In my personal opinion, the original story had a somewhat... dumb?... plot

because of the reasons for all of their actions.

I enjoyed this one much more because it gives Romeo and Juliet such dynamic and pure characters. More so than the original, again in opinion.

That is not to say that the original was not good, so I hope this does not deter you away from the original Shakesperean play.

@CelsyCake sorry, I don't think so! the anime series ends (spoiler) as the shakespearian story, that is with the death of the two main characters, so there can't be any movie! (at least not with romeo and juliet as the main characters)... but, as you probably know, there's some movies that are made out of the novel... my favourites are Romeo and Juliet, with Leonardo di Caprio <3 ; ) and Romeo and Juliet, with Leonard Whiting, as Romeo and Olivia Hussey, as Juliet!
