This is easy......I need a video or a genius to show me how to install windows using vmware onto a physical disk (partition) my dilemma is that my interior disc drive is damaged and installing windows via cd is impossible as apple doesnt allow 3rd party external drives to boot windows but it allows you to boot mac osx....and this pisses me off....i tried all those things online such as thumb drive, the vmware thing and i even went out and purchased the macbook air cd drive which doesnt work
Awesome! This has helped me install a Windows VM on my MacBook Air (I own a Windows CD, but the Air has no drive, so the easy thing for me was make the image and copy that over the internet to the Air).
@shaneymane15 Dude, you can find torrents all over the internet for an ISO file of any operating system, just look around this is for instructional purposes only, so just stop your whining, and you should just get off of the internet if you want to be like that :) (Thumbs this up if you agree with me)
i tried installin my win 7 from a virtual drive and it worked fine once....now its tellin me i need to uninstall my antivirus and make space on the hd cuz it aint enuff room to install.....
If you're seeing the warning about your antivirus that I suspect, it's not that you have to uninstall it but that you should set it not to scan your Virtual Machines directory. You can read more about this in two places:
- The Fusion 3.0 Release Notes (scroll down to "Installation Notes"): vmware.com/support/fusion3/doc/releasenotes_fusion.html
- Our Knowledge Base article: kb.vmware.com/kb/1014531
It sounds like your DVD isn't truly blank, or that it's not a format supported by your drive. Apple can give you better, more specific information but this article might help: docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/11449.html
You can use the virtual machine just like you'd use a physical Windows computer, including installing applications, playing games, etc.

@AQA5G4RD1AN What... no. Using my Mac was a back up plan, getting a PS3 was the ideal situation.

As for making more room on your hard drive, do you mean within Windows or on the Mac's hard drive?
if you need to expand your Windows vvirtual machine' drive, have a look at this article: vmware.com/kb/1020778
If you think your virtual machine is taking up too much space on your Mac's drive, have a look at this article: vmware.com/kb/1025628
