@TheJonnykane In comparison I'd say the Howa is lighter and more comfortable to shoot than the M14, but there's still major differences the M14 isn't a bolt gun period, youd have a tactical advantage of being able to fight your way out of an area with the M14, a bolt gun in close combat would be almost suicide. But if youre just concerned with carrying your rifle over distance then making a long range shot I'd grab the Howa
Can't believe you still have this video up considering that deuch bag is in it. No need to speak her, ops, I mean his name. You know who I'm talking about. Be easy bro.
@jistaguy45 I keep it there simply because even in this, he makes a total ass of himself with that silly squat style crosslegged shooting style, lol. The rifle he was using cost more than 5 times what the Howa did and he couldnt hit a damn thing with it.
@SERIAM2008 So then I shot it off a bag and I was hitting the target every time at 600 yds. Im going to be changing stocks and putting a light barrel on the axiom.
I would imagine this to be an affordable alternative to the M24 sniper rifle that the JGSDF is replacing the Howa Type 64 with as a designated marksman rifle.
@SERIAM2008 when I first went to the gun store to pick my rifle up, the guy told me your best to shoot it off a bag not a bi pod. I looked at him in dismay grabbed my rifle and left the store.
out at a mates farm I was setting the rifle up for 600 yds and it was then that I noticed the twist using bi pod, the foregrip is to low and the barrel is top heavy so any slight movement setting up the shot you get twist, then taking the shot the rifle jumps around that much it a waste of time. misses
@1Dukecronic WHat the hell are you doing to make the foregrip twist? It's a rock solid piece of material, how could you possibly provide that kind of torque on the stock and still manage to pull off any kind of accuracy when you're shooting at all? if youre shooting prone all the force should be directed at your shoulder. If you have sideways force at the foregrip your body position is totally wrong.
remington 700's are produced for cheaper or the same, most guys who swear by the action dont use the barrel for long range, they rebarrel it in 5R and that is good, as is a howa with a 5R barrel, the actions are both extremely stabe, but as a Howa owner i belive remington has the edge on SOME of their 1000+ dollar guns. but the 500 dollar standard barrel remington compared to the 550 dollar howa, with upgraded stock, and free good glass from factory has the edge.
@ThePacker92 I don't know why you would think it would be weak in any way. Unless you're judging it by the appearance as it has a very pronounced free floated design. It's solid as a rock, no flex at all. Try sliding a dollar bill up the barrel on other rifles, even the ones that appear to support to touch the barrel all the way to the end usually will not. What Axiom did was eliminate the excess material. That option usually isn't possible with laminated wood stocks because it would weaken it.
right on ,,,i usually use 155 grain .308 lapua tried a bunch of diferent stuff..thought the winchester balistic carbon tip would be good stuff but the lapua is way better and the 155 grain you can't buy..plus they want $65.00 for 20 rounds of winchester which is frigg'in retarded...I got this guy down the road here he is an ex british military sniper that makes it for me...and only charges 80cents a bullet and cheaper if i give him the brass...where are they going to be using the SA58's ?
by the way you can't buy them in canada anymore another crazy bullshit gun reg..they put though .....they won't let that gun cross the border anymore.....and up here in canada you pay about $1400.00 for it...anyway ya made some nice shots ...what are you using for ammo..? and what would you consider the best rifle out there is?
well you learn somthing every day i guess howa does use rem 700's on there guns and u say its a crap gun it shoots pretty fuck'in good for me ...longe range shots like you just made with it....with glass on it like i have i could def ...make some long shots and i have.....now ill have to get those vids on to show you....like a deer kill at 883 yards away....but ya your right must be a piece of shit gun to be able to do that...by the way im 40 not 18 .....Piss and vinegar seem to be your fortier.
@karmanical We were actually doing a weapon evaluation for DSArms testing 3 of their US built FAL SA58 rifles. The ammo was ordinary Russian surplus. Bottom of the barrel in other words as a rifle torture test. I put some through the Howa for curiousity sake and it performed excellent. Best rifle? As in production rifles? Bolt action or semi?
@karmanical Never said it was a crap gun. I was truly impressed with it's performance. I said it was a low priced production rifle, not a custom build. Best shooting low end production rifle I ever had the privelage of firing even.
kewl vid man I have a howa axiom 1500 on a rem 700 plat. chamber .308 with a Leupold mark 4, 6.5x20x50 m1 illum. on it i found with the 1 to 12 twist the best ammo is a 155 grain shot.. I love the gun ...
@karmanical Really? That's strange. Never heard of Howa using any Rem700 actions on their guns. EVER. Howa isn't a custom rifle builder. They build production guns. And why put a $2000 piece of glass on a $900 rifle?
picking up the howa in .308 after much research. i carried the m14 for a while and was wondering if you could compare the two? thanks. great video

I have a heavy barrel on a axiom stock, when i use a bi pod i get the fore grip twisting. I find it to shoot better off a bag then the bi pod.
I guess I believed the hype on this stock and now regret it.

do you have a problem with the stock flexing when using a bipod?? seems to be weak and was thinking about milling a plate to stiffin the foregrip up

@ThePacker92 no it doesnt.
