  • Buy a G37 if you want a reliable car with no surprises...buy an RX8 for something fun to drive that is a complete wildcard that has no torque and will have its share of problems.

  • That rotary in the RX-8 has no place being in an everyday driver car. It is way too gas hungry, and finding a clean running example is more trouble than it's worth

  • G37 shouldn't even be here too expensive by comparison, Genesis Wins overall.

  • haha todd put the g37 in last, even though it's the most expensive, most luxurious, best performing, and most reliable. i guess a rx8 is a real step up from the 20 year old 300zx he goes home in. strictly rating a car by it's "sports car" appeal and you call yourself "everday driver" ? I don't know anyone who wants to drive an rx8 everday.

a $25k platform like an rx8, or gen coupe against a $38k platform like a g37? get real, there is no comparison, unless you're grading based on price alone.

  • @thedenimvault I drive my R3 everyday.Sure, I pay at the pump and miss the power but its a thrill to drive on the track. I'm curious they didn't do one the '09+ Rx8's, the old ones had a lot of problems

  • @FoxhoundJay

why the 04 I dont understand either, I too drive the R3, series 2 RX8, my opinion is that it looks much more refined and also rated 3rd by Car and Driver for best handling sports cars under 100k! Also there was no mention of flicking the traction control off on the 8... I find it transforms my car into a whole new driving experience...It may burn the gas but in my opinion the new rx8s are definitely better looking :)

  • you know, a g37s is about $42 now, and an 08 used one unless it's damaged or salvaged still go for $26 to 28. $19,900? where do you get these figures? from some salvage car stealership advertisement?

  • I hate that clock. In an S Class Mercedes-Benz, fine, have a clock, but a G37...?

  • "It's one of those rare cares that are more attractive in person than on camera."

I thought most cars were like that.

  • i think these guys just choose the car that matched their shirts lol

  • Any thoughts on the G37 IPL coupe vs. the BMW 335iS? (I saw your review on the iS vs. the S5 and Cadi CTS)

  • you guys ever think of compairing old, 80's 90's cars against todays sports cars?i got an old 86 mr2, mint, its fun to drive and beats all na 4banger cars of today, even some factory turbo 4's.i'll let you guys borrow it.lol

  • the g35 was way better

  • i have this car and im proud or owning one and hate it when ppl criticize this car, so please dont compare this to a Hyundai

  • I choose the G37,its a 2+2 car,its a great grand tourer.I just wish the steering wheel could a bit heavier so it delivers more feeling to the driving

  • agree with this review, the genesis feels very alive and its agile and nimble

  • Todd - your argument is nuts... buy a Z if you want performance.. buy a G if you want performance with luxury, lower insurance and wife with oh god kids in the back... Both the Hyundai and Mazda loose their value ASAP and their lower quality and re-sale value prove it. You should add the real competition to the G which is the BMW for those that love conservative (boring) design.and or Z vs Boxer (over priced and lower performance). I had a twin turbo Z in 1990 and waited till 2006 for the G.

  • @wavesdvdcom - Well, Todd owned a 1990 300zx, and is a big fan of the Z cars in general. But he still finds the Genesis to be a real competitor here. It's not refined, but it is fun to drive. Great resale value is often an indicator of market demand more than actual quality - Keep in mind Hyundai has one of the best warranties in the industry so a used Genesis is a pretty safe gamble. Of course, since the guys disagree, we encourage others to do the same.

    Thanks for watching and commenting!!

  • @EverydayDriver - LOL - Well, I owned a 1990 Twin Turbo Z, one of the first shipment 1 per dealer in San Francisco. My custom license plate would be seen as politically incorrect now... but the frame said "Porsche Substitute" (from the old 1984 days - "there is no substitute" tag line). My plate was "911SREZ" would be considered a Bin Ladin plate now. Needless to say in 1990, it had the same specs as my 2006 G35 - 300hp + similar performance. I waited 16 years to buy the same performance.

