  • nice video and music

  • Margarida (the one who nino gave an flying omoplata) was his student before being expelled of nino's academy..

  • alright, i'm confused here. why are we watching nino, but having people bitch about eddie? look, i like rubber guard. i use it, up to a point. if i can't break someone down, i go back to normal guard. it's what you have to do. and rubber guard is useless at a certain point. why go all the way to chill dog/invisible collar when you can the omoplata from new york? rubber guard has three viable positions. mission control, meat hook, and new york. that's it. it's more important to learn sweeps. done

  • i wonder how many times his knee popped?

  • nino is a badass and the original creator of the gogoplata, however the new master of the gogoplata is a dude called shigeki matsuda

  • wow.. holy shit, if seen some new videos of nino and that guy got serious skills!! i think he evolves bjj more than eddie bravo ever will, no hate on bravo but he really drives the merchandise-thing.. nino let you think you want and is much better on the ground, thats for sure!!

  • i think the guy in 8:00, in green trunks , dislocate his shoulder. he should have tapped earlier.

  • 7:20 i fucking hate people that slam, is a nooby way to escape- they panic and just use brute force booooooooooo im all for the technique.

  • This guys,is the guy that gave Mauricio Shogun Rua his blackbelt. That says something.

  • i wonder how he would have gone against saulo ribeiro? hmm.... my vote goes to saulo... what do you guys think?

  • what movie is that conversation from?

  • @MrSamyboi911 True Romance.

  • did this guy rly invent the gogo plata? awsome!

  • 2:33 haha dude looks terrified

  • @chesterfieldking

    LOL. So true.

He didn't just go fetal. He went like epileptic fetal.

  • Surely the slam at 7:20 was illegal?

  • @scorcher165 nah, up and down. completely legal in ADCC. What year was this, 99, right?

  • @scorcher165 ya wtf was that

  • sou fã desse cara!

  • who was #1 in the gracie's magazine ?

  • Yep dead right . Nino revolutionalised the omoplata.

  • Being a huge bjj fan and Elvis Presley fan..... this is just about the best vid on Youtube for me:)

  • Great vid. Props to Nino. A true BJJ innovator.

  • That was cool.

  • Great inclusion from True Romance

  • Thanks for this, well done!

  • What is he saying at 0:26-0:31?

  • Eddie WHO? Christ, dont even mention bravo in the same sentence. Bravo is a nobody pot smoking rock star wannabe who does some jits on the side. Nino is a true BJJ god. Compare their comps records and laugh. Eddie is famous for a single match in an ADCC he lost.

  • @speedgliding Eddie never claimed to be a great JJ competitor, he knows he is in terrible shape and only competed in that ADCC to prove a point.

Saying he is nothing for all the teaching and JJ theory that he pushes because he is not an active competitor. He is more of a coach and JJ analyst.

Compare it in football ideology, the players on the field have to be good at football, but its the analysts and coaches that push the sport farther.

    Thats Eddie

    Pot + JJ = awesomeness!

  • @speedgliding You are absolutely right. Folks don't understand the nature of the beast, sure he beat a great in Royler Gracie but then he lost horrible to another great Leo Vieira. Nino was the first with these moves, but sadly very few know of Nino and that he is considered one of the top 20 competitors of all time. He more than anyone promoted the Omo plata, and the Gogo plata was named by Nino. Eddie would perish against these guys Roger, Jacare, Marcelo, Terere, and Leo,

  • @vincespell Add Royler to the list, he would kill Eddie in a rematch.

  • Don't be a hater.

He's famous because he's changed the no gi game. He's famous because rubber gaurd works. Nino didn't create rubber gaurd, he was great with omaplata's and gogoplata's. But Ive never seen a video of him doing rubber gaurd.

No gi's the future, take of the japanese superhero costume.

    And weeds cool too XD

  • @Theprinceofponeage u are an idiot

  • @edupeixe You have a stunning vocabulary.

  • @edupeixe You're an idiot. What part of rubber guard utilizes a sleeve grip off of a spider guard transition? The basic mechanic of isolating the arm, and getting the foot up over and into the person's face is the same but the setups, grips, and control positions are drastically different.

