It is likely that many of the natives of the area around Carthage at the time are what would now be called Black Africans. Look no racism meant but Hannibal was not African in his origin. he, his family and Carthaginian nobility were Phoenicians and identified themselves as so, the gods they worshiped 'Baal, Astarte " were Canaanite gods.
