Snowylumber: Great comment about the bleach, but hard on tools. I just put a cup down the well just before I sealed it up. I got my info from a well installer. He said they didn't use electrical tape anymore because of the problem i had, comes loose, gets stuck in the pump. I just used they rope because it was already there and in all four installs I've helped others with. The ropes I've had (polypropylene) have never broken, they deteriorate in the sun, but seem fine in water.
Don't wrap anything around the rope if it breaks you could be in trouble. You don't need a rope tied to the pump you already have 2 other things hooked to it the wire and pipe. Just put the ele. wire next to the pipe and wrap tape around it or 7-8 times throw those zip ties away. Do away with the rope it can rot and fall into well and act like a wedge then you will need to call a professional. Wipe everything down with chlorine (tools, wenches, pipe, pump etc) Great Job
I think there's a bit of electrolyis of the brass fitting going on there or else erosion due to cavitation of the pump [ a 'expansion vessel' fitted to a tee some where on your system might help the pump if not already fitted..]...... maybe a stainless fitting may be required to sort out your problem...McMaster Carr .com website is a great source for all that stuff ...
The bleach sanitizes the well.
