@nilhav it doesn't say many will be cut off...it says that he...will be cut off...so all the jews would have to die if this means all Israel. But they are still here. All prophecy doesn't exalt Israel...some prophecies their exile from the land...some prophecies about the Messiah, and some prophecies are about other things like the anti-christ etc.
There are countries and parts of the world that still haven't heard the report about Jesus. The gospel must go to the ends of the earth
The messiah is earth our mother according to native Americans "Indigenous Americans" realistically their right because what hated man or women can do anything to save us when there are those who want to kill people and the earth now is the time to listen to her cry's of sorrow because she longs to nurture us and all for the glory of Gods creation there is a place for us in his universe
According to the Hebrew text, these kings will say because of the transgression of my people, THEY (plural) were stricken. And he gave his grave to the wicked, and to the wealthy in his DEATHS (plural). The servant is 53 is not a single individual. Sorry.
From H4191; death (natural or violent); concretely the dead, their place or state (hades); figuratively pestilence, ruin: - (be) dead ([-ly]), death, die (-d)."
If you want to quote Rabbis, you are quoting about another concept, a different messiah, the messiah son of Joseph, not son of David. This son of Joseph speaks of the firstborn tribe of Joseph. In Judaism many different ideas can be pulled from the text, but the literal meaning is the foundation. The Messiah Ben Joseph is not an ancient concept from before Yeshua.
@nilhav the ancient Rabbis talked about the leper Messiah, or He who would take the sickness of the people upon Himself...which He did come to heal our diseases. They used to think it might be a different Messiah...but since Daniel says that the Messiah has to come before the destruction of the second temple...this shows that the Messiah ben Yoseph has already come, and he promised to return as King.
Why are you depending on the various interpretations of Rabbis? What does the word of God say? The anointed one in Daniel is not the son of David. the term "The Messiah" was not used in the Tanakh for the son of David, but is a term coined afterward.
@nilhav I am just proving the concept of the suffering servant Messiah is an ancient Rabbinical teaching, and is a Jewish concept. Messiah is a term for the anointed one of God...there were others who were also anointed by God...but the Messiah was the one anointed to bring ultimate reconciliation between God and men.
@nilhav study ancient Rabbis commentary on who the leper Messiah was..it was believed a Messiah would come to take our infirmities and sickness...which Yeshua did..."by His stripes we are healed" and He also will come back to fulfill the role of Messiah ben David.
Sorry, but the Servant of the Servant Song is collectively the people of Israel. You have based your faith on the fact that the servant is spoken as a single individual, but that is how Israel is addressed in this Servant Song as a single individual servant. It does not say servants, but servant. This servant is spoken in singular & plural terms. It is a far distance to base my faith on an assumption, when God clearly says who the servant is.
@nilhav The servant is contrasted with the people of Israel. vs 6 "the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all." He, the servant, took the sins of all Israel. The servant can't be Israel in this passage, b/c He took (us) Israel's sins....a well known passage to talk about the Messiah by ancient Rabbis
The term "astonied" means literally "like a stone", or "petrified." The person is described as so disfigured that those who see Him are petrified. What they are hearing and seeing is indescribably graphic, and never before seen. The Hebrew word translated "visage" is ordinarily used to describe a beautiful face, but now that face had been "marred" ("corrupted") more than any other had ever experienced. His face and body had been so cruelly tortured that He no longer even looked human.

@thinkingfour Romans 1 says that we are not to worship the earth, but worship the maker of the earth, God Himself.

Interesting about the rabbi who said anyone that doesn't accept the messiachs sacrifice then have to suffer because of his own sins.

@nilhav Isaiah 53:12 "H4194

From H4191; death (natural or violent); concretely the dead, their place or state (hades); figuratively pestilence, ruin: - (be) dead ([-ly]), death, die (-d)."
Death is singular.
