E3 2011 - My Thoughts on the Big 3

Just so that everyone knows, Kinect won't be doing that hot shortly. Just recently, Kinect was sued for multiple patent infringements from a company cased out in Ohio, as well as multiple games that take advantage of similar software. This doesn't mean that all Kinects will be destroyed remotely, but this could heavily impact new Kinect games being released, Money being taken per device/game sold, etc. So this may turn out bad for Microsoft, considering how much money they put into Kinect.

Is it just me or the whole E3 felt just flat this year? The industry is on transition and nobody got something to get excited about. All the big upcoming titles have already been covered. The fat controller that Nintendo unveiled felt like another gimmick.

I think the reason that we didn't see the console was that the controller was finished, but the actual console is a late prototype-they might still want to change things like designs or OS before it's released next year.

Me and my friend was left with nothing but confusion, and felt a great sense of dissapointment and frustration.

Not a good first impression indeed. I care a lot for my consoles, and hearing nintendo saying "it's just a box. Who cares?" doesn't exactly help their current situation.

Microsoft needs newly announced exclusives. Halo and Gears can't keep them alive for long. Same goes for Sony, BUT they actually gave us new exclusives to look forward to (ex. Sly 4, Uncharted Vita, Bioshock Vita, etc.) Sony, I thought was good, the Vita looks great and the Playstation has good games going for it. Maybe a few more would give them more of an advantage. Nintendo I liked as well, but their conference left too many important questions about the Wii U. 3DS has more for it now too.

Making Dust 514 PS3-exclusive is a mistake. CCP has got to realize that the EVE community wants this game and doesn't necessarily want to get a PS3 to play it. I have a PS3 so I'll be checking it out, but I have a bunch of people in my corporation who don't have a PS3 and have no intention of getting one.

@Charization It was confusing because they led us to believe the WiiU was a controller, or an accessory to the existing Wii console, when in fact, it is a whole new platform.  A 5 second mention of new hardware would have cleared it up.

Mass Effect has an amazing story and ME2 has one of the best TPS gameplays I've experienced.

Upon further research, I feel betrayed that Bioware would go multi-console with ME3. But I still submit ME1, ME2, Gears 2 and the entire Halo franchise. "Mass Effect" is not on playstation. Mass Effect THREE is GOING TO BE on playstation.

I kinda agree that the console is not important. the console is really just the thing that you put discs in and plays them (and other things like usb). It's more important how you play the game.

Makes perfect sense to me that what the box looks like and what components are in it are not even important enough to mention for Nintendo at the first unveiling of a console designed to cater to as wide an audience as possible.
