Well, free staters, your strategy should include the likelhood of the state trying to eliminate free speech. Otherwise, if the state is willing to go further than you are (they are), then they will win.
"Once a country accepts censorship of the press and of speech, then nothing can be won without violence. Therefore, so long as you have free speech, protect it." Ayn Rand, Lecture, "Political Vacuum of Our Age," presented to a group of women in journalism (Indiana, 1961)
You should really bring the civil disobedience to the supreme court. This is a violation of your constitutional rights. Simple because a city/state creates a law does not mean the law itself is legal. Or in your case, the law maybe legal but misinterpreted by the state and used incorrectly in your situation.

This is BS. He broke a law, He had pot ON HIM. that is different then talking about it. Now if he was arrested for talking then I would be behind him, But he was guilty of possession.
It said he was. he had a very small amount, Just to make a statement. the problem is that no matter how small the amount is, It is illegal. Don't get me wrong, I do not have any problems with people who like pot. I think it is as harmless as alcohol. And that it would make more sense if they just regulated and taxed it. the reason they can't tax it is because any joe could and likely does grow their own. I think prostitution should be legalized to and controlled like in Nevada.
Ian Freeman was not in possession, he was in attendance and reported on an act of civil disobedience by another. Now Ian risks jail time. One person being arrested for protesting prohibition (isn't a smoker himself)and another possibly going to jail for reporting on it.
actually alcohol saves lives, too, when used as a medicine. It can be used as a disinfectant on a wound and can help reduce the chances of food poisoning by killing bacteria in your gut.
Alchohol is harmful any way you look at it. It is one of the few drugs that kills brain cells. Marijuana doesn't kill brain cells, however, it blocks communinication between cells affecting motor skills and perception. Alchohol abuse over extended time causes pyserosis of the liver. Drinking makes you do things you regret the next day, feel like shit mentally and physically. Hangovers are a bitch. All you alcies should just light one up and chill.
Yes it is harmful any way you look at it but when you pour it over a wound it is harmful to the bacteria that would be harmful to you. One could categorize this as healthful. The same goes for killing bugs in your food.
Obviously, abuse of alcohol is by definition harmful but not all use is abuse.
He was guilty of nothing as a human. Crimes are committed againstthe population by enacting laws that go against their wishes. All marijuana prohibition is corporate controlled. Politicians only do the corporations business for them. Law is only for rich and greedy.

Prima facie judicial harassment. When you're dealing with kind of chain-of-command complicity, redress within that system's structure is probably pointless. The best tactic would be videos like this: expose this outrageously unjustified and disproportionate waste of resources and tax dollars: That will appeal to a broader public's interests, especially in the current fiscal melieu. Might get some needed torque that way.

Wow-it is getting really interesting to see WHO gets away with certain crimes of corruption vs. who gets the book thrown at them for excerising civil rights.
[Art.] 10. [Right of Revolution.] Government being instituted for the common benefit, protection, and security, of the whole community, and not for the private interest or emolument of any one man, family, or class of men; therefore, whenever the ends of government are perverted, and public liberty manifestly endangered, and all other means of redress are ineffectual, the people may, and of right ought to reform the old, or establish a new government.
This is what "WE" need. Worldwide. Just stop cooperating with the elite. Non- Compliance. If you believe the U.S. is the only oppressed peoples because of the elite then think again people. Worldwide global resistance to the NWO begins on Nov 5, 2009 at the stroke of Midnight. Prepare. Thanks for posting that section of the bill of rights. Unless politicians step up to the plate they are all guilty of allowing every manner of crime to be perpetrated against the people by the so called elite..
Someone write a story up with a more accurate headline that mentions him being charged for supporting marijuana legalization and the internets will be fully on his side.
New Hampshire is the only state besides Kentucky and Maryland which provides for a "Right of Revolution" in its State Constitution. The Bill of Rights contained in the NH State Constitution also states "Among the natural rights, some are, in their very nature unalienable, because no equivalent can be given or received for them. Of this kind are the Rights of Conscience." It also contains an explicit & inviolable Right to Free Speech. So, constitutionally, it appears that the statute is void.
I'm curious, what did Mr. Freeman say when he "Politely calls a local talk show host and angers a local bureaucrat."? That seems to be the start of all this...and how many overweight, overpaid NH detectives does it take to handcuff Mr. Freeman in court?
Excellent comprehensive, linear, concise investigative reporting, Dave! You put the corporate news to shame! They look like amateurs compared to this.
Issues like these make me wonder if having one centralized location for freedom lovers is a good idea. The less centralized the better. I think Free Staters should consist of liberty lovers of every state unified by the liberty cause.
I think what Free Staters in NH should do is all come forward, as mentioned on your forum, but come forward at the hearing/trial saying you are all guilty of the supposed crime. The will have to treat you all equally otherwise its disparate enforcement.
civil disobedience is a dangerous thing to engage in. but perhaps equally if not more dangerous would be NOT engaging in civil disobedience. it's been used- and used to great effect in some cases- all throughout history.
unions are huge as well for bringing about positive social change [and yes, i'd have to argue that working conditions are a social matter].
er, positive changes, that is, for those who don't have far too much 'power'.
If you think there's anything positive about unions, then you are simultaneously grossly ignorant about economics and grossly ignorant about the actual history of unions. They're as bad as the state (they're an extension of the state, so no surprise there).
as they exist HERE today. but as with just about everything else in the rest of the world, somehow it goes through a filter when it hits the US and everything gets a new meaning. typically in many ways the exact opposite of what everyone else calls it. it's the simplest and most ingenious way we're oppressed.
bunk. they've been abused and all but destroyed, but unions have brought good things. and remain one of the most democratic platforms in our polyarchy people can risk stepping on.
I'm curious as to when they will legislate the 'Live Free or Die' motto away. Or perhaps it is kept around for the same reasons as the Bill of Rights - to provide the illusion that things exist when in fact they don't.

