Just Wonderful!  I think that they are both great singers. And I think that they do go well together despite what others have written.

I agree, individually they are excellent, but the voices don't blend. He overpowers her and her voice is much cleaner and crisper. They aren't really singing together either, it seems very him and her.

I have never heard of Teddy Tahu Rhodes until today. I picked up a compilation cd in my local cd store of classical/operatic singers and his picture was one of the few on the front.

I thought "Not another freakin' tenor! I have heard enough of them, especially the faux pas ones winning stupid talent contests!"

So I was delightfully surprised that he is a baritone. I love his voice, and I've only heard two songs so far.

But this duet is completely mismatched. Their voices don't work together

although both very good singers in their own right, i think they're mismatched here. his voice is SO powerful hayley simply cannot compete for stage presence against him.

I completely agree with you. I think they should have picked a guy with slightly sharper voice to do this, that way the contrast isn't so significant between the two singers.

i agree that their voices don't match. but i think hayley's voice is strong - teddy's is just so low and deep it doesn't fit with hers.

I love these two. They have good voices that blend in the perfect way! Good song too, even if it is mushy.

This is mushy to the limit, but who cares. It's clean and well produced. Anyway, It's OK to get lost in a little mushiness, and I for one miss coming face to face with Teddy if only just to say hello, so I watch this to hear his voice and see his eyes..until we meet again...

For those who say he's too imposing for her...he's really not a pop singer at all - this is the first time I've heard him do this genre. His forte (no pun intended, naturally) is opera. They probably had his mike turned off in this concert - lol!

Um, they don't have the mike turned off because you can hear the wind 'pops' on the low notes and "t's", the low rumble of mike 'proximity' which means he's not used to mike technique. But yes, that's because he's an stellar opera performer.

Yeah, I actually do know that...His voice - sans mike - fills large halls, but this setting wouldn't be acoustically kind.

He's a big lad and could make a lot of noise! I don't think that he is being imposing in this clip though. He could be if he went all out, but I don't think he is - seems to me that he's adapting to the duet situation and not being too imposing.

Aaaah exactamundo! I agree with you both there...sadly, few halls are designed with the end function in mind. They go for the visuals or budget-bin instead of the sound and stagesets. Luckily, there are a couple around the globe..
