  • Ahh 240p..we meet again..

  • looks better than the real game

  • The first song is "Intro" Community Service II (album) by Crystal Method

  • What is the FIRST song, before High Roller?

  • Urgh. Watching another artist work is always unpleasantly intimidating. You are really good, it is just hard for me to watch.

  • ah yes, "painting"

the impeccable art of constructing a 2-d image from just tools on a computer.

i thought we dismissed this claim.

  • What the name of this panit technique?

  • You are a really talented artist, you have a good eye for color and light.

  • I wish I was a talented artist. :/ good job dude really nice!

  • im impressed both with this one an with the bob ross one you made.

just out of curiosity do you ever make humans(from reality) this way ever? if so id love if you'd upload it.

    take care.

  • Did you use screen layers?

  • Which brush do you use to make the skin and face paint of the turian rough?

  • You should use AD Inventor.

    3D ftw

    Great soundtracks too, btw.

    TY again.

  • Cool, but can you do a tutorial on one of the human females i see in your poftfolio

  • what program do you use, sketchbook pro, photoshop, gimp?

  • nice textures!

  • YOU HUMANS ARE ALL RACIST

  • Which Wacom is this?

  • When will you draw his mistress ?

  • Is that the, "Ah, yes, Reapers. We have dismissed that claim." guy?

  • @kisskisslovya Yup, I'm pretty sure that's Saren. :P

  • @SiraeaTruesomo Saren doesn't say that...and I wasn't talking about Saren, I was talking about the council dude.

  • How did you record this?

  • I'm not the 1st one to say this is pure awesomeness. When I saw the drawing on DA I thought it was a screenshot!

  • Was the aspect ratio changed from 4:3 to 16:9 or 16:10? It seems like his head is too wide/squashed compared to game appearance. Otherwise great paint and process.

  • Amazing work!

Quick question, you're using photoshop right? So what was that tool you used to bend the whole picture(or selected layer)?

    Again, amazing job.

  • amazing

  • whats the last song?

  • you are an amazing artist! keep up the great work! i want a cintiq so badly..... but i can;t afford it! damn tuition...

  • oops wrong video this one is awesome lol

  • that was pretty lame learn some lighting

  • looks like the thing under my bed

  • weird but awesome lol

  • they do hire guys this good

  • The second song is High Roller by The Crystal Method

  • i like it! i wish i could learn how to paint like that. oh well more practice for me

  • You are really talented. Great painting

  • HOLY...

  • Amazing.

  • whats the second song? and this came out really good!

  • Something about videos like this make it look far easier than it is. I always end up trying for a half hour on photoshop after watching things like this but it never ends well.

My failures aside this was awesome. Very nice.

  • gotta understand the form and volumes u are about to paint and how light behaves when hitting these volumes on different angles

  • why the red think....

  • really nice, awesum man. But I'd say his head is too broad. And... don't he has the iris too close to each other ?

  • i wish i had the money and investment. You should use more layers...

  • it was a speedpainting...

  • I would ask where to get this, but I can't paint!!!

  • hey men where did you get all those brushess?

    where i can find them?

    thanks>

  • The Internet !!!!!

  • Check out deviantart, there are plenty of brushes (for digital painting too).

  • what program are you using and how much is it? if it costs anything cause I do alot of paper and pen sketches and have always wanted to do are like this,

  • How the fuckm do people draw like this! How is it fucking possible! I can't highlights and shades to ever look properly!

  • did you turn the opacity and flow down on the brush your using? Thats how you get smooth blends without a soft edge brush. Just keep working on it. Start loose and do the shadows, then do the highlights and keep going back and forth between the two, refining them. After that you can add the specular highlghts if there needs to be any. Id also suggest doing a greyscale painting first, then putting 10% opacity layers over that one and painting the colors you want whats underneath to be on it.

  • man ur amazing....im just a copy cat artist...i cant do this stuff off memory

  • Thats what most art is though its taking an image, and drawing or painting it. And if your not copying your letting your creative juices flow wild.

  • don't put yerself down draw & draw & draw-passion is a great tool too-and do your stuff don't compare yourself to others lesser or better- dude follow yer own path you'll get there!

  • layers huh???? XD

  • Great work :) Would be nice if you show in your description what music you used ;)

It's been a while since I played ME so I don't recall all...

  • Holy S&^T thats crazy dude, i wish I could do that but i suk at drawing anything, i make stick figures look bad, great job though

  • digital painting is not as difficult as painting or drawing on paper just for the fact that you can have different layers, redo things etc in my opinion. It makes a world of difference. When it comes to painting, time is key. You don't have to have talent, just determination. It might take you longer to do great work if you don't have some sort of god given gift but give it some time and you will see that you can become just as good as the author of this video.

  • Thats wild bro. Nice.

