  • my older brother was dumpster diving and found a Picture autographed by Watch Tower, a Fates Warning Vinyl, a picture autographed by John Arch of fates warning, and one that isn't and a Dream Theater poster

  • Best tech-thrash album along with Think This.

  • check out "SPIRAL ARCHITECT", they're like Watchtower on steroids. Gotta be the most technical band with vocals, bar none!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Voitcu the best is to get back at sabbath bloody sabbath music as the name of this band suggest it ... the seeds are essential for the survivin' of rock n roll

  • Got the album when it first came out, was awesome then and is still awesome now.

  • singer blows

  • Awesome. But please, kill the singer.

  • @UnSlaverDrum what the hell..the singer is awesome !! :)

  • @kedonsiemen - He's just a jealous fag, Alan Tecchio is awesome!

  • love the string break at 2:10.

  • This F N SUCKS BALLs. Who listens to this crap? FAIL!!!

  • @lorddemented TROLL ALERT

  • I used to love this song. First saw/heard it on Rage, the Australian music show late at night in the early 90's or so. Thanks for posting this, it takes me right back.

  • Is this the Band that is Heavily influenced by RUSH?

Not that many bands aren't ,but i heard it was the whole reason they started playing?

Or is it a different band with a similar name?

  • @chiefmegadeth Same one. Drummer even used hybrid acoustic/electronic kit!

  • scissors metal !

  • These guys invented the TECH METAL

  • I believe that these guys invented progressive metal. Correct me if I'm wrong.

  • Pure fucking metal, this is like a combination of Coroner and Fates Warning, pure technical, I love the voices, Ron is God! Very underrated band and cult album.

  • If an alien comes from another solar system, then as a gift or a token of love n friendship I will present(gift) the alien songs of these highly technical bands like Watchtower, Athiest, Death.

  • @puraajhayaap Don't forget the wonderful Sadist, though.

  • @sendanor Sadisttttttttttttttttttttttttt, its been so long since I saw that word. Whats happening with sadist nowadays? Any clues ?

  • @puraajhayaap Welll...it´s thanks to the wonderful YT that I discovered some recent work by them: check their song "One thousand memories" - and from what I googled: they appear to be active again since 2005.

  • @sendanor Thats goood man.... thankyou for the info's . Will check them out, guys are getting so old, I mean everyone, feels bad, but when I watch myself in the mirror, thats the time when I realise that there is a thing called time, but it will never change somethings in life, and that is music, heavy metal music. . .

    hahaaa..

I hope you have a good week .

    Cheers.

  • @puraajhayaap Ow, the eternal battle against time which we are always losing.....or going with the flow and acknowledging your age, which gives greater pleasure....as far as music is concerned, with my 42 years I still LOVE metal (although it has transgressed a little towards prog metal) but Watchtower and Sadist can still ring my bells .....have a nice week too!

  • @puraajhayaap alien music actually sounds like wind blowing through the treetops

  • Comment removed

  • awesome. the singer sounds just like ray alder

  • Masterpiece prog metal album!!!!!!

  • One of my favourite Band of all time

  • it really breaks my heart to think all these bands have had almost very little recognition all these years which is bullshit since they deserve a million times more respect than they had

  • The five people who disliked this video are pathetic shriveled husks with no taste in music, hail Watchtower!

  • it's impossible to play this song O.O

  • incredible song!!!

  • 24 copied the format of this video...

  • it's amazing how many great riffs/leads there are in 3 mins and 18 seconds. Truly a unique style of composition. Amazing vocals too!

  • what is the Creators name?

  • i remember being high on ecstacy and i was dying to listen to this

  • I AM JESUS!

  • @AlexXenoulis yeahhhhhhh ! and add this, Vital Remains: Deschristianize !!

  • Everybody please bow to the high priests of prog metal,WATCHTOWER!!!

They only bought out two albums.I think the media were a bit shy towards there music being really really OTT musicians. These guys were the metal

musicians musicians. The guitar player is featured somewhere here on you

YouTube doing some demonstration.I think thrash started becoming

really technical towards the 1990's.Forbidden,Coroner,etc.Thrash itself

very technical most of the time.

  • I covered this song :p great song

  • man i love this guy´s vocals

  • Texas Metal

  • Jarzombeck is the mastermind of this.

I am not able to find words for that record

what is not from this earth.

It is the beginning of all progstuff.

On the Cd Ink Compatible you can hear the

voice again. The clib shows Alan Tecchio from Hades. The voice concernig the record

has nothing to do with him.I am a painter with early influences of this Record.Thanx

  • Τι πίρλι-πίρλι είναι αυτό Θεέ μου!

