@MrSubsemnatu - As someone who has re-read the Sherlock Holmes stories many times over many years, I can state for a fact that Holmes is probably the most clearly drawn character in all fiction. NO - not anyone can play Sherlock Holmes, and certainly not Downey. Subjective impressions granted, the archetype is absolutely clear. Downey does not meet any of the criteria.

How many movies has been done so far about S.H. ?Alot. Maybe this one is a revolution of the idea about Sherlock Holmes. If you would stop criticizing this film like a BITCH you are :) maybe you would be amused and even impressed by R.D.Jr. :) but anyway the movie remains the same so, doesn't matter :)

Watching the ceremony thinking of where the winners were once career wise respectively it's quite surreal. 10 years ago who would've thought that RDJ would be on an award stage accepting a prize for a box office hit he headlined or Sandra Bullock and Meryl Streep as the top two actressess, box office wise, in the business or James Cameron winning again for a movie that may unseat his previous one.
