. My son is 12 years old and Abby is almost 5years old and they will be growed up before I know it.
What a great letter to a great young man. Just remember though...behind any all around great man - is a great mom Sandi!! You are such a great mom...I see that and it's great to see!!
That is an incredible letter. I hope this doesn't come out wrongly, but it is almost like a living eulogy. I always thought eulogies were strange. Why praise a person when they are dead and cannot hear what people have to say about you? This is fantastic because he will know exactly what you think of him, but most importantly his character. Most people don't express themselves because they take it for advantage that people know you love them, etc. Thanks for sharing :)
Thank you Beth. I totally understand about the living eulogy. And I agree with you 100%. I think we need to tell people these things while they're still with us and not take things for granted. Thank you for watching it. :) :)
You did such a great job on your letter to Alex. But you to did get a bit emotional in writing your letter. He is such a wonderful person and I too am so very proud of my son from another mother. Just sitting down and thinking of him and writing who he is on paper makes you emotional what a great guy.
Thank you Kathi for always being such a good friend and second Mom to Alex. I'm so glad that you were able to be at graduation tonight. You are closer than many blood members of our family, and we love & appreciate that (and no, I don't think I need to explain that, lol, you completely know what I'm talking about.)
Whew!
Wanna go to the gym this morning?
Yeah right....I think sleep is going to come first. I think I'm giving myself permission to wait until Monday for the gym.
beautiful is not a word to describe that letter, because it's far from beautiful. it is heartfelt, remarkable, amazing, it's a true meaning of love. It's a letter from a parent that every child wants. There are so many children that try to do the best they can in there parents eyes and when a parent can tell them that they have done it it's showing them they are doing the right thing in life. Sandi, that letter is just i can't even describe. Alex is so lucky to have a mom like you. GREAT JOB!!!!!!
Thank you Tree, that was SO sweet of you! I'm challenging myself to make it through all of these comments without a tear, and you're challenging me right back right now.
very well written - you did a great job last night! that was such a great idea, getting the letters. good teacher! and wonderful mom! Alex is very lucky!