  • i think my mind just exploded from this amazing song

  • Just a heads up: BRAND NEW WatchTower song 'The Size of Matter' is now streaming on their MySpace and available on Amazon. Killer stuff!

  • Watchtower testigos de jehova??? muaaaaaaaaa

    gooood!!!!!1

  • I can listen it constantly. I already did it 3 or 4 times )

  • The face of the frontman reminds me of Chuck Schuldiner

  • amazing!

  • First time I heard these guys, pre DT and QR, I couldn't believe the absolute talent one unit could put out. It blew my mind, changed my musical taste forever. Another seriously underated prog band worth checking out is Kingsbane. Very melodic and compare to DT meeting QR.

  • Dt are shit.

    Listen to Cynic and Atheist.

  • @Romencer17

How can you say that? DT I will admit is going in a bad direction with there mainstream appeal and their "radio-friendly" songs. However listen to DT's early albums. their first LP "When Dream and Day Unite" is an amazing prog attack. Their EP "a change of seasons" is also amazing.

I prefer the heavier bands such as Watchtower and Atheist myself, but dream theater are definitely not shit!

  • @rokickit who is QR?

  • Le bassiste assure!!!Quel son!!!

Me fait penser à du SADUS en moins rapide.

  • Heard about this band from an interview with Richard Christy, the drummer who toured with Death and played on The Sound of Perseverance. Now it makes complete and total sense! Both Death and Watchtower are incredibly talented bands!

  • Agree!

  • Ron Jarz > God

  • Sadus's best is Illusions IMO

  • very inspiring... it really shows there are no boundaries to music

  • cult album for me!

    Gods of the early 90s

    Watchtower (Control and Resistance)

    + Coroner (quite all albums)

    + Cynic (Focus)

+ Noctunus (Thresholds) + Atheist (Unquestionable...)

+ Sadus (Vision of Misery) = perfection

  • Hey you're missing Believer and Sacrifice! Haha. While both of them started out really thrashy, their latter stuff is definately music to the ears of progressive fans. Oh and Pestilence too! And who could forget Death??

  • @deaththrash

What do you think of Dark Angel's Time Does Not Heal? What about Anacrusis' Manic Impressions?

  • I dig em. I feel that Time Does Not Heal does get a little monotonous and boring at some points though. Older Testament is a little progressive too. Xentrix is another pretty good progressive thrash band. They're mid-tempo mostly and you gotta dig the way over done metallica-style vocals, haha.

  • @deaththrash

Yeah, they're amazing, but kind of singular in their approach. Dark Angel, that is.

I'll have to check out Xentrix, I've heard of them but never got a chance to listen to them. Thanks.

  • i know this question wasn't directed at me. for some reason i cannot listen to anacrusis, i've heard like 5 of their songs. maybe its what i've listened to, wanna reccomend something for me?

  • Thanks, these where all great

  • You've got great taste in music!

  • @jglll I agree with all of those except Cynic, I just cannot get into Cynic. :S

  • @ThrashSpeedBurn you should listen intensively to FOCUS from CYNIC until this masterpiece absorbs you... it's an unforgettable experience...

  • @jglll your list is perfect, i would add death& also pestilence. anyway, check this out: SPIRAL ARCHITECTS, you will s**t your pants for sur)))

  • @anahowana of course DEATH ("individual"is for in my top 5 ever) !!! Pestilence is also good stuff (a part of "testimonies") and "spheres" for it's unique mood...brilliant...

i started listening to spiral architect one year ago, very technical and well written...

Some tracks from Obscura "Cosmogenesis" are also interesting...

  • @jglll now there is somebody with a taste in music.

  • @dudewhosaysarrh thanks! i could be lost on an island with those albums without feeling lost...

  • @jglll you probably forgot Pestilence: Spheres. also Death: Human.

  • @anahowana You're right!

"Spheres" is so unique... idream to find an album with the same mood and emotions... slow tempo and weird harmonies...

"Human" is excellent, and impressive, but "individual" is just perfecter... i don'"t know why...

  • @jglll What about Death? Individual Thought Patterns and Symbolic are my favorite albums

  • @MrPie455 yes, of course!!!

    Human+Individual+Symbolic ...

"Individual Thought Patterns" is in my top 10 ever...

I'm really impressed by the qualities of the compositions, the skills of the musician, the variety of rhythms...

  • @jglll

The only albums by Watchtower that have already been released are from the 80s ;)

(and also the best Coroner albums) Anyway, great list!

  • @jglll circus maximus - isolate!

