The house was built of wooden planks, which means that, if he had thrown a grenade just inside that room, its explosion would have been indicated by curtains and debris thrown out of windows, even wall damaged by blast, but that never happened. @hughster41 Well here's the thing, Koresh didn't really leave the Mount Carmel complex. He had almost a years worth of rations. But I agree with the budget thing. Also, it was the FBI and U.S National Guard who made the weapons statement. After a couple days, the F.B.I took control of the operation. Maybe this would have went down better if an agency with their plans right, guns silenced, mouths shut, and heads straight was in command. I would have saved many lives, including in Oklahoma...

The Waco Seige was a screw-up. It was wrong for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) to send in as many of their ATF Agents as possible to execute this search warrant. I was wrong to rquest the assistantance of the FBI, Texas National Guard, and the Texas Rangers. This operation should have been a covert operation, but thanks to all of the media assholes, the plan was exposed...the newspaper was aked to keep it on the dl, but instead they practically told Koresh all about it.

This whole event is a senseless tragedy. From the time the atf encountered heavy fire on trying to enter the building they should have retreated. The moment the first shot was fired all logical and reasonable thought was gone. In general they look very undisciplined in shooting and unfamiliar with basic tactics and common sense. If the people inside wanted to shoot at them the sheet metal car body does NOTHING to stop a rifle bullet. These agents are as green as they come, with very little training and almost no experience.

I am not going to comment on the merits of the raid on waco, it will only detract form the point I am going to make. As a soldier, this has got to be the WORST example of a dynamic entry known to man. The ATF agents were sloppy and slow. The ATF Agent in Charge came out and told the press (other video) that they had trained for weeks to execute that raid, what a load of crap! They were just plain sorry. So note to self the ATF does not know how to actually execute a top down dynamic entry.

@ waffle, it also dephends on your interpetation of Law. Do you follow State Law or Federal Law. Im from Texas and we are EXTREMELY Pro 2nd amendment. Texas Law unlike the federal law, DOES NOT call for permits, licsences, or background checks to buy weapons. So under our state law they broke no law. This was a federal witch hunt. Our problems with ATF in Texas. Is like DEA with dispensrys in California. They ignore our State laws. FUCK THE FEDS!!

@ Waffle the ATF shot first. Some of the ATF agents have admitted that. There was confusion by the agents because they thought that the fire from their dog team (that took out the dogs behind the compond) was coming from inside the compound. And Yes they had FFL license for all the weapons. THEY WERE IN THE GUN SHOW BIZZ!! Genius. So of course they had the parts. It only takes a few seconds to convert a semi auto to full auto. Gun dealers carry parts so you can buy a part to fix your gun.

They had no licenses or permits for anything they had. ATF is just doing their job so nut cases like this who think they can rape kids and stockpile illegal weapons cant hurt the general public.

And calling these agents cowards is doing nothing but making you look like a fool. Surviving Branch Davidians claimed they did not start the blaze. Arson investigators say Davidians were responsible for igniting three fires simultaneously in three different sections of the compound. Many Davidians died from smoke inhalation when intense fire raced through the compound; others were fatally injured when debris collapsed on them during the fire, and others were shot to death by either suicide or mercy killings by Koresh himself or other members of the cult.
