  • Am I the only one that litteraly melted at 1:38?

  • I don't love Norm Lewis' voice (clearly, he's a great singer, but he's just not my cup of tea), but I DO love his acting. He's so precise and unyielding. I genuinely feel sorry for him because I completely believe the obsession.

  • Some of these people have very talented voices

  • The Bishop is excellent! Beautiful voice

  • @flicfan416 - I know! I was surprised he didn't get a bigger part, although he does have a rather gentle voice!

  • My dad was friends in High School with the guy who plays Javert (Norm Lewis)

  • Alfie Boe is an amazing addition to the many talented men who have played Jean Valjean through the years.

  • YAY EARL!!! Why must the Bishop be attractive... I feel wrong...

  • "yes it means im free :)" javert *funny face* "NO!"

  • @Evapsie best part XD

  • @ritsfata agreed! he is amazing!

  • Nick Jonas received a role in the 25th Anniversary because he was Gavroche in the 10th Anniversary of Les Miserables, and his dad made friends with the producers.

  • This Javert is without doubt the best I've come across.

  • WHAT it took me a bit too long to realise Javert is King Triton from The Little Mermaid on broadway! I had a beard and a wig in TLM, i guess that was why.

  • Love it wish i did go *sigh*

  • It's Good.. But it Doesn't Feel the Same

  • This Javert is my favorite Javert <3

  • I just love this version.

  • I love you, Earl. <3

  • The Bishop is currently the Phantom in London, everyone in this show is amazing!!

  • God, I love this bishop. So, so much.

  • een musical om nooit meer te vergeten, de prachtigste van allemaal, het verhaal speelt zich nog elke dag af ergens ter wereld.

  • @pipparetta Idd , onlangs gaan bekijken op West End .... nooit te vergeten

  • Alfie boe or colm Wilkinson

  • @connormbeii Only Alfie. :)

  • Alfie Boe is the best Valjean EVER!!!!!! there are no words to describe how much I admire this guy. My new favorite performer! :D

  • I love how people are complaining about Nick Jonas playing Marius. In the end he was still in Les Miserables 25th anniversary....singing, acting, etc. So no matter how many times you guys may bitch it won't do anything because this is the past. Lol. Nick Jonas played Marius and that's it.

  • @actress4life116 And he did a good job... I think.. They just hate him cause they knew him before from Disney XD

  • @Animeking615 really? I've done Les Mis and I can tell you that you HAVE to over-articulate otherwise no one will understand you! It sounds funny but it's better than people slurring through things. Every production I've ever done over the last eight years I've had to over-articulate and make the words much clearer so people will understand what I'm saying. It's one of the first things you're taught when you're doing acting and classical singing.

  • The priest/bishop has a very, very good voice...

  • That awkward moment when you're Norm Lewis and you've never been Tony-nominated...

  • I was the 100th to like. =D

  • Norm Lewis is the best Javert EVER!!!!!!

  • @IzzyBeeBusyBee12 I think Quast is the best...Lewis is next...=)

  • Well, Nick Jonas really wasn't that horrible, but everybody else was so good that they made him look pathetic.

  • i take it back, the only guy that isn't over-articulating is the guy playing Jean Valjean

  • @AnimeKing615 Might I just say.. I have been taking theatre for many, many years. And you are supposed to over-articulate. You are supposed to LET people understand what you are saying. Loud and clear. ;D

    ~Me

  • The guy that played Javert was terrible! He's OVER-articulating! It's making him late for when he's actually supposed to be starting the verse! Besides, I was hoping for one of the other guys my friend is always talking about since he's the best Javert ever! I can't belive I was going to waste my money on this! I was really expecting them to actually be performing this! I'm disappointed....

  • @AnimeKing615 I actually know Mr. Norm Lewis. He is one of my good friends :D

  • @AnimeKing615 This is a concert, not the full show so everything is directly out to the cameras. Boy, if 9:05-12:11 isn't performing....