If you were to try and rework rubber guard for gi grappling I imagine it would look much like this but what for Nino is a dynamic transition is an entire control position within the rubber guard.

  • @Theprinceofponeage

Do both. The GI makes you more technical. As of right now...99.9 % Of all NO GI Champs, Abu Dhabi Champs....Have all TRAINED and STILL TRAIN WITH A GI

  • @speedgliding Hes still an Elite Grappler at his weight and you cant deny his stuff works.

  • @omar2000089 Look, Eddie is a Machado black belt that trained in the GI. He is absolutely legit. He simply doesnt deserve the attention he gets compared to all the TRUE champions out there with long competition records that put Eddie to shame. Eddie is like a college basketball player, good, and those other guys are like JORDAN.

Eddies rubber guard system simple has not produced. People keep asking for time but its been many years now with no impressive results. Sorry. Its marketing hype.

  • @speedgliding

True. Also don't get me wrong, Im not a 10th planet nut hugger or anything. I do GI And No GI. But and this is a big BUT....Beating and tapping Royler Gracie is no small feat. Does the Rubber Guard Produce ? Ive seen it used successfully in MMA and numerous B,C.D Level MMA shows. Why does it work in MMA ? because you got them clinched down AND A Free Hand.

  • @omar2000089 umm. no offesne but this statement is completely wrong give me a link to an mma fight where the rubber guard helped someone finish a fight in mma? because i can give you a fight where a guy gets body slammed for using rubber guard. and you say it breaks them down and gives you a free hand. you cant submit someone with one hand. not only that it is very easy to pass because you have no hip movement. there is a reason no bjj world champions have ever used rubber guard.

  • @carlsongracieteam You Train At The Chicago Carlson Academy ? Ive heard stories about people who train there and that Everyone is Hostile to The Rubber Guard and Eddie Bravo In Particular....Look man im all about what WORKS. Shinya Aoki Uses the Rubberguard All The Time and So Has George Sotriopoulous and I Go Too A Lot Of Local Chicago MMA Events and Have Seen it myself. That being said, You want a Jiu Jitsu Idol ? I'd go With Roger Gracie Who uses the Basics of Jiu Jitsu to utterly dominate.

  • @carlsongracieteam

Getting to Adu Dahbi and Subbing Royler makes you a top grappler. You Seem to have hostility to Eddie the person and therefore hate his Work. Landing. You think talentless nobodies get to the ADCC ? Let me know when you get to the ADCC Buddy. You don't like the Rubber guard ? It's not for you ? it's all good but dont turn into some crazy Anti-Eddie Bravo Tirade.

  • @omar2000089 @omar2000089 once again showing how uneducated you are anyone can enter adcc you don't have to qualify for it just like anyone can enter worlds or naga or pan am. just the fee to enter abu dhabi is alot. but the winnings are worth it if you are good enough. there is adcc beginner, advanced, blue belt, purple belt, brown belt divisions. and actually i have competed in adcc in the juvenile blue belt dicision. i have nothing against eddie he just get way to much credit for a bad system

  • @carlsongracieteam once again i am dissapointed with ur statement. i won the bristish open 2011 brown belt division in the gi with an omoplata from the rubber guard. in fact mauricio gomes was shouting for me to use it once i pulled guard. in the semifinals i used the rubber guard to set up an omoplata eddie bravo style, the dude postured up and rolled, i held his hips for control and went with him i got the points for the sweep and getting side control then i taped him with a north south choke

  • @poganla123 post a vid of you fighting in british open, i know for a god damn fact you are lieing what is your name I am going to email rogers affiliate school down their. if a guy posture's up in an omoplata he would not roll through he would sit out, and i know for a fact that you don't know what your talking about.