  • @EverydayDriver - Sorry, I can't help myself - I need therapy... but no wonder you liked the gutless RX-8 as it was very similar to the non turbo 1990 Z +2 backseats. Sorry, but true. I drove both and wanted more HP and torque. They were more like a Honda Prelude or 90's Acuras rather than real sports cars. The Twin Turbo Z won best sports car of the year like 6-8 years in a row in one of the car mags. It's sad that HISTORY has forgotten what a super car it was - way ahead of it's time.

  • @wavesdvdcom - We hope you've watched our Z car comparison. 300zx TT vs. 350z vs. 370z. As a Z car fan, you'll probably enjoy it. And as far as the RX8 is concerned, since you watched the review you probably noticed we agree with you about the lack of power.

  • @EverydayDriver yo guys where can you buy an 08 G37 for $19,900? I mean other than the wrecked ones that is...

  • Rx-8

  • the mustang's power and handling has vastly improved, as well as look, its not like before where many debated that its a sports car, but now you have to respect it. I believe its over used, but its great esp the new 5.0, but in corners it slacks, on straightways, thats what its meant for, the new 5.0's still need handling improvement... for i can name several vehicles that i enjoy on twists than the stang.

  • i have driven all 3 models, and i actually own a se3p mazda 04 rx8, and i have to say, overall the g37 is nice to cruise with and the power it asks is great, but overall the mazda rx8 hands down is the funnest to drive, the handling is very impressive and the growl from the rotary is like no other... I went ahead and put tien coilovers on it, and its beyond this world, i'm actually scared to tune full suspension unto the rx8, the genesis is great coming from hyundai, but maaann the rx8 is great.

  • I own an 04 se3p mazda rx8, and it handles like no other, then after i put some tien coilovers, its like you can full throttle a corner with no worries while the rotary thanks you for that.... its just a unique and amazing car, the more you tune it the better it gets, im scared to put full after market tow, sway and dampers on it, if the handling is this good, i cnt imagine after a full susupension tune.... and i driven g37''s, which are overall nice, but rx8 Maaannnn gotta love rotary.

  • i like the mazda better than all of them

  • The hyundai is a wannabe. It just copies, no engineering at all. I mean seriously, copy the g37!!! Hyundai needs to make something of its own. They aren't the best at anything but copying.

  • @homeboyskilletfresh Dude.....you fkin retarded if u dont know about cars then Stfu Genesis coupe designed in california (Styling) Engine 2.0 / 3.8 manufactured in S. Korea. There is no relation with the G37 ok? Get it straight little kid.

  • @lilaznthug510 no relationship??? Buddy u obviously have a pair of eyes. Use them and look at everything that hyundai makes. Genesis looks like a bmw and benz, the sonata before the new one came out looks like a camry and accord. Genesis looks like a g37. NOT DEAD ON, but has those same elements of design. Its a poor mans g37.

  • @homeboyskilletfresh There is no copy of a g37. The g37 looks more luxury and the GC looks more sporty. You sound like your the prince of persia O.O Fully loaded GC is 30k 3.8 Track, Nav, Heated leather seats, Brembo Brakes, Sway bars, Stiffer suspension, and more....A poor mans car? Doesnt matter what u drive u tune the car for ypur taste. You get the car cuhz u want it. So dont be saying its for poor people. Dont try to prove hyundai is bad because for a 30k car fully loaded is a better deal.

  • @lilaznthug510 Ehhh 30k on a hyundai? the resale value is so bad on those. If your looking for a real tuner stick with something else that has a name in performance. Maybe a used evo for 30k. 30k isnt a bad deal for what the hyundai GC has to offer but there isnt any thing BIG about this car. Maybe if hyundai creates more cars that are rwd performance cars, than maybe my perception on them will change. It has to prove itself. Its in the stages off what lexus and infiniti were 15years back.

  • @homeboyskilletfresh i cant argue that the hyundai is better then infiniti or lexus they still got a long way to go. I'm just saying the car isnt bad itself. The GC isnt that slow 5.5 sec 0-60 and with all these options it comes with... its pretty good. All im trying to prove is that its not a bad deal and not a bad car.

