@DenisLD Tried the double chocolate yet? If you think the regular Rogue chocolate is bad ass you aint seen nothin' yet! Picture an excellent chocolate stout brewed with hershey syrup as the malt! It is something to behold and ridiculously delicious! I only make black and tans with it cause it's such a monstrous chocolate stout. It makes unreal black and tans, I've been getting it on growler for the past two weeks and whipin it together with Dogfish 90 min. MMMmmmm MMMM!
@DenisLD Yeah I'm sure it's gourmet chocolate malts and such, the first thing that comes to mind though when you have the first drink is chocolate syrup. It's very rich and very chocolatey but definitely tastier and superior to hersheys.
Great review! I liked this one alot, but i was slightly dissapointed acutually. Im going to be reviewing the Southern Tier Choklat, which is hear is awsome! The Youngs Double Chocolate is also really good, especially from tap. Btw are you going to be traveling around Europe the summer? Cheers!
@TheMasterOfHoppets Ironically, they've just started selling Young's Double Chocolate here in Montreal... I'll defo try to get the Choklat someday as well. I won't be travelling around per se, for I'm just going to Russia for 2 months. But I'm also going to Ukraine and will probably spend a day in Amsterdam on my way back.
Im not a huge fan of this beer. There are many many better representations of the chocolate stout. Choklat from Southern Tier sets the bar but Youngs 2x is very good from the tap! Nice review. I was going to review this one but just ended up drinking it one night...oh well
I really liked this beer. I didn't get much of a milk chocolate on the nose but more of a semi-sweet to slightly bitter chocolate. To me it was like a "liquid dessert" very tasty. I'll be drinking more of it as we head into Fall for sure!
I'll be watching your Hefe review. I'm hoping to pick up 1 or 2 myself to review.
about time you reviewed this, I was wondering when you would.
The only reason the flavor might not have been top notch might've been because you had it in storage for two months and this isn't the kind of beer you want to age.
If you ever get Young's Double Chocolate on tap it's amazing how much better it is than the bottle and can!
Any other beers from me you'll be reviewing soon or was this the last one?
@Chad9976 I just haven't had the time for reviewing many beers, and I still have plenty to review :s Most will have to wait until September, unfortunately +\ The last one from you is the ST Oaked Unearthly, I'll see if I can review it before I leave... Cheers!
This beer was a disapointment to me. I like stouts that have really big body, that to me was watery and over carbonated. Southern tier choklat is much better.
@TheHammer609 I'm surprised. Every Rogue beer I've had has been really good. Many are mind-blowing. Maybe you have a slooooow distributor or maybe your beer store doesn't handle them properly? I've liked everything I've had from them.
@Chad9976 I need to try rogue imperial stouts. I like stouts with a abv of 9 or more. I don't care for roasty or chocolatey high carbonated watery beers.
@TheHammer609 I agree with you on the price. They are way overpriced for what you are getting. There are a ton of beers for each style that Rogue makes that are cheaper and of better quality. Although I do love me a Dead Guy Ale every once in a while. But their XS series beers are way over priced and I love that they now make a 7oz version of them, what a ripoff.
Damn are you even old enough to drink? LOL

@fatsachs Yes, old enough to drink and old enough to think.

@fatsachs Mm, that does sound delicious! I haven't gotten a chance to try the Double Chocolate yet, but I'll get it if I ever see it.
Don't they use some imported kind of chocolate for it, though? Hershey just doesn't sound very appealing to me, sorry. +P

@DenisLD was it the oak aged? I thought it was the regular. Be careful, that's an 11% ABV beer!

@TheHammer609 I see where you're coming from. I myself am a bigger fan of milk stouts and imperial stouts, with more body and sweetness. Cheers!

@TheHammer609 Shakespeare stout isn't much better then the chocolate stout. I won't even buy rogue beers anymore, its not worth the money.
