  • @99FORDTUFF its mainly custom stuff super lift front 8in springs and 8in custom hangers ORU track bar and high steer set up with PSC hydro assit. front dual 7in cv drive shaft from drive shaft warehouse who i will never buy from again... rear is 14in springs from national spring with 4in stock block thicker 11/16 ubolts... the list goes on but thats about it for the lift itself

  • @ozziemo27 I have seen this truck in person ... the way he did the lift IS totally custom. The springs may not be custom, but the perches, the hangers, and the mounts are ALL custom done at his shop! Very heavy-duty!

  • Ford is leaving Navistar because Powerstrokes are crap. They were getting stomped by the competition so they took matters into their own hands.

    In two years from now Ford will be testing the flaws of a brand new engine..and trust me its not going to be perfect. By then Cummins will have perfected the 6.7 for 4 years by then. Scorpion will just be growing little baby balls. It will be 2015 before Ford can start bragging again.

    Ford isn't entirely leaving international. Some of their medium duty trucks will still be running international engines, along with a few cummins options. It's obvious why Ford is leaving international...it's CHEAPER.

    Instead of Ford leasing out an engine and paying royalties for every powerstroke sold (as Chrysler/Gm do), they just developed their own to save money. It's simple economics.

  • You obviously don't know anything about economics and why companies outsource projects. They do that because 1. focus on core competencies of the business 2. gain world class expertise 3. controls staffing and limits cost elsewhere 4. Lowers the total cost of ownership and liability.

    Chrysler needed a bailout, not Cummins. Bailouts doesn't make your truck better. Today's stock quote Cummins (CMI) - $46.85 a share. Navistar $35.48 a share. Now you tell me who is in the better financial situation

  • What are you talking about? It will always be cheaper for a company to develop their own engine than to pay royalties to another company that specializes in engines (in the long run). In the short run it's cheaper what Dodge/Gm/Ford are currently doing to lease out engines from other companies.

    But in the long run, which i assume is what Ford is going for since it's been almost 100 years, it will be cheaper for them to develop their Scorpion engine now.

  • Its not cheaper for a company to start new developments, especially a new diesel. They acquire more assets, which helps the company, but they have more liability and taking on more risk which is shaky for share holders. Its going to cost Ford billions to get the Scorpion where they want it, and with that they leave behind special detail to suspension, chassis reinforcement and other qualities that makes a HD truck. Its cheaper to lease out projects and focus on the main goal..dominate the market

  • yea man 6.0 is a good engine but they also have problems with the head bolts i have buddies with them and i have worked on them they are good till you get to much power then they start to overheat and fail and the head gaskets fail also but as you say it is a good motor and i agree it just had some bugs in it as with all new engines do i guess too.

    Power of a 6.0:

    Horsepower: 325HP @ 3300 RPM

    Torque: 570 @ 2000 RPM

    Power of a 7.3:

    Horsepower: 250HP @ 2600 RPM

    Torque: 525 @ 1600 RPM

    Sounds like the 6.0 may be better?

  • 6.0s may have a bit more power then the 7.3's but the 6.0's die earlier then the 7.3s. We had a 550 service truck that died at 83,000 miles and we have a 450 service truck with the 7.3 and 210,000 miles on it that is still alive. We had a problem with the injectors on the 6.0.

    We are now moving into the Chevys We have one with 108,000 miles on it and it runs great.

    So don't call me an idiot because I know my facts from experience not some brochure

    I didn't read this out of a brochure, both my Uncle and my father are techs at a ford dealership. Right now I'm going into my 3rd year of training to work on these trucks so I bet I know a little bit more about them then you do.

    Oh and those specs that I gave you were updated straight out of our nearest dealership a couple weeks ago. Oh and I've seen a 6.0 go about 230k and have never seen an engine problem on it.

    personally, I think the 6.0's suck and I will most likely stick by that. Maybe the trucks got bad fuel or something, I don't know. All I can say is the 6.0's I have had and the other guys around me have sucked, period. I'm not going to argue online with someone I don't even know about what truck is better and etc.

  • Yes it is.

    For example: The 7.3 would have less low-end horsepower but would have a lot of low-end torque. So...The 7.3 would have more high-end horsepower but not as much torque.

    Starting off in a diesel truck, you will always have more torque but as you gain higher rpm's you will lose some/most of the torque but you will gain horsepower.

    Make Sense?