  • @lilaznthug510 I totally AGREE with you on that. All that I'm tring to get at is that its nothing to bragg about. The car looks good, good tech-toys, etc. Not a bad deal at all. Its not a mitsubishi or mazda though. I wish it would handle like one. The car is gorgeous and better looking than the 370z( in my opinion). It just has a long way too go. It will soon catch up with the crowd. Hyundai knows the market very well. I see this car with big potentials. Its gonna be big..

  • I was considering buying an RX8 until I saw its mileage... horrendous for such a small engine.

  • im with the bald guy g37 all the way(;

  • Did you film this in the Santa Clarita/Castaic area?

  • so im guessing u guys recomand the rx8 more since its the only car u agree on

  • best car reviewers ever

  • what is the g37 even doing in this comparison? its in a whole different price range, bring in the 370z. and the anti-hyundai, pro infiniti guy is a dumbass who is WAYYY too brand oriented. sports cars are for driving, not luxury. its great that the infiniti can do both but is it worth 13k more? i don't think so.

  • is the steering on the G37 numb?

  • if the rx8 had better fuel economy it would be a more reasonable car

  • lol the ending just shows that choosing a car is a personal decision....personally i would choose the rx8 just because it's unique and i like the styling. i mean seriously a rotary engine is super awesome. i'd probably choose the g37 as a 2nd choice even though i don't care for the luxury quality. i don't like the styling/interior of the genesis coupe, but it's nice to see genesis stepping it up.

  • Like this video. You two guys would be better on american Top gear than the two douches on either side of Adam Ferrara.

  • @zackodom LMFAO adam ferrara is the biggest douche of them all IMO

  • @ktonlai well to each his own lol.

  • I would have the Infiniti. Maybe in a few years!

  • loved the heated debate thats hard to do!

  • Next time you guys are debating/arguing about which car is better, you guys should physically fight! Not a real fight, but just to make it funny and more entertaining! :D

  • The Infiniti G37S coupe win hand down from 0-60, 1/4 and performance as well. Hyundai created the Genesis to compete with the Infiniti G37 Coupe.

  • yeah second place i got my rx8 for $18,900 with 14,000 miles i cant see the g37 being twice the price though

  • Let's say I'm a reasonably well paid young professional looking for a car. I want to save money, so I'm only buying ONE car. It needs to be sporty, good looking, and somewhat practical for me. These cars all fit the bill. But if I had to make a choice between all of them, I'd probably go buy a used G37S. The Hyundai is very tempting as a new car buy, but a 1-2 year old G37 is the same price and is more balanced.

    That's my 2 cents. G37>Genesis>RX-8.

  • The Infiniti would be dead last on my list. I really don't like it. I don't see how everyone gets all googoo eyed over how "beautiful it is."

The side profile is great, but what is up with the rear? The tail-lights look like giant bat eyes and they just sit there, they don't even wrap around so they just kinda stop dead in its tracks.

The front is nice ONLY if you get the sport model. The base and AWD models have these dumbed down bottom grilles from the old G35. It just dones't match.

  • I looked at an infiniti G37S...very nice but too expensive. I've found a loaded (one owner) '06 RX8 RT that is immaculate with 50K miles...I'm buying it tomorrow....end of the month sale.

Oh, and it's gray.....I think it looks classy. And maybe it'll keep the cops off me a little more than a red one. Just so happens that it's at a Hyundai dealership & I looked over the Genesis coupe. I love the style but I agree that the front end kinda kills the looks.

  • I think it looks ugly. It reminds me of a Nissan Altima coupe. Oh wait...

  • if you pause at 5:35 with a side shot of all three cars. the rx8 looks amazing.

  • I own an rx8 and I gotta say if you dong get it, you wont like it.

the thing with the g37 and gensis is that there will always be newer replacement but with the rx8, theres only one.

  • since this is a comparo of 2+2 SPORTS cars, GC obviously would win. RX8 is great but too extreme and unique. G37 is too luxury, and personally I think the G37 looks too plain. Nice review guys.

