Glad to hear/see that the band's still going strong at York. I'm class of '77 -- we were called the "Concert Band" back then. I had the privilege of playing under Mr. Reimer, who built up the program during his long tenure there. Sadly, he retired before my senior year -- his immediate successor left something to be desired.
Why "York" and not "Elmhurst" High? It's in York Township, originally served the towns of Addison and Villa Park, too.
Maybe, the low-fidelity of my crappy little Kodak camera is confusing you... If you think that a 7th grade band could possibly out-perform a SYMPHONIC band of one of the best music programs in the Chicago area, you must have something wrong with you.
i am a york high school graduate... i now freelance with Louisville Symphony Orchestra, Orlando Philharmonic, and have subbed with the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra. when i was at York i was first chair IMEA honors all state band 2 years in a row. I can safely say york high school is perhaps the strongest music program in the state (at least when I was there... class of 2006).
lol well, we played this in grade 10 when our band was 10-12, and now im in grade 12 and we conned our teacher to play it again xD but the band is only 11 and 12 so only the 12s remember it and lol its just funny, it isnt sleigh ride without the whip crack
There's a reason why the description says "Elmhurst, IL." Don't ask why the school is called York instead of Elmhurst, It just is, and has been for almost 90 years now.
Great to see Mr. P still has his touch, and that the band gets better every year. Good Luck in retirement!
i remember playing this song at my school last year, i played the xylophone and slap stick