If you talk someone into commiting a crime then they can find you partially responsible.
Like the people teaching suicide bombers to do their job are guilty also.
Or if you tell someone how to rb a bank.
It is a broad sort of law that has been taken to extreme in this case.
He should just get a warning I think as the crime he advises on is personal use of pot hurts no one but the user.

State Constitution - Bill of Rights
Established October 31, 1783 Effective June 2, 1784 As Subsequently Amended and in Force January 2007
LumpyRevolution 3 years ago

The doctrine of nonresistance against arbitrary power, and oppression, is absurd, slavish, and destructive of the good and happiness of mankind.

Someone write a story up with a more accurate headline that mentions him being charged for supporting marijuana legalization and the internets will be fully on his side.
darkreign16 3 years ago 4
seconded. Add the word "Marijuana" to the title and this could go viral.
somecomputergeek 3 years ago 2
HA HA! See that shit?
Before the word "marijuana" was added to the title: about 1,000 views.
ONE DAY After: > 6,000.
I should get a complimentary plug for my business for that one. heh heh.

I think Eminem captured this well in his song "Sing for the Moment":
They say music can alter moods and talk to you
Well can it load a gun up for you, and cock it too
Well if it can, then the next time you assault a dude
Just tell the judge it was my fault and I'll get sued

Might apply to a child's parent. Two independent (legal) adults? Well, that's some reeeeeeally questionable verbiage there.

Wow, sound like your local government is filled with people of evil intent.
Keep exposing them the the light, evil hates that.

They're getting desperate because we're growing and they know it. Our free speech is a threat to their house of cards.
AnarchyInYourHead 3 years ago 8
The fact that they're attempting to do this is proof positive that the Free-Staters are having an effect. Otherwise, why would they even bother?
Keep free speech free!

So much for the interpretation of the 1st Amendment.

civil disobedience is a dangerous thing to engage in. but perhaps equally if not more dangerous would be NOT engaging in civil disobedience. it's been used- and used to great effect in some cases- all throughout history.
unions are huge as well for bringing about positive social change [and yes, i'd have to argue that working conditions are a social matter].
er, positive changes, that is, for those who don't have far too much 'power'.
intrepgun 3 years ago 3
If you think there's anything positive about unions, then you are simultaneously grossly ignorant about economics and grossly ignorant about the actual history of unions. They're as bad as the state (they're an extension of the state, so no surprise there).
odigity 3 years ago
Just like corporations... I puke on both institutions as they exists today.
lordmetroid 3 years ago 2
as they exist HERE today. but as with just about everything else in the rest of the world, somehow it goes through a filter when it hits the US and everything gets a new meaning. typically in many ways the exact opposite of what everyone else calls it. it's the simplest and most ingenious way we're oppressed.
intrepgun 3 years ago 3
Damn!!! Someone gets it!!!
powerfull155 3 years ago
bunk. they've been abused and all but destroyed, but unions have brought good things. and remain one of the most democratic platforms in our polyarchy people can risk stepping on.
intrepgun 3 years ago
Yeah, unions were created so that workers wouldn't start an organization themselves and actually work for something worthwhile.
As the saying goes, "if the opposition didn't exist, it would be created."
Grumblingone 3 years ago
I'm curious as to when they will legislate the 'Live Free or Die' motto away. Or perhaps it is kept around for the same reasons as the Bill of Rights - to provide the illusion that things exist when in fact they don't.