  • im sorry but that doesn't sound close to a V8

  • genesis coupe 3.8 sounds so badass

  • Infiniti signature clock, nothing wrong with that

  • Fantastic reviews! I really enjoy this channel. My pick of the 3? The Infiniti.

  • @DarthTedd mine too, if i had the money!

  • Love this show. Its more factual than Top Gear but not as boring as Fifth Gear (used to be). And the arguments have actual merit. Top Gear is cool and all but their arguments compose of:

    "I love this car!"

    "You're an idiot, its rubbish."

    "You're an idiot!"

Its funny at first but its horrible for actual car reviews. This show is a nice balance of funny and actual facts and arguments as to why they like the car that they do. Looking forward to more and definitely subscribed.

  • You guys are the American Top Gear. That show is absolutely lame compared to you guys. As with all the other stuff on the web and tv we don't need just a restatement of the factory specs and marketing. Honest from your gut talk that you guys give is awesome. Do I always agree, no but your sincerity and candor is so missing in this world. Arguing shows passion for your belief. Value your opinion and humor more than the car going up and down the road. I can go to the dealer to see the car

  • i pick the genesis

  • Give it T-tops and call it the 370ZX!!!! I want T-tops!!!!

  • should of added a Lexus is350 to the comparison

  • That was a great review of ALL the vehicles. BUt you guy's argument at the end was a bit much. I suggest more cameras for a better take. One for each fella that can open up to view both and then the wide shot with the cars in it. So like 3 cameras for any on screen verbiage.

DAmn though, not sure which one I would pic. The infiniti is SOOO expensive new. I like the genesis but that front end kills me. And the RX8 has and ugly dash/instrument panel along with a heavy thirst for gas. IDK.

  • @EYE50MM - Thanks for your thoughts and glad you liked this comparo. We completely agree with you about multiple cameras to shoot our opening and wrapup pieces. We've done that before, but unfortunately it wasn't possible when we shot this piece.

We've got a lot of cool stuff in the pipeline, so definitely keep watching and commenting. (CTS Coupe, BMW 335is, S5, Cayman S, and Volt are already on our schedule)

  • @EverydayDriver Awesome! You guys should do a Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback Ralliart VS. The new Subaru Impreza WRX. You know, four wheel drive winter kicks. And then maybe a Chevy Volt, Nissan leaf, and Tesla comparo. All different with similarities and all said to be the future.

  • @EYE50MM Ic. i actually thought last part, the argument was funniest and very helpful finale of this video. very very helpful for picky person,me debatin on those. I want to hear what reviewrs really think in their mind. what would they pick if its their car.

  • prev gen g coupe was much nicer looking

  • @AlternativeUses I fully agree, and there was something about those stacked headlights on the old G coupe that was a nice and a different take for a change. It would have been cool looking had they left a stacked headlight design on the current model.

  • @EYE50MM yeah, the new g coupe looks like if the old one melted in a bad way

  • C0nv1ct1337 all I am saying is that typically mustangs have been in the pure muscle category. I guess they ave softened up a bit?

  • @matt37075 ok... so where does the Stang stand in all of this? I mean, usually North American Muscle is a seperate category where Imports don't dare to enter.

  • That RX-8 needs new rims

  • whats next!?!?!?!

  • WOW!!!! So much Infiniti hate? He pointed out the price difference so I don't see what's the big deal. When Hyundai made the Gencoupe they set Infiniti G as there main opponent at Mitsubishi eclipse pricing.

  • Paul hates Mazdas and then ranks its 2nd? Why not 3rd? What a douchebag.

  • 13k more then the hyundai..... how can they even compare these?

  • @bgordon20 u didnt even listen did u?

  • @SammerJammer i did listen and i know they addressed that. im saying the whole comparison doesn't make sense... people who are looking for the g37 arent looking at the other cars... if they have the money for the g then they will be looking in a totally different class.

  • Great video guys. Looking forward to the next one.