  • high roller is such an awesome song i cant get enough of it i have always been a fan of the cystal method. great art too rahll this is my second time watching this video of you painting

  • amazing i cant believe how you just built it up from nothing. incrediable. also much love for the crystal method sound track. They and Pendulum are the best bands to listen to when playing Mass Effect

  • what song is this?

  • How did you do the trick in 0:39

    Thanks in advance !

  • that would be CTRL+T for transform, then right click, Warp ;)

  • thanks!

  • nice one dude you should pop up a tutorial would be interesting to see + would help a lot of ppl

  • Saren is it? Very nicely done.

Ever seen a female Turian? :S

  • amazing piece of art... just marvelous details!

  • It's xalener

    Friend req. sent.

  • i am at loss for words

    wow just wow

  • Wow that's amazing! Your real good i love this one and the Alien vs Halo 1 Those are incredible

  • 2 words...

    Frikkin' sweet.

Really nice use of textured brushes, thar.

  • how much time it takes to learn to paint like that???

  • *chin droops* :O HOly shit!!! AMAZING

  • Seriously amazing!

  • you fucking amazing

  • Awesome 10 out of 10 man

  • So, yeah, that was badass.... Not only was that amazing to watch you also added freaking cool ass music too. It was like my brain just got owned. Very nice work.

  • At 3:03 you used a distorting tool on the emblem on his forehead.....what application is that PS CS3 or Painter ?

  • I think that was a free transform, warp or something I can't remember exactly what it is called at the moment. (I could be wrong though)

  • Photoshop (presummably CS3, yes)

    Warp tool:

    Edit->Transform->Warp

  • thats the warptool on photoshop cs2-cs3. It can be accessed via the free transform options

  • wow, that kicked so much ass. awesome job!

I tried looking up that first song by Crystal Method but I cant find it...What album is it in?

  • It's me - Azley from deviantArt.

    Very impressive video, mate!

Such great structures and as always: amazing work! :+fav: 5/5

  • I'm decent at drawing, how much different is using the wacom tablet?

is it easier to draw, hard to use, etc.

It seems like using the tablet can allow one to do much more than they would normally be able to.

  • It is extremely different if you use a normal Wacom, because you can't look at your hand while you're drawing. It's far easier in the long run than learning how to draw manually. Also, you can't smudge, and for some reason, when I use my tablet I erase a lot less.

  • Thats really cool. I hope to someday do that, but i dont have a tablet yet, but hopefully i will get one for my birthday! You have inspired me to try harder and harder! Thanks and keep up the good work!

    ~Sarah

  • Thats amazing, still cant believe its a speedpaint.

  • Woah, did you use a mouse to paint this?

  • I use a Wacom tablet, a digital drawing/painting pad.

  • you sir are amazing.

i'm gonna go watch you now

  • is*

  • wow... thats amazing! nice job

  • It's called following a reference picture.

  • Hahaha you said it bro =D

  • Wow...Thats Great! Looks Just Like a Turian. Your good at this. :):):):):)

  • great job. I wanna be that good one day and now that I have a tablet I can get to practice. keep up the amazing work. :)

  • turians look so kickass. you win at life

  • DAMN......b.a. man b.a.

  • Excellent work DeviantRahll. You make it look easy. Well done.

  • Wow that looks hard to do how could you do that in 90 mins? I wish I could do this but im not a great drawer as i have already said :(

  • Dude, that awesome! Keep up the good work.

  • Hey Brah! too bad you disabled comment on your transmorphers, I really wanted to ream that twat out. Oh well. Hopefully see you Monday...if my truck runs by then.

  • amazing! best one ive seen yet!

  • you need to do one of seran hes cool

  • ok dude

    u are amazing

and that pic u haft to send me that ^^ plox ?

  • Go to my deviantart address, the picture is up at a decent resolution there.

  • Damn. That is incredible. I wish I had your talent and patience. Hope you got to play the game. I did and loved every minute of it, but I am a huge Bioware fanboy. Anything they make I'll buy. You can blame Baldur's Gate.

Maybe that could be another one of your projects. A drawing of Sarevok

  • What type of program did you use for this?

  • All in Photoshop.

  • that's pretty amazing, dude

  • Looks good!

Say, mind telling where you painters get those custom brushes?

  • You can download them from various places, but I usually make my own. The brushes you can download never quite do the exact job you need them to.

  • Fascinating! You've definitely got some talent my man. That's why you're an art major and I'm just a humble historian.

Btw: What was the music in your vid? Particularly the one with all the Apollo transmissions?

  • Haha, thanks bud :D

The second song is called High Roller by Crystal Method.

  • Were you always a good drawer,or did you learn and do you use a one of those sketchpad things or the mouse to draw. I want to be able to do this but im not good at drawing :S which is a problem

    Keep up the awesome work

  • I've been drawing since I was pretty young, but it's only been in the past two years that its really become a passion. I'm in art school currently. And yes, I use a Wacom Intuos3 6x8 tablet. Doing stuff like this with a mouse is almost impossible.

