  • @Smurfygurl12: I totally agree. This is the best interpretation of this piece that I've ever heard and I would say that it will be hard, and I doubt if any other choir can interpret and perform this same piece better or at least equal this performance.Among the UST batch, pinaka gusto ko ang group na eto kasi mukhang typical na estudyante ang dating nila.

  • i had to learn this for NJ all state chorus and LET ME TELL YOU it's a freaking hard song. this is the best version i have ever heard of it! :D

  • Absolutely phenomenal performance: the sounds, textures, and musicality of this choir and piece is amazing.

  • Wow! This is unreal

  • Yeah I agreed to @dantbp...the best rendition!

  • proud to be a maranao! :) i used to play this with my friends when i was young.. nice song.. thanks UST singers for making us proud. thumbs up for you guys!

  • best version i've heard.

  • NJ allstate choir is singing this :0

  • @evyjo33 there's no way that I can do this song like that XD I'm in it, too, and I can't sing it without laughing yet. Nor will i ever have this memorized.

  • best version I heard!

  • @evolookah1 im from the philippines but i also dont understand the language... hehehe it's somewhat from the native tribes in the southern... im not sure....

  • we're singing this for our competition piece! this is a really amazing performance by the way!

  • here's the complete version:

"Pok pok a limpako, pok limpako piko, malalagoy di Dali, daon si Boroboro, bekar ka sa isa, aden matatarotop..."

Being the one speaking this language makes me proud my culture is being preserved abroad by people of other cultures...

  • gagaling talaga ng ust choir! *jaw dropped* they are AMAZING!! hanep talaga!!! well disciplined

  • I used to play pokpok alimpako during my childhood days. It's a maranao song.

  • Reminds me of my childhood... "bekar ka isa an matatarotop"! :-)

  • Comment removed

  • ay dipuga! haha...nice! love it!

  • Magaling po!! It's a maranao song we used to play pokpok alimpako wen we were kids po... Si Dali ang main Character nung kanta.. The game was like putting your palm together in the center, like doing a ritual or like that of a basketball team after the coach's break..

may kasunod pa yung lyrics eh.. "Iporo so olan, ibaba so bitoon" (itaas ang buwan, ibaba ang mga bituin) "kolo, kolo, kolo" (scaratching each members head para guluhin ang hair ng bawat isa.) after that saka tawanan kame lhat.

  • @shaims21 thanks sa explanation. now we know why they laughed at the end. amazing!

  • Its maranao language i think..."pokpok alimpako malalagoy si dali daon si moro-boro bekaar ka sa isa.." hirap translate sa tagalog..pok-pok= Hit.. malalagoy= tumatakbo...bekaar= open...isa=isa..hehehe

  • Unbelievable.

    This song is hard.

    And i mean HARD.

My schools madrigal group is attempting this and OMG it is practically impossible!

  • maganda kaya yung si alimpako? pokpok daw eh xD

  • the music is very interesting....even though i can't seem to understand the words carefully, i still can see the essence of the song being originally and culturally filipino...

  • excuse me, are you the arranger? if no, then shut up.

  • Galing nyo tol I LOVE YOU

  • fantastic. I sang this song a few years ago in a choir and it was a lot of fun. These guys blow it out of the water.

  • we have the same opinion.. parang chinese ung "pakpakalipak and so on" i think they were trying to sound oriental thats why... but i think thats cool... some pips kasi like nelo(look at chuay UST SINGERS from jojiebadilla), told me that UST's version is funny... i beg to disagree...

i think theyre revision is great.

  • I really liked the part at 1:32 when the guys starts to do vocal, it's like a surprise... weird but nice composition... LOL

  • nothing beats the original! <3

  • great song, great arrangement, great performance!

  • THE BEST VERSION EVER

NU ba naman, CHOIR of the World ang UST, the best chorale group in the country

  • I think it would take great skills in singing trying to do that. That's gotta be hard to sing. No wonder they've won the competition with this piece.

    > UB Voices Chorale...member

  • galing. mahirap talaga yung pyesa kaya parang nagmukhang constipated yung facial expressions nung iba. hehe. nice job though. galing ng ust singers.

  • Haha. Nice observation. :)

  • Pokpok Alimpako has been composed by Dr. Francisco Feliciano based on a Maranao children's song. It has been one of the contest pieces for NAMCYA's high school choir competition category in the 80s

  • 1981 to be exact.....

  • This isn't composed by UST definitely. The rendition is theirs of course. This is borrowed from the children's game of my people, the Maranaos, the people of the Lake.

  • my choir's in the process of learning this song. it's extremely difficult.

  • very nice, thanks. Hard to believe it's the same group on the Elijah Rock video, which I just listened to. E-mail me if you are coming to the DC area in the USA and I will definitely come see you! :)

  • I love this song so much. -^ ^- It's so much fun to sing. We did it with a little different tempos for the sections, but I love that the ending is sooo fast! We probably did the ending half that fast, and the middle part with the 'ma-la-la's twice as fast. *lol*

    So good!

  • ang galing shete....

  • anong year 'to ng NAMCYA, kc kasali din ako noon sa namcya eh, But our choral only won Regionals(Region 4-a) noong 2004

    its hella fun

  • AILM one is still the best. Jonathan Velasco's one. Timing was abit off for some parts

UST singers has the best interpretation.

  • Hahaha! My choir did this my junior year of highschool! It was great fun. ^_^ I love it!

  • saan kaya makakuha ng piece

  • bravo.. cno ng compose n2??

  • galing ...

  • galing!!!!!

  • Wow!

  • ang galing ng nasa 1:32..ang cool

  • This was one of the songs the Asian Chorale from AILM sung when we toured Sweden in 1988. Dr. Feliciano wanted a dance troupe with the Chorale group and we were the lucky ones! I remember that everytime they sung this song there was always a standing ovation. You're really great too!

  • pardn my rudeness once more!...UST Singers "Pokpok Alimpako" sounds better than that done by vocal consort!!!

  • correction... singers pala.. hehe

  • do you have ust singers recent videos? the present batch.

  • saan po ito ginanap?

  • looks like llangollen music festival

  • Good job, Wilby for posting this! Meron ka bang video performance ng group noong batch '99 and 2000? Sana meron at paki-post mo rin. Magaling din ang batches na iyon. thanks.

  • ha ha i like the title, POKPOK!

  • This piece was composed by Francisco Feliciano for the Children's Choir Category in NAMCYA. It's basically a play of words depicting children at play.