  • I agree with Todd, you don't buy a corvette, viper or GT3 to take a luxiourious road trip, those are sports cars like the genesis, meant to be driven for fun. You mix the two togerther and you get something that doesn't know what it is.

  • @KANATADOMPIZ are u kidding? if u combine gruesome killing with martinis and tuxedos, you get James Bond. Combining stuff is awsum! haha

  • Almost forgot about you guys for a second. Takes so song to get more videos. :/

    Nice video btw.

  • Go Infinity !

  • I cant agree with the spoiler. I think it looks great the color it is.

  • Took a long time to get part 3 but was worth it! I bought a Genesis Coupe, the same GT y'all tested but in a manual transmission... That car really comes alive!

  • @adamaoc

    Congratulations on your purchase!

We have another happy Genesis Coupe owner! :)

  • G37 depreciaction is terrible!

  • @blackmist27 which makes it a great used car buy.

  • gotta love the analogies!

  • Jesus look at his pants...

  • Paul, I think the G37 is a great car, but it's just too soft for a car that carries the Skyline DNA. Nissan needs to inject some bad ass in this car and make it more dedicated - stop trying to attract overpaid secretaries. Both the Genesis and the G37 are pretty impractical but only one rewards with smiles (and some extra cash in the bank - which we do need !).

Todd, In my opinion the Genesis Coupe is the spiritual successor of the 240sx, cheap, bad interior, nice exterior and so much fun.

  • @tovarasuu I guess to get badass you would go for a 350 / 370 Z. I have heard that Hyundai is addressing the interior for 2011, replacing much of the hard plastics with soft touch materials.

  • Now wait a sec, Paul. When you review the G37 sedan (which I own,) you said the clock "needs to be rethought," but now you like it. I'm glad to see you're coming around! :) I think the clock is a nice touch, even though it looks a bit bland. The best interior of any car I've ever owned was my '08 Cadillac CTS. If only it could have stayed running long enough for me to enjoy it for more than a month at a time!

  • another episode of Monthly Driver!

  • I love how you guys are bickering!

  • The clock is just tacky and pointless, even in the earlier models. Personally, I prefer the 2007 G35. It's a much better looking car especially when it's modified. The G37 looks like it gained love handles.

  • I heard you can't engine brake with the Genesis. Something about rev hang and emissions or fuel economy or whatnot. Sure it doesn't make your car faster or any better but when I want a drive a manual sports car, I like to have engine braking. Something about having your engine slow down as you're rowing down through the gears with perfect rev matching sounds to a red light is satisfying for me.

  • wow this vid took like 1 month+ to upload.

  • Incredible that Hyundai could pull off a car like this with absolutely no racing history at all. Who really expected Hyundai to come out with a rwd sporty 6speed? I'm flabbergasted

  • @thedayyouth Since the 1980's they have come up to speed probably faster than any other manufacturer... they learn from their mistakes and consistantly raise the bar with their products.

  • The Infiniti's a luxury car - it doesn't matter what Paul thinks, it's not in the same price bracket as the other two yet barely does better than them.

  • Comment removed

  • @c0nv1ct1337 Because he dismisses price - why even compare the other two with this car if he prefers the luxury choice anyhow? It's like doing a Genesis comparo with a another full-sized luxury car and missing the point entirely (of the comparo and of the Genesis' existance).

A G37 just doesn't compete with an RX8 or a Genesis Coupe, it competes with other models in its >>LUXURY<< segment.

  • Comment removed

  • @c0nv1ct1337 Of course it can do all, have you seen how much it costs compared to the other two!

That's why I think his argument is worthless, his 'do it all' doesn't factor in cost, in which case he could replace the G37 with any super car and say he prefers it to 'X compact'. It doesn't make sense.

  • @Vitaminous

Problem is you are only accounting COST with with PERFORMANCE aspect of these cars. You are paying a premium for the G37 because it's better build, has higher quality materials, known for great reliability, and has an engine that comes from a series of best engine awards. This it putting luxury aside. Point is, Paul didn't factor those things in and so nor did he factor in the price

If you are simply looking performance for price, the 2011 Mustang GT obliterates all of these cars.

