Get out of the box you live and, for example where i am from American's accent is sometimes hard to understand for us. Instead of expecting people to be like you, learn that everyone has their way of speech and accents.
Where did the presenter learn to speak and pronounce English, her pronunciation of many places, civilisations and people keep distracting me from what would otherwise be an extremely good documentary.
@bigbeddie DetroitDiesel6V71 complaint about Hughes' pronunciation is particularly ironic considering her/his spelling. Besides, it's more than "standard British English" as that is what is used in the English-speaking world. American English spelling and pronunciation is the anomaly.
@DetroitDiesel6V71 The presenter is clearly British. Yes, "Daedalus" pronounced like that is annoying, but I suppose that's what she learned at school....
The way we Americans mispronounce it is as if it were spelled with two "N"s.
In American mispronunciation, it would be spelled minNotaur, but since it is only one "N", the ;letter "o" reaches across that lone "N" and affects the "i" before it and it must be pronounced as a long vowel.
heheh she said homo

Not everyone in the world is an American...

This presenter, Bettany Hughes, has more ancient historical knowledge in her little pinky than all you complainers put together.

@BenitovonSchrader What's wrong with Detroit's spelling? Civilisation? That's standard British English.

Everytime she pronounces Minotaur it makes me cry and my left eye twitch.

@kifferd I like the way she says minotaur.
Besides, that is the correct way to say it.
