I would think that after the Shangri-Las disbanded in 1968, Mary Ann Ganser turned to drugs to get over the frustration of the breakup, which eventually killed her in 1970.
I think she sounds great. She still has that magic in her voice. I saw her live in New York and she was wonderful. I wish she would do some shows again.
The whole point is to keep the Shangri Las songs alive and she is playing to her audience. Its cool she is still keen to do that. I think is great fun and they love it.
@BingDar I WAS AT THIS CONCERT!!! - She is amazing!!! She sang a couple of old Shangri-Las songs (like this one) for the old fans - but then she did most of the NEW excellent songs off her latest album 'Dangerous Game'which is great.
She can still rock - and I tell you, most of the audience were far too young to remember the Shangri-Las but she had them dancing in the aisles and shouting for more! PS - I got to speak to her and she is one of the nicest people you could meet.
Okay, I knew someone was going to call me out on that one...But I have listened to her sing Leader of the Pack in a higher pitch than this, so I know that she could sing it a little higher. Apologies to those 60 and over, and to you, Mary...

Sorry she should hang it up, she's off tune and lets remember the original song when she was 15.....sad that she sounds soooooo bad.

@doowoplvr As per my comment below - the sound on the vid is not good. If you were actually in the theatre - it sounded brilliant

No. Sung too low. Don't tell me that she couldn't have done it a little higher. And get rid of those glasses. But I love the original Shangri Las.

1947studebaker1: A 60 year old not singing as high as she did when she was 16? Oh, the shame.
