I dont like how people blame Japan about thei crimes. What can Japan do? They apologized several times, the problem is that the Japanese dont know much about the crimes. They know that Japan did many atrocities to China and Korea, but they dont know how many innocent people died. In my opinion its not the most important to apologize. Its important to learn from the past and never forget.
FYI, I love Japan. I love it's heritage, it's honor and strict code of moral ethics that it's people possess. I'm an American and have no animosity towards them as a civilization. @1988scottcarey Yeah, I think Ace is right. They signed Article 9 which they prohibited themselves from deploying abroad. However, the US has been talking with Japan on strengthening their military. With tensions rising between the Japanese and North Koreans, The UN and US don't want them being vulnerable to attack. They have some serious technology for military weaponry though, they are still not a force to mess with. Very strong, very honorable and loyal.

The thing I love about Japan is that they have hardly any crime over there. I didn't even know Japan had a military as of today because they have us. But, wow, they really advanced.
It probably would have stood as a monument in tokyo bay (from being put out of service) because by 2050 it would have been way outdated and old and another similar ship probably would be built in it's place......
but it's not too late, Japan can still build one, but battleships are really outdated, now it's all about destroyers, but Japan still has some really good warship's in service so why would they need such a ship? But for sure it would be the greatest warship ever built :)
@Battlecorps101 It isn't that battleships are outdated, they can still bring the serious wood... look at the service record of the Iowas in Desert Storm; the problem is expense and manpower needed to operate one. 5 cheaper cruisers/destroyers can do the most of the job of one battleship, just without the huge guns, but make no mistake, an Iowa class would still be a SCARY threat to any navy that faced it.
Thing is, no potential enemy has a BB, so why maintain a ship designed to fight them?

We prefer having "2nd best" (if at all or else the best) and having full independence of using it the way we like over having the "best" equipment and waiting for US nod on whom, for what and where to use it against.

Its true that Russians have been good partners for 50 years but by allies i mean no formal alliance like NATO, CENTO, Warsaw Pact etc. PAKFA/FGFA is in prototype stage so far and only for flight tests, so we have to wait and see how good it is. It is pointless to argue until it comes out.
No one has Pakistan's back except their nukes. They are least of our concerns now except terrorism. We are better off in strategic partnership than formal alliances.

Here in Europe UK have nuclear warheads, France have too, but Germany not. There are nukes in Germany, but under US protection. That is just simbolic. FYI, I love Japan. I love it's heritage, it's honor and strict code of moral ethics that it's people possess. I'm an American and have no animosity towards them as a civilization. It sucks what happened in 1945 so, lets just leave it at that. Leave the past in the past. Only hatred comes from digging up such a hurtful past. 500,000 people did not die, it was 200,000. That is far less compared to how many Chinese died at the hands of the Japanese, death toll for that was around 16 Million.

@1988scottcarey Yeah, I think Ace is right. They signed Article 9 which they prohibited themselves from deploying abroad. However, the US has been talking with Japan on strengthening their military. With tensions rising between the Japanese and North Koreans, The UN and US don't want them being vulnerable to attack. They have some serious technology for military weaponry though, they are still not a force to mess with. Very strong, very honorable and loyal.

Always keep in mind though, at the hands of the Japanese, over 20 Million people died from their invasion of Asia and most of the Pacific Islands which is why America really did not want to sit around and watch. @Battlecorps101 It isn't that battleships are outdated, they can still bring the serious wood... look at the service record of the Iowas in Desert Storm; the problem is expense and manpower needed to operate one. 5 cheaper cruisers/destroyers can do the most of the job of one battleship, just without the huge guns, but make no mistake, an Iowa class would still be a SCARY threat to any navy that faced it.
Thing is, no potential enemy has a BB, so why maintain a ship designed to fight them?