  • @carlsongracieteam wow really, ur going to tell me that im lying, as a matter of fact i will post a video. the quater and semifinal match wasnt filmed but the finals was. i will also post a video of olli another brown belt with 4 stripes winning with the calf slicer from the truck. when the dude posture to defend omoplata i broke it down by putting my toes on his chest and separating from his body. this position is called perpendicular omoplata, i was gona attack the arm he panicked and rolled

  • @carlsongracieteam so dont say his system is a bad system

  • @omar2000089 you will never see a 10th planet guy be a black belt world champion and that is all the proof you will need. you will never see a mma world champion use the guard to finish a fight. and finally you will never see any one with any common sense use a twister side control because they know for every offensive move they make in it there are at least 3 counters...

  • @carlsongracieteam

I could care less about 10th Planet or Eddie Bravo. My point was and always will be that EDDIE IS A GREAT GRAPPLER. You're getting so defensive like somehow 10th planet is the Future and blah blah blah....I know how Retarded his followers are....Ive seen stupid comments like "Fuck that Helio Gracie Shit 10th Planet is way better" Anyone that knows anything about Jiu Jitsu Knows what works at high levels and knows what Doesnt.THE BASICS. Eddie Bravo is still a good Grappler

  • @omar2000089 eddie bravo is good bacause of his gi training with his blackbelt under the machado brothers. but this is the best way i can explain eddie bravo. just for a simple example im going to use basketball. eddie is like a college basket ball star and the rest of his black belt competitors are nba stars. everyone else that he would compete with is a level higher than him although he is good.

  • @carlsongracieteam

Exactly. Anyone that Doesn't train With A Gi Has Really Sloppy Sub Defense and Escapes. Even Brock Lesnar Trains With A Guy With Comprido....Catch Wrestlers try to claim him as one yet Brock Hired Rodrigo Comprido and Trains In A GI lol

  • @omar2000089 yeah i agree with you sorry was getting pretty defensive there just hate idiots who claim 10th planet is the best when they havent proved anything. but yeah i cant deny eddie bravo is a legit blackbelt it is under the machado brothers and they dont hand blackbelts out like other schools.

  • @carlsongracieteam

Don't worry about. Most of the 10th Planet Stuff Is Low Percentage anyway but Some of it Ok. I never got the Logic of going for The Twister When you can Get a RNC.

  • @omar2000089 you cant always get the RNC your not marcelo you kno and sometimes even he dont get it. getting the twister from the back is if you decide to abort because your opponet RNC defense is too good. always think two steps ahead of ur opponent

  • @omar2000089 I meant Trains With A GI With Comprido

  • @carlsongracieteam you sir DO NOT kno what ur talking about. ''you will never see a 10th planet world champion'' DENNY PROKOPOS 2 TIME no-gi mudials and naga arnold cup world champion. ''you will never see a mma champion use the guard to finish a fight'' anderson silva vs cheal sonnen the guard save his fucking ass and finally the most ignorant and ridiculous statement of all ''no one with common sense use twister side control'' roger gracie, lagato, mauricio gomes and I use it in the academy

  • @poganla123 bro for one i said no 10th planet guy is at the black belt level winning nogi mundials which is true denny was a brown belt. i said you will never see an mma champion finish a fight from the RUBBER GUARD. and i know for a god damn fact that not only does roger not use twister side control but he uses reverse scarf and that twister side control really isn't even used in gi. roger gracie does gi bjj.

  • @carlsongracieteam bro, i train at roger's academy, ive rolled with him and seen him role millions of times. he uses twister side control IN THE GI mostly to acquire the mounted position. i not saying he does the twister roll . he even shows us different technique to mount from twister side control. and yh ur right denny was a brownbelt but he did win naga at blackbelt. one really uses the rubber guard at a high level except aoki in mma other guys use it to get stand ups.

  • @carlsongracieteam ive seen some of your comments, i kno ur a smart that knows high level jiu jitsu at 16 thats very impressive. Even tho u dont like eddie's system you absolutely have to admit rubber guard its by far the best guard for mma. problem is most mma fighters are not flexible enough to use the rubber guard for a long time, like diego against guida he kept letting it go cause of flexibility issue. however aoki that very flexible uses it at the highest level, nakamura too.