  • okay, thanks. Ill check some stuff out

  • ??????

  • very nice work. Keep it up!

  • I bow to your artistic mastery!!!!

  • Can you please tell me what all programs you used

  • Photoshop to paint it, Camtasia Studio to record it.

  • Okay thanks you have inspired me :P

  • nice job!!!

  • holy. crap.

    lol that is amazing.

you have no life. and i worship you because of that. =P

yeah, guys, if you really wanna know he was using 'adobe paintshop pro CS3 extended'

it costs 30 quid from the adobe website, or you can try a 30- day trial thingy.

it is very hard to use, but amazing when you're good at it. it is compatable with like everything

  • How do I have no life? Art IS my life, I'm going to school for it and I get paid for it.

  • fair enough, i wasn't being tight or anything, i'm congratulating you, you are abviously amazing, i'd pay you for that sort of thing. good job.

  • Haha, no worries, I was just slightly confused.

  • u get paid for going to school? WTF?

  • Haha, no. I get paid for doing artwork occasionally for private parties.

  • i believe he was a life otherwise he wont be able to make this painting DICKHEAD...

  • Holy shit, if there is a word better than perfect, I would use it to describe your painting.

    Wow....Amazing..

  • What program are you using? BTW you're amazing 5 stars!!!

  • Holy shit, dude. 5*s.

  • Incredible.

  • When I saw this I thought you actually were one of the artists who worked on it..

  • I am indeed a superhero.

  • i cant even do a car on the computer that was amazing i want that as a theme for the 360

  • nice drawing but what do you mean "mass effect"?

  • Mass effect is a RPG game coming out to Xbox360 next month. My candidate for Game of the year btw.

look it up on youtube or masseffect*bioware*com

  • WOW!!! AWESOME

  • Great Work, but ther'are beautiful musics! Titles and artists?? Thank's :D

  • i wish i could do that too :D:D nice work

  • so many brushes. thats the first time i've seen several being used and not just the one brush. what were those grids? is that the free transform for cs3?

  • I always use my custom brushes. The grid is the warp transform tool... It's also in CS2, but before that, I'm not sure.

  • ah yeah i just found it! cool

  • glad I found you at devart. inspiring quickpaint. what music is that ? it sounds like it is boosting your work :) at least I want to draw now like creazy sincerelly - surthur. deviantart . com

  • that was absolutley amazing best computer painting ive ever seen 5 star!!

  • nice job man! What tool did you use at 00.38? You work in Illustrator right?

  • This is actually Photoshop. At :38 I used the transform tool Warp.

  • Take it that isn't in Photoshop 7.0? Btw, you inspire me to try harder in details and get better.

  • CS3 actually. Glad to be of inspiration!

  • cool.. The GIMP could really use that tool

  • wow that was really good. awesome

  • Very nice work man. I love seeing stuff like this. I always have a great appreciation for things that I know are beyond my skill to do.

  • Thanks bud, I appreciate it. You go by the same name on dA, correct? You don't post as much as you used to, I miss seeing your stuff in my message box :D

  • Yeah, same name. I know....I need to post more...life's been hectic. I shall someday soon.

  • Dude, holy crap! This is awesome! Good job!

  • What's the songs names you're using here?

  • The first one is called Intro by Crystal Method, and the second one is called High Roller, also by Crystal Method.

  • Hey bud which tool were you using at 01:03? or how did you make the those spots brighter? and where do you get your brushes from? I noticed you have a lot of them I only have the few default ones that come with the PS lol :)

  • At 1:03, I used the selection tool to isolate areas and then set the brush mode to Color Dodge. I have a library of custom brushes I've made myself or that I've gotten from various places. For a good tutorial on making your own, check out Vyle's Gnomon Workshop DVD.

  • Nice work, I hope the people at Bioware see this!

  • I posted on the Bioware forums, a couple of employees commented :D Cool stuff.

  • damn, that was good. especially since it was mass effect art. :p

  • You sir, have mad phat skillz.

  • oh yeah, very nice video and painting!

  • how do you make these.

    i want to have a go,hopefully!

  • Photoshop, a tablet, and Camtasia studio are all you need! Oh... and the ability to paint, hehe.

  • i did one better then that in five min but......i lost it

  • Great stuff! How many layers did you end up with?

  • The final consisted of two layers. The background and the alien. During the painting, I usually had no more than 4 at any given time.

  • that is amazing man... i wish i had some creative talent :(

  • Is that Photoshop?

what are you doing on 03:05?

  • Yep, it's Photoshop. At 3:05, I'm using the transform tool 'Warp' to readjust the shaping instead of repainting.

  • Yep yep, awsome show as always. Keep them coming, Reid.

Quick Question. How did you give your Text (the URL) a transparent background? I can't get it without making it a Flash Hotspot. >_<