  • @c0nv1ct1337as an infiniti owner, i have to say the "luxury" part of the brand is all an illusion. At least at the G/Ex/Fx level. the interior looks nice but start rattling before it turns 2 and the leather will crack after about 2 mths of daily use.

Than once that happens and you start to examine your interior piece more closely than your initial test drive. You will realize that infiniti uses fake vinyl in place of real leather whenever possible. Don't get me start on the creaking and rattling

  • @nyfries

I'm also an Infiniti owner. 2008 G35x. Clearly you're doing something wrong or got a faulty car. No creaking or rattling here and if you actually take CARE OF THE LEATHER (seems like a brilliant idea now doesn't?) it will look almost like new. You sure you don't have the pre 2007 G35 models? Those are the ones I can see your complains be valid for.

  • @c0nv1ct1337 13000 dollars of difference makes me dismiss his opinion, like I said.

And the Mustang wasn't part of the comparo.

It's really like they tried to have tri-solution comparo (the Mazda being used, the Hyundai being affordable and the G37 being Luxury) and kinda forgot about why they were doing this in the first place. I just wish Paul would've added an asterisk about price, so to speak, or.. I dunno really, in the end I feel it's all just a missed opportunity.

  • @Vitaminous - We put these cars together because they are 2+2 sports cars, as stated in the opening. There are other 2+2 designs, but most of them straddle other categories (335i coupe & A5 are luxury sports sedans, Mustang Camaro etc are Muscle cars). And... Hyundai used the G37 as a target in making the Genesis, then undercut the price.

We aren't the first people to put the Genesis opposite the G37. The question is always - "Is the Infiniti worth the price difference?". That's up to you.

  • @c0nv1ct1337 The mustang is in a completely different league than these cars as it is seen as a raw pure muscle car. It really is hard to compare brute force with finesse...

  • @ThorMaxx

This isn't the Camaro or Challenger we are talking about. Have you driven a Mustang GT lately? I don't have the numbers in front of me but with the brembo and track package it will outhandle all of these cars. Hell, Motortrend actually compared it to the M3 and the Mustang GT ended up being only .1s slower. M3 isn't known for its power either but its handling. The G37 is also heavier than the Mustang GT so your finesse argument is completely thrown out the window.

  • @c0nv1ct1337@ThorMaxx

both of you are sooo wrong it hurts me to think :( first of all the g37 is just a little heavier than the 370z (which completely outperforms the 2010 gt in EVERY category thats power or "finesse") and the genesis outperforms it as well in just about every category soooooooooooooo idk what to say now but both of you are wrong its sad cuz i usually agree with one side of an argument but both of you are a little undereducated on the topic

  • @matt37075

I don't even want to talk to you. You call us uneducated on this topic yet you have no idea WTF you're talking about.

The G37 is not a little heavier. It's MUCH heavier. It doesn't put as good numbers as 370z.

2011 Mustang GT has over 400HP, runs high 12s (vs 370z mid 13s), and with the brembo and track package, it handles as well as the BMW M3. I'll GLADLY link you Motortrend magazine links for this. Just ask and you will have a few in your inbox next time I log in.

  • @c0nv1ct1337 thats what i was afraid of.... well you read my comment wrong and took it the wrong way im not trying to start anything at all i am a car lover i just love all cars however i have studied nissan for a while and i am VERY aware of the differences and similarities between the g37 and the 370z however in my comment i was comparing them to the 2010 mustang (because i hate the 2011 cuz its so damn good) the 2011 is a completely different animal its SOOO great im glad ford brought back

  • @c0nv1ct1337 5.0 its been since 95 or 96. that and i really wanted it to beat the Camaro i love the fact that america has the muscle rivalry back i just wish dodge would get there stuff together u'know? but we are off topic now just pm me and when you read my comments please dont take offense i love all cars and i just like reaching conclusions