  • @poganla123 not at all i just saw someone use rubber guard on bellator, turns out he got slammed on his head. if someone posture's up in the rubber guard, picks them up and slams them on their head then what? a high guard where your hands are occupied just isnt very smart in general. aoki fights cans dude. who was the last "real' dude aoki has fought he is a joke. and what if someone just keeps a strong posture and you can never get them in the rubber guard? then what? just avoid the guard.

  • @carlsongracieteam first of all when you get to the rubber guard and the dude is resisting you move to crackhead makes it much harder to stack and then trap his arm, once this is secured the dude is not going anywhere. a guy that know how to use the rubber guard very well will not get slammed on their head you have to slowly develop it and keep working on it just like for example the mount, when you first start ur mount will be weak eventually you keep developing then it turns to that of roger

  • @carlsongracieteam if you practise nogi you will know how easy it is to break dudes posture. with the gi its much harder. in nogi if the guy keeps good posture eventually he will try to pass once his doing that you can break him easily. in roger academy we practise nogi every fridays and im a relatively small guy but i still break guys twice my size posture quite easily in nogi but with the gi EXTREMELY difficult.

  • @carlsongracieteam and finally look at high level jiu jitsu guys in mma that get taken down by wrestlers and get pounded from inside their guard and lose decision. people are saying wrestling is the best for mma which i completely disagree with, is because with all that sweat and vasiline is hard to set up submissions from your guard, but from rubber guard the dude aint going nowhere hes wrapped up tight until you tap again you need to be good at it. you have develop it like a good mount.

  • @carlsongracieteam type in eddie bravo sorcerer and you will see what im talking about, im not sayin has the best system but you cant say its useless and its by far the best guard for mma and guys like lucio rodrigues agrees with me

  • @poganla123 The sorcerer is an absolute piece of shit move. If you even manage to get there, you should have tapped your opponent with something else long before.

  • Comment removed

  • @carlsongracieteam i disagree

  • @omar2000089 listen if you want to talk bjj we can talk what ever you want even 10th planet ive done my research i know what im talking about i wouldnt say a system was bad if i didnt know anything about it. we can talk mission control, new york, zombie, crackhead control zombie what ever 10th planet you want, or we can talk reall jj, de le riva guard, spider guard, turtle guard, 50/50 guard, quarter guard, turtle guard, anything, ive been in the game a while and im only 16 years old.

  • @omar2000089 no his stuff doesnt work lmao. when have you ever seen an mma fighter finish a fight from rubber guard? rubber guard is a stalling position at best just like 50/50 guard. not only that but it is extremely easy to pick someone up and slam them on there head when they are using rubber guard and theres plenty of videos to prove it. he is an elite grappler? he has beaten one top guy purely on luck. watch EDDIE VS LEO VIERA then tell me he is a top grappler...

  • @carlsongracieteam

While Leo did Beat Eddie, Leo Didn't sub him and Leo planned on winning by Points and advantage. At Least Eddie SUBBED ROYLER. Clearly you are not listening to me. The Rubber Guard Is better Suited for an MMA Fight Because you have a better chance of Stopping Punches. Would you rather have a closed guard and a strong wrestler dropping Bomb ass elbows on your head ? You can technically be Slammed from most guard positions. Theres no such thing as 100 %

  • @speedgliding

Well, no Eddie is famous for being a Inventor, and he is putting a system together with moves that all works no gi. he gets inspired from all the top competitors.. and he never claims 2 be the best or whatever...

And btw, Nino is probs one of the most entertaining grapplers ever!

  • @speedgliding he lost? look eddie isnt as good as nino no argument but people need to give him credit for tapping out royler when he was a brownbelt

  • @saberman41 Yes he LOST at that ADCC. He did not even place. Read what I wrote again carefully.

  • @speedgliding i was talking about his match with royler

  • @saberman41 My original quote was: " Eddie is famous for a single match in an ADCC he lost." You replied "he lost?" So my answer is still yes, he lost in that ADCC. He did not place.

  • @speedgliding agreed!

  • @speedgliding HATER!!!! Eddie is PIONEER of no-gi BJJ, get ur head out of the gracies ass for a minute and open your eyes.....you might actually SEE something!!

  • @KevinWood44 He's not a pioneer, he's a promoter. There's a difference.