  • @jmdb1994 thanks, i will chek this album with interest... ithink this is more like DT?

  • @jglll a little bit.. not much

  • @jglll dont forget

Death - Individual Thought Patterns :D

  • @jglll Voivod?...

  • @Tweenythepriest i've never really been into voivod, but i respect them!!!

  • @jglll you have so good taste

  • @jglll yeah man, I can agree with that, but I would add The Key by Nocturnus and Demilich.

  • @jglll thank you so much man! i've been trying to look for some good early 90s prog!

  • One of my all time favorite CDs!!

  • I'm old school enough to say first Ron rules but watchtower was a cross of Agent steel and Blind Illusion in my opinion.Sabuptolemy I think Death Angel is what the guy meant to say and metalrules13 I saw Dark Angel at the Cameo theater in Miami in 89 the opening acts were tempus fugit, malevolent creation, cynic and raped ape and reign in blood is better than any Dark Angel album ever.Reign in blood is a one of a kind jaw dropper of pure ferocity.

  • they are the gnr of tech metal. they have been working on a new record for like 19 yrs now. however ron says the disc will be released in 2010. one can only hope

  • That's some crazy riffage.

  • Vocals are kind of reminiscent of John Arch.

  • i don't like the vocals that much but all the rest kick ass... killer riffs...Wicked bass...aWesome drums blah blah solos blah blah..lol GREAT SONG... ps! really good comment by

odenswarriors6 ..i didnt knoW that but it defenately sounds logic :P

  • Amazing Song

  • WATCHTOWEEEEEEEEEEEEEER

  • Holy crap! This is good :-)

  • 80´s progressive metal fucking rules:Fates Warning,Dream Theater,Queensryche,Watchtower,Atheist etc..

  • reminds me of Death or Dark Angel

  • one of chuck shuldiners fav bands/ influences

  • Dark Angel wtf? they sound nothing like this.

  • This sounds NOTHING like Dark Angel. DA were pretty much a Slayer clone on 'Darkness Descends'. The Death comparison makes more sense since Chuck was a huge Watchtower fan as were members of other Florida bands such as Atheist, Cynic, and Nasty Savage.

  • @SabuPtolemy Dark Angel was not a Slayer clone since Reign In Blood and Darkness Descends came out in the same year, and Darkness Descends was way more intense than anything Slayer had released up to this point and probably including Reign In Blood too, not to mention far more technical. Influenced by Slayer? Of course. Slayer clone? Not at all.

  • Watchtower reunited in 2001, when Chuck was dying of cancer, one of his final requests was to see the reunion

  • the first gods of prog metal

  • i loved it when teccio was singing for them. dated? i dunno, as far as i know they wanted him to sing like that.

  • I prefer Coroner...

  • amazing guitar work. reminds me of cacophony.

  • Well, maybe that's because Friedman and Becker were listening to Ron Jarzombek's solo demos when they wrote some of the Cacophony stuff.

Funny enough, WatchTower approached Friedman about joining the band when Billy White left, and Friedman asked Doug Keyser to join Cacophony around the same time. ;-)

  • I LOVE MY PITBULL

  • The best album of all time!

    Doug Keyser is amazing!!!

  • excelente grupo, destaco sobre todo al vocalista!!!

  • fucking amazing band

    both their albums are masterpieces

  • That's REAL PROGRESSIVE!!!!!

  • this drummer is a fucking machine

  • hail ronnie!!

  • the "McMaster" version is far more superior....the one from the '86 demo. WATCHTOWER still rules!!

  • I don't tink so, both are prog bands, but so different one of other in the maner they compose their music. By the way, that's why I'm think, and I'm not agree with you.

  • Great band but, Jason is and will always be ab ahole. And yeah I know it's not him singing. Wher's Da KABOOM. Only true Watch Tower fans know!!!!

  • i based my whole guitar philosphey whatever......around this dude..... this is the shit............. this is the ssssssshhhhhhhhiiiiittttttttttttttt..................

  • ¡Ron Jarzombek!

  • fucking song i love it

  • what happened to your balls? is that why you said such a pussy comment?

  • don´t worry about it. somebody else will see to you.

  • go ahead be a dick. you suck.

  • Why do people always have to argue on Youtube, like you're going to convince anybody

  • yeah fyi metallica sucks (after cliff burton died)

  • One of the Greatest Bands EVER!!!!!!!

  • FUCKIN TEXAS METAL, YA!!!!!

Local-ish band for me, this album kicks ass!!!!

