  • 7:15 JF is as tall as the WTC!

  • It would be good if they have a race In Texas!

  • Comment removed

  • bring F1 to chicago

  • Looks like JF is wrong after all :) Residential makes it more exciting, having balcony parties and watching the race. People been doing this for years in Monaco and even in other series the Gold Coast Indy 300 in Australia.

  • @phantomloita

but not that part in NJ, i guarantee you that track will not be approved by Bernie with all the drab apartment buildings, underwhelming houses and a water treatment plant.. there are better areas on the waterfront, like Jersey City or Hoboken. And Liberty State Park plan was already decided against

  • JF, You were wrong ... THANK GOD!! Can't wait for 2013!

  • Well it's official now! Formula One is in New York. It was about time right?

  • @panagrias

    Well... New Jersey. =)

  • 4:38 is very close to reality

  • roads are fucked up.. but i looking forward to see this, interesting.

  • well JF .. i think we all just got our wish... so hipsters hold on to your little knitted beanies =)

  • Great stuff FLD! Awesome info!

  • CONFIRMATION OF F1 IN WEEKHAWKEN/WEST NEW YORK THIS TUESDAY OCT.25 2:00 PM EST! ON SPEED!

  • 2013 New Jersey set to host F1 Grand Prix! Great Job JF. You've convinced Bernie!

  • Anyone else watching this over and over again? this is my 4th time through it; we need more videos like this

  • In sinapore GP there are alot of buildings, Well of couse us americans will have a problem!

  • Indy , get them to do a track on the streets, common JF, make it happen.

Get the Indy cars to attend, and find a American company to drop V-8s in them, JF< DOOOO ITTTT

  • Dull, would have been much better with Clarkson presenting.

  • @potts27 haha, oh well, Hey you should pick up clarksons book, or james may, not sure if the other guy has one, I only have james mays,

    long story eh, lol

  • JF seems ill in this video.

  • Great job JF! you have progressed impressively as a presenter. Well done,

  • Very nice video in every aspect with attitude, character and "soul".

  • whf he wana say?

  • "scare all the homeless people out of the woods." lol

  • were you really driving an automatic? or was i seeing things. boooo automatic lol

  • Good idea... But I just dont think it would work. NYC is just to crowded. And if there was a F1 race there, there would be lots of tourists, and take up to much space. But idk, maybe.

  • This episode was fucking awesome !

  • nyc has so much more than 8 mil ppl ... queens and bk have over 5 mil each... nyc and manhattan are not the same. im being a douche, i know.

  • killer episode... great comments from JF, great views, great sites, great car... good times.

  • Great job JF, really interesting piece. Nice to see more of New York than the usual Manhattan streets. More middle of the night vids!!

  • This... right here... is what we want to see more of... exciting back-stories, amazing (or you could even use regular) cars... in places that we now need to drive through ourselves... thankfully, being in Manhattan most of the time during vacations it will be fun to do the courses in my 9-3

  • The music and the vid is absolutely amazing. Like fastmichaelis and format67.net but narrated.

  • is he really stoned??

  • @Shinigami920 are you? he made sense n even when i'm blasted my functions aren't impaired

  • @ITsIMP0RT4NT after 2 grams of high grade my brain does not function

  • @Shinigami920 sucks for you cause its not meth

  • @ITsIMP0RT4NT If it was meth then it would suck for me for the next 2 weeks on the come down

  • @Shinigami920 lol touche

  • @Shinigami920 Where did that come from? Why do you say that?

Does he look stoned? Does he sound stoned?

  • @eeeen321 it came from my head

  • @Shinigami920 From your head?? What an amazing thought process then.

You failed to answer any of the question(s)...

  • @eeeen321 You don't always get your answers, sometimes you have to look for them...

  • @Shinigami920 there is no answer I am actually looking for, it was a rhetorical question, I knew the answer from the start... the point was: You have no idea what you are trying to talk about. Plain and Simple.

  • great production

  • I like the idea. The only thing they have to do is get rid of the potholes and manhole covers!!

  • Props to JF. Good episode! Needs to work on adjectives though. Loving FLD more and MORE! Thank you!

  • Props to JF.

  • Gran Turismo is as close a we can get for now.... We should call Sony and PD

  • JF, for all the shit Derek D gives you, you are a great speaker.

You are a very charismatic ammouncer when you do things like these; they are legitimately enjoyable to watch. You're WAY better than any of the Top Gear America hosts hahahaha.

JF, Derek D, and Leo for TG America hosts!!

  • omg great episode. that was a great video with quality and passion in every second. loved it!!! i think it was better than some top gear segments.