Sorry, but think you've missed the point on Javert. He's a stickler for the law: every dash, comma and period. That precise enunciation is part of the character Norm Lewis has chosen to portray. To show how obsessed and rigid Javert is. He can never bend -- and that's why he breaks in the end.

  • @AnimeKing615 Haha, your opinion. Norm Lewis was a f-cking boss. Best Javert ever.

  • @actress4life116 AGREED.

  • i keep seeing comments about nick jonas, i dont even see him!

  • @jeffyjeffyjeffy it is a concert not an actual performance, so that is why they are stationary

  • Does anyone know where they performed this?

  • You'd think that they could aford some headset mikes so the could have better blocking and movement the fact that they can't move much makes it much less convincing

  • This whole time I thought Colm and JOJ were my favorite Valjeans...but now Alfie is....he adds so much more depth and emotion to the character, particularly the bitter prisoner aspect shown here at the beginning....GO ALFIE!

  • I personally prefer Philip Quast as Javert than Norm Lewis...

  • @DemonHunterDante316 Philip Quast has ruined me for Javert. I've seen this 3 times live and nobody seems to meet his brilliance. This Mr. Lewis is good but Philip IS and always will be Javert for me!!! His acting, singing, intonation, all just totally amazing. If anyone is watching this and hasn't watched the 10th Anniv. concert, please do yourself the favor of watching the Philip Quast scenes as Javert. You won't regret it! ;)

  • @CocoOPNY

    Agreed

  • why do they have the microphones like that?

  • can i have lyrcis for all the songs please :D!!!

  • What I love about this scene is that the piece comes back, later on, you hear Javert sing the same piece, slightly different of course. That is part of the reason why Les Mis...is so loved...it's the story, the characters, the music...kudos Alfie Boe for this one...

  • uh, the character is Marius....Nick is simply wonderful...he is the Marius I wanted to hear despite what many may think....I can see Nick in the next tenor role..looking forward to it..

  • This isn't good study music... I can't help paying attention to the music :'(

  • I love how javert walks in rythm with music :D

  • good job ! =)

  • SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!

  • @danialeonardo and @mandyc203 not to be rude. but if you are going to post a comment about a certain character, get the name right. Its Marius not Marcus.

  • @mundotoon6 Oops. You're right. Sorry about that.

  • @mandyc203 no problem

  • 7:07 omg, that was amazing!!

  • Alfie Boe is amazing ! Best valjean ever

  • @philipattomic I personally perfer colm wilkinson.

  • danialeleonardo ..Marius is a student, collage age which we are told in the book and the play.

  • its marius?

  • I think that Nick Jonas was partially cast to bring a different audience to Les Mis. And judging by some of the comments I've read on different videos from the 25th Anniversary Concert, it worked. Jonas fan girls are now in love with Les Mis. And isn't that a good thing?

  • @alphasia91 Although I agree with you about the reasons for hiring Jonas, I don't necessarily think it's a good thing, the fangirls should be fans of Les Mis because of the quality of the play and the music, not because some pop guy was in the Concert in one of the major roles. I have nothing against the guy in his genre, but I don't think he deserved this part. I wanted a more powerful voice to sing his part, his voice got lost in the final peace. I give him much props for trying though!!

  • @NatiGhan I agree with you to a point. There were others who would have done better. I just think that bringing in a pop star opened a who new world to some Jonas fans. Sort of like what they're trying to do to the movie (which I have very mixed feelings about).

  • @alphasia91 Usually I'd agree, but the idea that they think Nick is the perfect Marius makes me shudder.

  • @LittleMollyWarbler Hahaha now that is the truth! He is definitely the most unsuitable Marius I've ever heard, and now that the Jonas fans are liking Les Mis, they should so some more research and find the really good ones!

  • @alphasia91 Nick was also in the West End production

  • @alphasia91 Yea, but for the wrong reasons. Sure, some might fall in love with the show but most will probably skip through to his scenes and forget the rest of the show.

  • @ritsfata Yes, but the few who fall in love with the show matter. Plenty of people just skip through the show to the songs they like regardless of who's singing them (my family), but if Nick got even one person to fall in love with Les Mis, that's a good thing.

