  • Hey I have a question:

What should I consider when buying a bagpipe? Currently I'm saving up for a set of McCallum P1s with a McCallum B flat chanter as opposed to a standard chanter so I can play with other musicians. Does that sound like a good direction? Don't ask what my teacher thinks because I'm self taught. There aren't teachers in San Antonio that I can afford and I'm somewhat musically gifted so I'm doing well on my practice chanter. Now I'm looking to buy a set. Thoughts?

  • @DBrewster316 I've sent a longer and more detailed answer to you separately. You'll certainly be happy with your choice of McCallum P1s.

I do think you'll need help and support in adjusting the strengths of the 3 drones reeds to that of the chanter reed. Is there a local pipe band you could go to ? Good luck !
