  • This is fantastic! Amazing Love, how can it be, that thou my God shouldst die for me!

  • Awesome ! Loved your arrangement and that Church is so beautiful - thank you for sharing you talent with us.

    Blessings - Lance †

  • this is amazing.... with an organ that ISNT electronic! its just an amazing hymn!

  • @SamuelChung94 Charles Wesley is my favorite hymn writer, it's is one of the greatest songs on the saving power of Jesus Christ.

  • Fine rendition and outstanding accoustics..too bad the RCs would never allow this worderful hymn during their worship. Too "Anglican", let alone "Wesleyian", for a high mass, some might say. Still, the words are inspirational no matter what your tradition may be..

  • @BenAliGtor Completely Agreed, way too protestant for Catholocism, just right for me and you. ;)

  • So fine...please consider making a video of the very powerful hymn "We Have An Anchor" also referred to as "Will Your Anchor Hold". There are a number of videos, however, no really good ones that I've found played on the organ.. Blessings and Many Thanks for your contribution to my enjoyment of the day...

  • @williamtlor I will look around and see if I can't find a good arrangment of that hymn for you. Thanks for the comment and God bless.

  • I enjoyed this. its one of my favorite hymns, I loved the warmth of the reeds. It would be cool, if you were able to bring ot out more, and maybe change some of the chords.

  • Hi Karen

This is the lovely organ music I was telling you about. He plays it with such gusto and slightly unusually.

Please note the Papal Flag outside the Cathedral!

    Love Peter

  • Talk about magnificent in every way! 5/5 and subscribed

  • Thank you so much! To God be the glory.

  • Love your organ playing

  • Thank you, I enjoy playing the little bit that I can.

  • @jpwsml Where is the church located?

  • Toledo Ohio. It's the Rosary Cathedral.

  • Very nice - thanks for sharing - Lance †

  • Stunning!

  • It really is a beautiful instrument. Thanks for the input!

  • Amazing

  • Wonderful demonstration of this instrument! Very much look forward to seeing and trying it sometime

  • Jonathan,

    Wonderful performance ..

Great video .. magnificent church and equally aweinspiring organ and acoustics! 5*s

  • Thank you, I apreciate it!

  • Beautiful church, very nice camera work, and above all most beautifully performed. Thank you very much.

  • Thank you, it was a wonderful experience. I'm glad you enjoyed this wonderful hymn.

  • Musica dolce, interpretata con grande maestria, padronanza dello strumento ed immensa musicalità.

Ascoltare questo artista è una grandissima emozione. Bravissimo! 5*

  • Thanks for the nice remarks! God bless you!

  • How did you enjoy playing this Skinner organ? I live in the town where this organ and cathedral are located, and I have to say that the organ sounds even better in person that it does here in this video.

  • I totally agree. A camera mike loses a lot in the transition and speakers are very poor substitutes for the real thing! It was just a wonderful experience to play such a marvelous instrument. I hope to go back sometime and do it again!

  • Its an awesome hymn to begin with, but I love the final touch - the amen that isn't used as much anymore. Thanks!

  • I'm glad you liked it. I'm sure Charles Wesley would be happy so many people still get a blessing from his hymns.

  • punchachristian1 -- This organist is playing this hymn at a very appropriate tempo for this room. If you think you can do better, why don't you post your own damned videos and prove it!

  • That's amazing for an "impromptu" rendition of an awesome (and meaningful) hymn. It must be great to repair these incredible instruments and then "test" them with your most favorite hymns.

  • Thanks for your comment, it is really a great blessing to see them operate after all the work, I just wish I had more time to play them. It's usually so fleeting I don't get to enjoy it like I'd like to.

  • pull that stick out yer ass organist, you put no life in this amazing hymn

  • Thank you for your comment, I'll try to do better next time. Your right though it is an amazing hymn I love it so much.

  • I guess your YouTube name says it all!!!

What a rude and crass remark to make, no matter how a person would be performing, but you know about as much about organ playing as a monkey cranking a hurdy gurdy! That church with it's beautiful interior and terrific acoustics for that magnificent organ demanded that piece to be played the way it WAS played, otherwise it would have been chaotic. IT indeed had life to it,and was performed PROFESSIONALLY !Now STICK that where the sun don't shine, wiseguy.

  • This comment was meant for PUNCHACHRISTIAN1 poster earlier .. I don't know how it ended up here !!

Sorry about the confusion! (It was NOT meant for JPW !!

  • Without reading the description, I could tell by the sound that it might be a Skinner...precious few of these that haven't been messed with.

  • Yep, I helped pull one out of a church in detroit this winter, it was still in its original configuration and just perfect condition.

  • I recently discovered this hymn tune, and I like it. Unfortunately it isn't in the hymnal (Episcopal, 1940) that we use at my church, so we don't sing it. Being the organist/choirmaster at my church, I've got a collection of hymnals in my personal library, and came across it while looking for another hymn tune. Well done.

  • That's great, it's a wonderful hymn.

  • A glorious setting of Wesley's SAGINA, and the video is beautifully edited too. You will enjoy, if you have not aleady seen it, the setting from the BBC's Songs of Praise sung at I would assume is Aldersgate in London. An Unitarian, this is one of my favorite hymns also.

  • Thank you. The text is my favourite for hymns, Bold I aproach the Eternal throne, My chains fell of my heart was free. Thank God for dying for our sins and rising victorious!

  • Glorious!

The excellence to which the gospel of Christ calls us in all things.

    Hallelujah! and thank you.

  • I'm glad you liked it, it's one of my all time favourite hymns. Your welcome.

  • Enjoyed this very much! Played it loud and proud! The way I prefer it :)

  • That's the way we sang it in the Baptist church. Loud and Proud! "Bold I aproach the eternal throne..."

  • Thank you so much for this wonderful, wonderful video, and your message. You are indeed talented, and kind.

  • Thank you Wayne.

  • ***** Well done! I liked the way you "moved up" with each verse, and the nice "full" sound on the final verse. To God be the glory!

  • Thanks, and yes, To God be the glory!

  • This is good Jonathan. Sounds beautiful at 2:18 the last recording I heard of this organ was among JAV's recordings.

  • Thanks, I wasn't to thrilled about my voices in the middle, I was just concentrating on what to do for the end. It was a bit better thought out. I heard about the organ through JAV's recordings.

  • Yeah, I heard that in the middle but still it must be grand to play one of E.M. Skinner's largest instruments.

  • It was great, I hope to go back sometime and be prepared I know I can do better with the voicing. Also next time have some of my arrangments with me. :D

  • I've had a go at come sweet death ;)

  • Me too! Another two weeks and I think I'll try to post it, I might try to save it for the Cathedral though If I get to go back. : )

  • That would be a good idea, you would make an even bigger attraction on such a historic organ.

  • Awh you did a great job, no preparation necessary. I love the sound of a Skinner organ.

  • Thanks, you are too kind!

  • Excellent, very well played.

  • Thank you, I wish I would have had some time to prepare for it.