  • Good Work (video) JF !!! I love a F1 race track in NYC !

  • Bravo, now do that around Austin.

  • Awesome...simply awesome. Oh, and am I the only one that is reminded a little bit of Surfers Paradise, Australia when I see the Weehawken layout? Come to think about it, I've got a buddy from there...

  • this is wut the road testament should be. not 2 dudes stroking audi's ego on a couch

  • JF, what a fantastic episode. Truly artful. I felt sucked in like I was watching an episode of Top Gear.

  • This remind me of the episode of friends where Joey pretends he owns a Porsche :)

  • i know i dont comment that often, and im not involved that much anymore with the FLD team, but i just wanted to say, that was probably the best and most informative FLD special ep. ever! well done JF. that episode needs an encore presentation !.... hahahaaa. FLD FTW biatches.

  • If there was ever to be a New York City race it wouldn't be a night race. F1's key market is Europe and a night race in New York would mean the Europeans having to watch the race in the early hours of Monday morning.

  • you guys needed a hood cam, not all of us are familiar are new york

  • absolutely loved it JF, I felt the passion and I wan't to see F1 at the big apple too. UK

  • Macau grand prix is noisy as hell, uses most of the major roads, passing through schools and residential. But we love it!

  • JF man you brought it home bro. Good shit.

  • New york City is a Shithole it won"t happen Because People will bitch about

    The Noise

  • @ChemWorks93 Right, I commented before the video was over. I'm afraid it's a bad habit of mine.

My point still stands, but I suppose if nobody is willing to fund a race there, it really doesn't matter how ideal a location is.

  • America doesn't need F1. We have plenty of oher series for race fans. That we won't have to pay a 40 million bribe for. Send the boring F1 back to Europe where it came from.

  • @Howie47 ...>.> I don't wanna watch Nascar...I'm pretty sure most racing fans want variety, and the best way to do that is to have more types of racing. Don't be so closed minded.

  • @trombonekingdom You must not be from America, if you think Nascar is all their is. There is, the American Lemans, Just raced in Boston. The Cart series, which is basically the same as F1, and the Rolex series (sports cars and prototypes). So why do we need to spend 40 mil. to host F1? Not a single good reason.

  • @Howie47 I am from America ( I just used nascar as an example...probably should've expanded on that) American Le Mans is fine, Cart series is nowhere near as exciting as F1. Rolex is good, but I meant more variety TV wise, not just bringing F1 over. I want DTM, FIA GT, Super GT, International Le Mans, BTCC, Australian V8's. Variety man. If Britain, Germany etc. can have F1 why can't we? They obviously saw good reasons to do so. Plus revenue generated would more than likely surpass 40 mil.

  • @trombonekingdom The revenue generated goes both ways. F1 will make a load in the American market. They don't need a bribe to come hear. A bribe that would ultimately come from the American tax payer. It is happening right now in Texas. As Texas tax payers are being asked to foot the bill for a new F1 race track. That only a very few people are interested in. So why do you find F1 exciting and not the Indy series???????

  • @Howie47 Well since I'm from Texas I say hah. :V It's not as if tax money doesn't go to other projects that are useless anyway. I'm pretty sure that there are other courses in the states that were made using tax money. Plus I never said Indy wasn't exciting. I said I wanted more variety, F1 and Indy are very different even though they are both open wheel.

  • @trombonekingdom Such superb logic you employ. "since we throw away billions on waste, why not continue?" Indy cars have about the same horsepower, and same every thing else. Only difference. Indy races both oval and road circuits. Which is a bigger challenge! F1 is being used as a political ploy, to promote globalization. An idea who's time has not come. Two men who don't agree on their destination. Can't row the same boat. Putting a dictator as captain, results in William Bligh & mutiny.

  • @Howie47 There are so many things that could be done to our economy to make this work, but I won't go into detail in that. The only difference is oval and road? That is one of the most ignorant things I've ever heard. An Indy car is nowhere near the technical level of an F1 car. Look up the technology involved in both, compare, and then come back and say that again.

  • @trombonekingdom If advanced technology is what turns your racing key. Then why not watch jet aircraft race?

Those race series race a bunch of cloned cars. Both Cart and F1. Have so many regulations, that the cars all end up with the same technology. If your really interested in the cars. Then you should be following racing that pits street cars against one another. Indy and F1 are all about the drivers, not the cars, which are pretty equal.

  • @Howie47 My point wasn't that we should watch F1 because it's more technologically advanced, I was correcting you on your false assumption that they are almost completely similar.

