Thank you for posting this informative clip. I have recently discovered that my great grandfather was one of the many killed in Mash Valley (as one of the 2nd MIddlesex Regt) and am visiting there soon. This clip really helps to put the area into perspective, and visualise what it may have looked like back in 1916. Please let me know if you have any more clips/info regarding the Mash Valley/Ovillers area of the Somme battles. All the best, Claire.
The only other YT videos I have of the immediate area are of the Lochnagar crater, about 300m SE of the start point of this video (towards sausage valley). I have a few a bit further NE (about a mile) around Pozieres. Look for my World War One playlist which contains a few other clips as well. Have you looked for your where great grandfather is buried? Check the CWGC web site. Would add an even more personal touch to your trip. See my retracing family clip. PM me if you need any add. info
