@redermann Top Gear did a comparison between the Monaro, Chrysler 300C and Jaguar S-Type back in 2004 (in season 5). So I guess the UK has had access to the Monaro for quite a few years now (don't know if they still have it - I mean we still have the Commodore but I'm sure Holden stopped making the Monaro a couple of years ago).

Can I just say one thing? I've sat in an SLR at a Benz dealership in Ontario Canada and the interiors in these cars are absolute garbage.

Top Gear often criticizes American cars for being cheap and plastic-like inside.

But if you ever get the opportunity, check out the interior on the SLR, it is astonishing how incredibly cheap and shitty they've made it look and feel inside LOL.

@HellMaster548 first off, it's not twice as expensive, it's 3.5 times as expensive (the old SLR started off at USD $643,000)...so yes..you're right about the SLR being more expensive....and second, there's not much difference between the 2 as far as engine output is concerened...i mean yes the SLR produces 608bhp according to factory figures, whereas the SLS only makes pathetic 563...so it's not like comparing an M5 to a 3 series really....

@HellMaster548 and either way, the point I was trying to make was that these are both overly expensive mercedes cars which select few of us can afford....so comparing them on that basis, the SLR is classier and better looking...and look at it this way..when they launched the SLR, they were comparing it to the old 300 SL gullwing...then they came out with a proper SLS gullwing, they're still comparing it to the 300 SL gullwing....so price is not everything my friend...
