  • Is this song about cocaine or what?

  • @godlyronaldo9 Um, dunno if it's ABOUT it... But it has that subliminal message... Just like a bunch of other great bands that can never be replicated again.. Kinda like Tool..

  • 700k views is an insult to this band

  • Incubus is the kind of band that seems to have a song for everyone, for every mood, for every occasion.

  • Mike's hair is intense in this clip.

  • the musicians never sleeps..

  • right .. they made a good music..

  • incubus is fantastic...... they made good music.

  • alright i am going to level out here did any of you ever think that maybe, just maybe, Brandon Boyd is a clever other-worldly, bright, intellectual, and opinionated man? A lyrical genius and a melodically intense artist? This song is clearly deeper than most of you can even begin to fathom. Just like many more of their songs. P.S. pleeeeeeeeassse troll me, I have a great big bridge you can live under with lots of room and running water. (if you are intelligent at all you will understand that)

  • Amo incubus♥

  • simple song!

  • Deko57 I guess the clip is a mix between Orwell's novels "the animal farm" and "1984"

besides probably this one has been made before "hey ya"

  • BRANDON BOYD..!!(L)...

  • o brasil ama incubusssssss

  • aztig 8 so cool u^_6

  • i wish more of u actually understanded what he tries to say behind the lines..... Yeah i know the music is beautifull,, But the lyrics is also deep like the ocean... try read 1984 by george orwell to understand why he says "come one come all to 1984...." so u understand more of his lyrics....

  • @uglefisken haven't read the novel, but i just wiki-ed it.

it seems i was right all along when it comes to its interpretation (politics and mind control in general) unless theres more something into it

  • the song soud like come as you are, and the clip looks like hey ya.

  • @Deko57 OH HELL NAW!

  • Shido shido me encanta incubus!!!!

  • even without dirk this album was awesome, so they did something right here, its a shame that light grenades didnt keep up the standard,

still best band even imo ^.^

  • Suck it. It sounded different, it was still a great album.

  • this song is based on both 1984 and animal farm i think. in 1984 citizens are perpetually watched over by the government through hidden cameras and tvs (if i recall correctly). both books explore similar themes and the general theme of this song can be referred to both. but actually all i can think about while seeing this vid is how hot brandon is...lol...NOT to say that thats all he is.

  • love this song there rly gd first time i have hrard them but there so gd love the lead singers voice xx

  • Brandon viadiinhoo.

  • gotta love everything abt Incubus! :D

  • Enjoy you from the chemical,

Comfort of America. Come One Come All Into Neighteen Eighty-four

    !!!

  • hay k liinda a mii tambiien m encanta sabez i maz o menoz por lo mismo k a ati!!! jiji

  • the entire thing is just brilliant, the lyrics, the video, is interpretation on life. it kinda calms my nerves to know that there are people in this world who see it how i do.

    tv....watch your soul say goodbye

  • i know every song word for word!!i dont know what i would do with out incubus!!

  • no ma amo esta cancion

    incubus es lo mejor

    aciiaz beto por prestarme

    este disco

  • i think its really fuckin dope how the chorus spells out cocaine

  • holy shit..

  • i think this song is a reference to how they don't communicate with the crowd when they perform....they are mute.

    i saw it for myself.

  • no...do you not know the book 1984

  • What?!

You picked out one word, and applied it to the most abstract thing you could come up with.

The title, Talk Shows on Mute, is referencing an event where Brandon dubbed a muted talk show. While doing this, it occured to him that it wouldn't be long (if not presently true) that Television would watch us, while we watch it.

This all reminded him of George Orwell's 1984. Thus, the title and chorus.

That being said, Incubus didn't need to talk to the crowd to get them invovled.

  • ahahahahah

    cara de xerador ele tem!

  • perturbadoramente encantador

  • muy buena cancion

  • wow..... and hey. well they express the cocaine high. as the american high. just lights and cameras. ya dig?

  • BUENA ROLA!!! VENGA!!!

  • Brandon Boyd says the inspiration for the song came to him while watching a talk show on an airplane

"I was on an airplane when a talk show began playing on the TVs. I decided to start narrating for the people, which is a really great game if you're ever bored enough. I realized a time will probably come when television will watch us if we're watching it, if that hasn't already happened, figuratively or literally. It sounded like some sort of pseudo-Big Brother nightmare, so I wrote it down."

  • does this song have reference to the book 1984's Big Brother?

  • It vaguely does imo there definitely are connections betweens the novel and messages in the video

  • i tough the inspiration it was about the book called 1984 writed by george orwell

  • Comment removed

  • incubus said that the inspiration for the mv was george orwell's book, "animal farm."

i remember reading that book when i was a sophomore in college. its about animals acting like humans, but in actuality the book is an allegory of how socialism spreads.

  • totalitarialistic communism not socialism big difference

  • Animal farm is about Communism and Corruption, mostly relating to Vladimir Lenin and Joseph Stalin's Reign. wtf does that have to do about this video......