  • @newazason A huge difference

  • @bjjartist Just so you do know, Nino is my favorite bjj competitor of all time and an old Humaita training partner of my sensei, Saulo Ribeiro. I wasn't implying that there wasn't a huge difference, but neither does Eddie Bravo. I just give Eddie respect for wanting to spread the gentle art, even if it is in his own "Special" way ;P

  • @KevinWood44 you do know eddie is practically a gracie right lol :Carlos Gracie Junior > Jean Jacques Machado > Eddie Bravo, and eddie isnt a pioneer of anything buddy! watch the Comprido Eddie bravo interview

  • @speedgliding <-----meant for him sorry

  • nino schembri is my 2nd cousin bitches!

  • the gogo is in judo as well

  • no no U wrong... that was perfect, because his nickname is "ELVIS"

    XD

  • ?? Elvis is the man!

You do know Nino is a big fan too..

  • awsome

  • Its too sad this kind of comparation, its impossible to compare Nino with Eddie Bravo, Eddio Bravo even compare to Nino.

Nino was much wiser and much more tecnic than Eddie Bravo...So you guys stop saying shit about this comparation, cause is uncomparable!

  • When Eddie was a blue belt Nino already was top competitor in CBJJ Mundial Black Belt Division :)

  • actually there its been said that nino was the originator of the rubber guard position. eddie bravo just went to town with it. and developed a whole system around it.

  • this makes me sad.

  • I heard that Nino has gone over to train with Eddie to exchange ideas. No you have the order backwards.

  • He's not doing rubber guard... He's throwing omaplatas from straight gaurd. Eddie created rubber gaurd... stop hating.

  • Alguem sabe pra quem que o Nino perdeu no ADCC pra nao ter sido campeao??

  • he's ne of the best in jiu jitsu..

  • nice editing and footage. nino and elvis are both legends :)

  • I really like the editing on this. What software did you use? Great highlight by the way!

  • nino is one bad ass mutha!!!

  • One of the most creatives bjj players i´ve ever seen...anybody knows the first song?

  • Elvis not deadmuthafuckers

    yeaah

    keep break up

  • Parabens Nino, voce eh o maior talento do Jiu Jitsu!

  • i dont like him he koed saku but his is good at bjj

  • Where can I find the instructional that is shown in this highlight?

The only part that I've seen is the gogoplata segment (which is awesome, for sure it was inspired by Elvis) that is on youtube.

  • You can buy Nino's instructional dvds at budovideos com

  • @ArmyOfZenMonkeys Why buy while you can download them off the internet for free =P

  • that's jiu jitsu!

  • this guy is sick dude. and badass hl thx a bunch.

  • o cara é foda...

  • WOW, i didn't know Elvis was a 10th degree red belt. He must have trained directly with Helio & Carlos, LOL

  • lmao at 3:59

  • ai nino tu vai ter q me da a coroa de rei do omoplata fera...to finalizando geral aqui bixo..rrsrss abçs

  • Wow I never appreciated Schembri til now. His pride exploits weren't that great and he KO'd my favorite fighter of all time with a knee...

  • Um dos jiu jitsus mais plásticos que há.

  • nice video. Nino the man

  • fuck eddie bravo

    Nino is where its at

  • I agree. Schembri was doing the Omoplata & Gogoplata when Eddie Bravo was still a white belt.

  • And your point? There is a ton of 10th Planet stuff that has been around. Most of Eddies innovation is in how you get there and how you maintain position. Everyone wants to bag on Eddie when most of what his detractors say are things he's said himself.

Nino is wicked sick in this video, glad to have heard about him.

  • Awesome HighlighT!!! My favorite So Far!!!! I love NINO Elvis

  • you are the man, nice nice highlight!!

  • Great compilation from one of the best and most entertaining fighters of all time!

  • I love the Gogo, if you have Nino"s videos teaching techniques will be great.

  • Man, nino is the shiznit. nice video.

  • o Mestre !

  • Zen kolejne super widio. Gratulacje

  • Vert nice. Bravo. I haven't seen this footage before.