  • Fucking awesome! Didn't know they have made a music video thought :)

  • Wer spielt da Schlagzeug ? Gibt es doch einen GOTT ? Who plays the drums ? Is there really a GOD ?

  • oh shit! its like.. the PsyOpus of the 80's!

  • Amazing voice. Almost comparable to an orgasm :D

  • I don't normally do the youtube comment shit. But you are a fucking idiot who has no business whatsoever listening to music. You should literally go cut your god damn ears off with a fucking butcher knife.

  • Thats funny because I know Dream Theater's history and I've got all their albums and heard them. Kevin James LaBrie and Geoff Tate have two different vocals. The one who proves to be the best is Kevin, in my thoughts. But if your going to be talking shit because you are trying to make people like you, then you are the fucking idiot to say anything against what I have said. You don't know shit about music.

  • Dream Theater is so overrated it's not even funny. Watchtower, Fate's Warning and Opeth all PWN Dream Theater to hell and gone. And this is from a Musician from a Family of Musicians. I never saw the point of all the Dream Theater hype. Their Music is souless tripe in My opinion.

And Geoff Tate is 10X The Singer of Wussy Kevin James LaBrie.

  • Moron. btw, How is Dream Theater overrated? Are they on Rolling Stones magazine 24/7 like many other bands? No you fucking retard. And just because you are a Musician from a Family of Musicians means nothing. Some moron who is a Musicians said John Petrucci played in Megadeth and that Dave is better than John. I laughed hard their. So are you going to agree with that dumbass? btw, Geoff Tate is good but isn't better than Kevin James LaBrie, who isn't the best singer either.

  • This from a Guy that has a username form Metallica's pure shit Era?...lol.

They're overrated cause there are a hell of a lot better Bands out there but they get all the press, and Rolling Stone is a bunch of jagoff mainstream nimrods regardless. If that's the best argument You have I'd get used to losing. No one with a brain in their head takes Rolling fucking Stone seriously. Mustaine better than John, no but Friedman torches Him in spades.

And Labrie<Tate 10X get used to it.

  • hey you fucking retard, the song speaks out to me. Have you read the lyrics? no so fuck you. Queensryche is way overrated than Dream Theater and and you talk about DT being overrate but say Geoff Tate is better than Kevin James LaBrie. Thats very funny actually. You lost, i suggest you stop now.

  • Oh well guess We're not done with the name calling, and no fuck You. If You want to calm the fuck down, and have a rational discussion feel free, till then I'm afraid I'll have to keep pwning You. I lost? I don't see any decent rebuttal from You for what I said about Rolling Stone..

You lost last round, it's not even a contest now.

  • I actually stated Rolling Stones was shit from them being the judges of who is the most overrated with lists that have great guitar players but missing alot so i lost nothing there.

  • Didn't take a lot of English classes eh? Ever heard of the word "punctuation"?

Like I said not even a contest. Pwning You was enjoyable, have a nice evening.

  • Do you know me? Do you know if i take English class or not? I don't have to be all formal here. You made lots of mistakes yourself so you can shut the fuck up there. You said it wasn't a contest but at the same time, you are. You pwned nothing so quit being retarded already. I am done here. Not my fault you are a stupid. I should correct someone that can't correct themselves.

  • You're a Gem I swear, can People push Your buttons this easily in real life? Drink a beer or something Dude, damn it's just a disagreement not a war.

  • waht mean pwning??? pwned???

  • And I guess I'll accept Your tacit acknowledgment that Load and Re-Load were pure piles of steaming shit because You never replied to that either.

    Game, set, and match.

  • Did i even defend the albums? no moron. I like all the albums songs up to ReLoad, were some were decent with the singles being the best, as well as St. Anger expect Frantic was decent and Death Magnetic is great and hoping they keep that up. And you only mentioned the song, not albums so read your own comments you dumbass.

  • Damn, You're dense. Are You a doorknob? St Anger was the biggest pile of shit ever basically. Death Magnetic was a minor comeback I admit. Load & Re-Load aren't worth used toilet paper.

You didn't even get what I was driving at, I might as well be arguing with My dog.

  • moron, I don't view albums bands do to each other but if they are music worthy. Load was music worthy and the next two went kinda down with few songs that were great.

  • Remember, proper sentence structure is Your friend.

  • You are right about one thing though. Tate isn't the best Singer, that would be Robert Plant.

    YOU fucking Moronorama.

  • I never said either of them were the best. besides, Tom S. Englund is the best and i doubt you heard of his name, let alone him singing. btw, I am not some moron talking about overrated bands and whose the best when you have both in the same area.

  • No Your right again I never heard of Him, I'm certain He's in