  • @Howie47 People do watch jet aircraft race. Google Reno Jet Racing.

  • An F1 track full of straights in a downtown area with tall buildings to assist the barriers to bring out the sound?!?!?! I THINK SO!!! :D

  • This is how video automotive journalism should be done. Forward this to Motortrend and Edmonds please.

  • This was the best EPISODE ever Ever EVER!!!! Do more like this. Screw F1 racing. Support an American series racing circuit. 40 million is too much to give to F1. Make F1 pay for the permits, road improvements, employees, logistics...

  • the last few seconds -before the add- made me look like i was watching a car in the gt5 menu's...

  • Good show, JF. Could be a segment in a real TV show. You guys at FLD keep it up.

  • @DocWolph

I honestly think he is a better host than Matt Farah

  • @whatdumd I was the Producer of Garage419...

  • @FastLaneDaily

    i knew that!

I been with you guys since the VOD Cars days!

  • ALMS in NY would be easier to pull off and would only bolster the brand. Grand Am and Trans Am is still a no go because of weak organization and no money. However an annual race in NYC would make either or both series. But real auto racing IN NYC? I'm game.

  • Awesome! More of theseplese

  • Great episode!

  • Brilliant episode Musicals, more of these please. Better than Top Gear.

  • FUCK ECCLESTONE AND HIS FILTHY MONEY.

    Great episode, btw.

  • Love this episode. Beautifully filmed.

    JF, you are impressing me.

  • JF should make more of these commerc.. I mean, cool episodes.

  • If they can do racing in Baltimore, they can do it in NYC.

  • Am I the only one who thinks JF had a few drinks before riding out ?

  • What a great episode this was FLD. First New York City needs to fix their roads before any race track should be built. Wayyyyyyy to many potholes ):O

WRX Owner (Putting out big numbers)

  • Considering I don't always see eye-to-eye with you JF, this could not have been a better review, and it is also my favorite Porsche in the current line-up. Having said that, do people really watch F1 still?

  • F1 doesn't want to race in the ghetto. It would have to be downtown around Times Square. Ala, the Forza 3 NY track

  • @chrisdraper2007 Have you ever been to NYC?

  • best episode Ive ever seen

  • What a well done video! I really enjoyed this format of Fast Lane video!!

  • my personal opinion is to make a F1 race in a field somewhere in sussex county behind route 15 many twisty roads that are perfect for a grand prix

  • Hold on, do Americans even know what formula 1 is?

  • JF you really messed up by not including Central Park as its own closed circuit. The sweeping curves, elevation changes and amazing scenery of the East and West drive would make for an amazing race........Not to mention they close these drives to traffic everyday, so you wouldn't be interfering with anyones commute.

  • Yo JF this shit was tite man...loved the episode..major kudos

  • Thanks FLD. Very good JF!

  • Watkins Glen is much farther away from NYC than 2hrs.. I live right south of Watkins.. BTW the GLEN should be on the F1 calendar, it's an amazing place.

  • @ChemWorks93 yet so is the New York City grand Prix or whatever they're calling it... I think the US Grand Prix should be Watkins Glen, or Road America... America has alot of great tracks already

  • did he actually compare new york gran pri to monaco!

thats no way possible in comparison !

  • HELLO FLD!!!

  • This video... genius.

  • I'd be happy if America got a Formula One circuit at all, but why New York?

Wouldn't somewhere in southern California make more sense? There are more people, it's a bigger tourist destination, and it's long been the epicenter of our car culture.

Long Beach would probably be a good bet, it's hosted F1 in the past. Between that and the current Long Beach Grand Prix, the city has plenty of experience setting up their streets for this type of event.

  • Great episode, keep these coming.

  • Comment removed

  • More of this please!

  • JF!!! this shit was so cash, great job FLD. Bring on the NY GP

  • btw go to the 30 sec mark on my edited version of the Shell Ferrari F1 commercial on my channel. That is how awesome a New York race would be.

  • Half expected clapping at the end because it felt like a Top Gear segment.

  • this kind of thing every week would be so much better than the road testament

  • Only reason why the Cayman R's power wasn't increased more was so it didn't cross over into the Carrera's power band. It's just product differentiation.

  • sweet video JF editing and music is AMAZING

  • Epic episode.

  • Park to Tillary in pgr 3 and 4 would make a great track! like if you agree.

  • Great vid, amazing Porsche and nice NY skylines!

  • great video ! very jampacked, informative and imaginative... oh how I wish to see an american version of Monza or Singapore circuit :(

  • The filming was nice.... but as a non-american viewer and already having a GP where I live (Melbourne, Australia) this sort of didn't hit it for me.

