I saw them live a few times - they saved my life many times...Got the original album :) Read it and weep :) (just kidding about the read and weep part, I really got the album) Take care and thanks for posting...
Love this song. Used to listen to it all the time back in the times, and back in Sweden. So if it reached there, and made an impact (on a few), why is it so forgotten???
The first song I loved by the Gun club. I first noticed it being played between bands at the Metropolis in the early 80's in Seattle and later I asked Perry (DJ at the Metropolis) "whats this song" and I hummed it out from memory--he told me it was the Gun Club but couldn't tell me the song title. When I was 19 Matthew Moon recognized my hummed version, and lent me Las Vegas Story. I love mystery songs that haunt me. Thanks to Perry, Matthew and Disgraceland for loving and sharing great music.
The Gun Club were one of our hometown's (Los Angeles) best bands, and I was blessed to have seen them live. At first they were written off as a joke, but then they rose up and proved those naysayers wrong. Their albums were totally stupendous. Jeffrey Lee Pierce was a gifted lyricist, and it broke my heart when I heard he'd died at far too young an age. When I used to hear this song on KXLU, Jeffrey Lee's portrait of an ominous, otherworldly stranger would send chills up my spine--few songs do that!