I'm not saying I agree with the casting (there are plenty of actors I would have preferred), I just said that what they wanted him to do worked, and it's a good thing, because if it hadn't worked he would have been even more pointless.

  • Who cares about Nick Jonas? There's not enough electric piano with the constables!

  • Nick isnt in this scene but i have to say he did AMAZING

  • I have a question, why can't people stop talking about Nick Jonas? As I recall he isn't even in this part of the concert, Alfie Boe is! I think he's a miscast but I don't want to read an endless debate about him every time I watch a clip from the 25th Anniversary. And Nick Jonas fans, please live with the fact that there are people who don't like him.

  • Alfie Boe wins at life.

  • i am not a fan of the electric guitar in this.......

  • Who's Marcus? Better question, why is everyone talking about freakin' Nick Jonas so much?

  • @AaylaSecura757

Nick jonas plays marius pontmercy in the musical!! ♥

  • Why can't they sell this version on iTunes?

  • So amazing wanted to see for years.

  • ok, im not a big fan of the jonas brothers but Nick Jonas played his role greatly. In the book Marcus was 17 and finding who he was. It is true that others in the past might have done a greater job but they were fully grown man and women that honestly did not fit the role because they were too old. This is not 1995 people, live with it.

  • @danialeonardo

But Nick Jonas was completely out of his league vocally. He did his best and it wasn't the worst thing I've ever heard, but this 25th Anniversary concert was a big deal. There are lots of insanely talented guys who could have done the music justice AND been young enough to give Marcus that vulnerability.

  • @mandyc203 If you look at Nick Jonas background, you will see he played Gavroche.

  • @SweetChuck008 Actually, Nick Jonas played Marius. The little rich boy from Hannah Montana played Gavroche

  • @jamesjimmothy He wasn't from Hannah Montana, the boy in that TV show was Moises Arias. The boy who played Gavroche was Robert Madge.

  • @SuperGamerfly Hm my bad. Saw a resemblance

  • @mandyc203 i guess its true, but they chose him for a reason. i know he wasn't the best (i agree with you), but i guess they chose him because it was a shot for him to restart his broadway career.

  • @mandyc203 He went through the same audition process as everyone else and was obviously the best that auditioned. And he did a very good job

  • @mandyc203 I agree. I was surprised at how well he did, but his voice was still too young for the rest of the cast. Kudos to him for doing so well, and he will probably have a wonderful voice when he matures more.

  • @mandyc203 its marius you fuck, nick jonas did a great job.

  • @AustinNate69 yes. but he's the wrong person for the part

  • @urbannibja123 no hes not, hes perfect for it

  • @mandyc203 His name is Monsieur Marius Pontmercy

  • @mandyc203 (The character that Jonas failed so epically is Marius). Lololol

  • Comment removed

  • @danialeonardo He did not play his role greatly. He had a huge role and though he's a fairly competent pop singer, was completely out of his depth in this production. Jonas on stage with someone like Alfie Boe makes a mockery of the proceedings. Michael Ball fit the part just fine, he is the definitive Marius. The fact that you call that into question is a mystery. You don't need to be literally 17 years old to play Marius for fuck's sake. Marius' age is never mentioned in the play.

  • @Powderwombat lol No, you don't have to be 17 to play Marius, but you do have to be a size for the current Valjean to pick you up and carry you through the sewers.

I love Michael, he's he iconic Marius. And under that cute little frock coat, Alfie Boe is built like a tank. But Michael has 2" and 40 lbs on Alfie. Take Michael in a fight, probably. Carry him in his arms on and off stage, no way.

  • Nothing Beats the Classics. People who says otherwise are degenerates

  • @VSV535618 I don't say they're degenerates. I personally think that they are misguided

  • Amazing Voices! Great Job!

  • Nick Jonas does not deserve a part in this amazing cast.

  • OMG Alfie Boe is FABULOUS!!! Out of all the ppl on the cast he's the best! Nick's 2nd best :P :)

  • Earl Carpenter...what a voice! He's the Delish Bish ;)
