If you don't have a job or insurance, you go to the emergency room and by law you have to be treated. There should be a maximum age for Supreme Court justices. I say nobody over the age of 65 should be allowed on the court. Once you get to a certain age you become out of touch with the issues of the younger generations and thus have no buisness representing their will on the high court.

No, they really aren't. Mexicans want to get in here because we don't suck as bad as them, but the age of european immigration to america is over. European nations have better health care, less crime, more civil rights, less of their soldiers dying, better energy use, more per capita income, they pollute less, their education system is better, and much more, at the cost of slightly higher taxes, but it's worth it. And I am thinking of moving to either Britain, Sweden or Denmark eventually.

Do I hate America? I hated Bush's Patriot Act, unintelligent america that brought us to the edge of the cliff with sharp rocks at the bottom, but I do want my country to improve, and I see Obama taking steps to improve it. All of our social ills that I mentioned before, health care, energy, education, etc. Obama has taken steps to help fix. You call that bad? And I really wouldn't mind living in Canada or Denmark. I've been there before and it seems absolutly fine.

Everyone in Canada says that their health care system is better than ours, Obama has done NOTHING that benefits only one race, he took Chavez's book because it was the polite thing to do and it was put into his hand. I don't really know much about Latin American history so I cannot comment on that, but from what I do know, we have been pretty involved with their buisness.

You and your liberal friends obviously don't know that under socialized medicine there is a waiting list to have surgery or see a specialist, sometimes it takes weeks to get an appointment. You could be deathly ill by then. As a physician, I know this to be true. You get what you pay for.
If you have a head injury in Canada, they don't do an MRI unless you meet strict criteria. That is why the late actress Natasha Richardson was not given a scan. She might have been saved with an MRI.

My understanding of Natasha Richardson is that she refused to go to the hospital. By the time she did, it was too late. Also, we have socialized medicine right now. If you don't have a job or insurance, you go to the emergency room and by law you have to be treated. And, if you are worried about your credit report, most loan agencies do not count medical bills on your report as negative. So, I am tired of hearing the negative remarks about socialized medicine. We got it now.

There was an MRI machine in the small hospital that Ms.
Richardson did go when she started to have a headache.
This is the hospital near the ski resort. She was still alert, there was still adequate time to drill a burr hole in her skull to relieve the pressure and save her life. Of course an MRI would have to be done to diagnose the subdural hematoma. They don't routinely do those in Canada.
Indigent patient expenses are written off by hospitals & doctors. It is not socialized medicine.

In a life threatening situation, whether in Canada or Europe, u r rushed in2 surgery. In the US, u won't get surgery if u do not have insurance, or the ins. co. rejects ur claim. I have friends in Canada who needed care while they were visiting they had to cut their vacation short and go back home in order to get treated. That's not the case when US citizens visit there.

I know exactly how many. I myself slipped on the ice and needed stitches. I have great insurance, but I waited 8 hours at my local emergency clinic. Emergency rooms are over crowded, I have waited for 12 hours or more with each of my parents. But when I need an MRI no bureaucrat tells me I can't have it. I communicate with physicians in Canada, you have no idea how the government run healthcare ties their hands. You need to educate yourself and start taking your medication.

I agree with what you say, but I think you are idealizing other countries. I have lived abroad and have traveled- it is no bed of roses in other countries. As much as I love Europe it has its own problems, and has for decades. No country is superior in my opinion.

If Obama appoints and the Democratic Senate confirms a SC nominee that is liberal, pro-choice, pro-equal marriage, and pro-civil rights, he'll probably go down in history as the President who won it for the liberals.

Don't think O wants to alienate Whites, but a lot of damage has happened to lower-income White and Black Americans in the past 30 years, and nobody has addressed the economic hardships that have made racial tension explode. Mostly, the dialog is about accepting immigrants, and that discounts the ongoing needs of Black/White Americans who are struggling to hold onto jobs and homes. We need a dialog on this that does not simple call poor Whites racist if they are discontent.

WW2 saved us because we achieved an output we could never again match at an efficiency point we will never reach again. men who didn't have jobs were drafted or enlisted and now had an income. they could work in plants that never had to worry about diminishing demand.
gov't doesn't spend money efficiently enough these days to promote a growth in output that would increase income for the average American.