  • that was really good video! May I ask what camera you shot with? Worked so well in low light

  • 0:12 Sleeping?

  • It's a tough job JF but someone had to do it.

  • That's the JF we love. Well written, nicely shot and you could see the passion JF has for driving and for motorsport. Excellent edition.

  • JF FTW!!! You guys should do these types of episodes more often. That was an awesome episode!

  • WELP..... ha

  • Really nice job J.F!

  • great vid, FLD, you got this spot on, the music, the scenery, comes together perfectly!

  • Comment removed

  • that was awesome...

  • Shut down New York City for a week to have a car race... right.

  • Comment removed

  • you guys should keep doing more of these Car review & interesting idea Video's, this was fantastic :)

  • I can't believe anybody disliked this. It was a great addition to the FLD channel. Keep it up.

  • Great episode! One of your best. Really enjoyed the topic of F1 in the NYC. Lighting, , backdrops, commentary and plot were terrific. If I had to be super critical, a little more engine and exhaust noise with such a great Cayman R. I understand there was lots of interesting talking, but I'm sure a few times you could have had it zip away without going bananas on the speeds inside the city.

  • Awesome episode!

  • THAT WAS AMAZING!!!!

  • SWEET episode

  • Really great episode. Filming was excellent and the backdrops were excellent. Im a die hard F1 fan but being in the US its not easy to see a race and Austin Texas is a little far from my home in western NY. NYC however is but 6 hours away, easily a great weekend trip. I hope someone makes it happen.

  • What a pleasant surprise, this video had a great feel to it. You addressed some hype but with an intelligent feel that allowed it tickle our imaginations rather than blow smoke, all while weaving in beautiful shots of the city and providing information about an awesome car, well played, Top Gear USA should take some notes

  • A bit to few turns on the "possible" NY. track - you need something like Toronto's Honda Indy track, very similar to Monaco. The Weehawkn track in New Jersey looks alot better asides from its actually getto location and hobos

  • Austin TEXAS BABY!!! F New York, great show though !!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • good music choices... awesome!

  • not sure if its the camera angle but the last track u showed seemed to have a realy tight line, as in only one car fits at a time

  • JF! breaking into full stride with what could be a great show concept. whatever you guys can do in this format moving forward... make it happen.

  • that was good fun to watch not just the F1 concept ciruits, but even the comments on the car put together with the music great to watch.

  • How are there 466 likes and 18 dislikes when there are 302 views...?

  • Nice spin in the Cayman R. If you need more Cayman information please visit the home of the Cayman Club - planet-9.com

FWIW you really should take the car to the track while on loan from PCNA :)

  • Indy Car ALMOST had concrete plans in the early 90's for a race in Lower Manhattan, using the Wall street area and the West side highway. I'm pretty sure it all didn't happen because of a conflict with cigarette advertising.

  • I've always dreamed of seeing New York being used as a racetrack. It shouldn't be Formula 1 only though. Maybe WRC too perhaps :)

And more Formula 1 tracks should be like in Monaco. Full of beautiful scenery.

Another thing I wanna see being turned into a racetrack would be Tokyo, Japan. Gran Turismo came to mind.

  • this is just plain stupid. the road in new york are too bumpy. F1 cars cant achieve good performance at those condition. An alternative is to have a race trak inside new york but for RALLY cars. Singapore is one. and Australian and monaco are different cause those tracks are paved to be level. unlike the worn down streets of new york. im not hater but im just tating some facts for this

  • @PCDoctorPH . The roads would be repaved for the race if it happened in NYC.

  • Amazing job FLD! This is even better than top gear america.

  • So different from the usual wise crack show. More videos like this should be made. Well done FLD.

  • You guys should send this to Bernie Ecclestone lol

  • one step nearer to become a great carshow. loved the video awesome job JF

  • I'm guessing by the Georgia Distributor license plate, that PCNA lent you the Cayman R. Nice to see FLD getting recognition.

  • Make more videos like this JF! :D

  • I want to see more video's like this !! Great job JF !!!

  • Very Top Gear-y. I love it!

  • great job JF

  • MORE EPISODES LIKE THIS!!!!!

  • like weehawken track , that should be the ONE!

TAKE UP BARRICADES TO MAKE IT HAPPEN

A LITTLE PRESSURE FROM THE RACERS OR DRIVER ENTHUSIASTS

    AND THERE YOU GO

    IT SHOULD MAKE THE TRICK

  • wow... you guys outdid yourself with this one here! good job! I like the new style of video
