Was not the cyclists fault. Look at all the pedestrians around. The car driver was going much too fast and should have slowed down for the busy pedestrian crosswalk.
@masterknaster the fact you need Master in your ID shows you have esteem issues and if I were you get a trained monkey to take you through your life as long as the monkey isnt educated you should be OK..
well the car driver could not see the cyclist as he came around the people walking across the road and then in-front of the car... Dumb cycles damage the guys car, make him pay for its repair
Were you even watching the video?!? The guy was going straight and cut hard left in front of that car without even looking! Totally 100% the cyclist's fault.. And yes, drivers in cars do own the road, that's who they were built for.. They are bigger, heavier and always win in collisions with bicycles so if ur going to "share" the road try to follow the same rules and shoulder check before changing lanes or you'll end up like this idiot..
I ride a bike(I generally do more miles on my bike) and drive car and I see stupid things all the time from both bike and car rider/drivers. I agree cars etc, dont own the roads.
But riding like a twat and breaking road rules, don't endear rides to drivers.
When your on a bike you have to think ride defensively.
@allads My comment is not for drivers like you, is for drivers who don't feel any respect for cyclists. I got hit by an idiot who thought I didn't have right to use the rode, thats why this type accidents pisses me of so hard. I didn't get hurt but the stupid asshole broke my bike.
Just imagine for a moment that all cyclist quit riding bikes and begin riding in trucks and cars, how much the gas price would raise, 8 fuckin dollars a gallon at least.
Firstly, great effort incorrectly identifying me, no idea how you could tell what I look like.
Secondly, when you have a job which requires you to travel from consultancy office to consultancy office you tend to rack up a fair few miles, which, if you actually enjoy getting paid, you'd be required to turn up on time, which, I would find extremely difficult to do on a push bike.
Thirdly, I spend 2 nights a week at rugby training and a 3 mornings at the gym. :)
@bidefordrfc Let me guess After you work and get pay for driving a couple of miles you go to the gym and pay your membership for pedal stationary bicycles that won't take you anywhere right?
I don't get paid for driving, I get paid for working as a structural design consultant. My driving is paid for by my company. Correct I do pay for gym membership, its £70 for a year, however I do not pedal on stationary bikes, I use my gym time for weight training. I do cardio in rugby training and the occasional jog on the beach in the evenings.
Any more attempts to try and insult my lifestyle? want to ask about my diet too? or perhaps the CO2 emissions of my car?
@bidefordrfc My second comment was not attempting to insult your lifestyle and I'm not really interested in your diet, about the smoke emissions of your car maybe affects me a little bit but I'm not gonna ask you to stop driving the intentions of my comments are very simple to create conscience about cyclists we pay our taxes like any other citizen and we have the same right to use the rode as anyone else. we prefer to do cardio while we go to work and that's all.
I have a conscience about cyclists, however i feel if cyclists are going to cycle on the road then they should abide by the rules that perhaps motorcyclists have to obey. I get that cars are different, much bigger and therefore cannot edge passed in traffic but motorcyclists can, however they do not weave + dodge and effectively choose their paths RANDOMLY as many (including the guy in the video) cyclists tend to!
Those that don't and generally make their way carefully are fine
Im a cyclist and nothing makes me more angry than a shared sidewalk (bikes and peds) and people stare at you as if they have downsydrom when your coming at them on a bike. I bought a pneumatic airhorn for my bike and dont hesitate to use it on people to get them out of my way. Here in Japan its the opposite, you can be sited for a ticket if you ride your bike in the street when there is sidewalks available for bicycles.
Allowing bikes on the sidewalks might make pretty good sense. After all, when's the last time there's been a fatal collision between a bicycle and a pedestrian? Instead, we're being forced to trust the drivers behind us not to run us over, and hope that the drivers parking ahead of us don't open their doors in our faces.
In this case I'd say both are 50/50 at fault. Cyclist swerves around the people walking in the crosswalk to avoid hitting them. Then, the car floors it to the crosswalk timing it just right, when the cyclist (already planning to go to the other side) meets the car. The driver has no idea that the cyclist had intentions on veering back because looking at the video it appears the cyclist was in his own lane going straight.
@geppegep After reviewing the video again and contemplating different scenarios, I must agree it is the fault of the cyclist. The 2 people crossing had left too soon, possibly on a yellow or red (seeing as the cars prior had already gone through to the other side) The cyclist thinks that he to could make it across, but since the car has the right of way, he veers in to the path of the vehicle. This is an illegal action by the cyclist anyway. Well it would be here where I'm from.
@OPOCHKA i'm a cyclist..i wouldnt mind license or plates...i already pay insurance.... and then what would be the next driver "justified" excuse for running me or another cyclist off the road saying we dont belong there
@OPOCHKA Nope. We're not allowed to ride on pedestrian walkways. Only signed shared paths or segregated paths. Otherwise an offence is being commited.
@Nathan112291 yup... my little cuz ran into a parked car on his bike and busted the car up pretty good so we called the cops. I asked if he's ever given a ticket to a cyclist. He said only once... when a kid was riding his bike on a cross walk and a car hit him!
@Nathan112291 It's also illegal in most places to drive through a crosswalk when there are people anywhere in it, no matter how far away you are from them.
Screw cyclists man! All they do is cause trouble. I mean its fine if they are in a bike lane or on the sidewalk, but when they are on the streets they're just asking for trouble. The streets are meant for cars people!
@iloveKianaDexter That is how people cross the street and people like you are the reasons why we get hit because you guy don't whent to share the road with bikes or kids or people just walking. You guys just whent to talk on cell phones and drive like you don't have care it all.
@iloveKianaDexter are you stupid , you know how many times i drive down the street and i see bike pictures in the middle of the car lane? and i dont know what part of the world you live in but in california you get a ticket for riding on the sidewalk, you speak english right what is it called repeat after me, side...WALK moron
@xEquinexLuverx No its not a stunt i got hit by a car on my bike and got knocked off i fractured 2 bones in my foot but even with that i got up and limped onto the side walk besides my foot i was in no pain
@rocketman5989 I'm a "cyclist" (not exclusively) and what the dude on the bike did is just idiotic, the car could never have guessed that or reacted to it on time.
