  • I thought it was Kitchen´s Eraserhead

  • We're late! I mean look at the clock! 7:35! 17 minutes! 45, 55 minus 3 is 52! The thing would be done 8 minutes from now! Is thirty-five... forty-three! At forty-three.......

...we're gonna put this broccoli in there.

  • i want to be david lynch when i grow up

  • never before has there been a more dramatic cliffhanger:

"and I'll pick up this story... after we enter the broccoli"

  • "i'm just thinking of all those little quinoas simmering in the pan"... new movie?

  • Lynch's Kitchen = Adam Kesher's Kitchen = Mulholland Dr.

  • David Lynch must save a bunch on his electricity bill. His lights are never on.

  • fresh, nice fresh water

  • "I'm gonna open that drawer right here, and get.......... a little knife" lol, don't know why I find that so funny

  • I never heard of quinoa before watching this on the INLAND EMPIRE DVD, now it's one of my favorite grains. My wife came in the room while I was watching this and just said, "He's such a weirdo." Yes, maybe, but he's got great taste in side dishes!

  • this is awesome

  • David Lynch IS the center of the universe.

  • What I can't figure out is why in the hell Lynch's PA is sourcing his produce from fucking Trader Joe's of all places. Pre-packaged broccoli in a sealed bag? Wow.

  • An inch of water?lol brilliant! I wish this was an actual cooking series on tv.

  • Mmm yeah, measure that water in inches!

  • I remember watching this on the Inland Empire bonus disc and being totally confused. Thusly, I love this video =D!

  • measure water in inches

  • THE CLOCK SAYS SEVEN THIRTY-FOUR.

  • @thomaskantor nah- ah. it says 7:35... lol. u made me look... u made me look..... i looked like 4 times!

  • If he lives in LA that water isn't nice or fresh.

  • G E N I U S !!!

  • Yum...sugar water!!

  • @limosine I got confused and made the recipe using sugar water. :(

  • TO BUY SOME TIME YOU HAVE SOME WINE

  • This makes no sense. I don't understand what happens at the end.

  • Good God how tediously asinine.

  • organic broccoli in a bag makes me sad

  • This is what you do when you are making quinoa.

To buy some time, you have some wine.

  • No matter where he goes or what he does, David Lynch is always beautifully lit.

  • Lynch+Quinoa = Magic

  • Hes got a really nice house.

  • This dude remind me of my aunt.

  • This will be a great addition to the menu in our house. betterbody/Pat Anthony

  • Quinoa is heated and loved by D. Lynch

Sprouted by others it grows past an inch

    Dave, please try it raw

    It won’t break your jaw

The choice to be made is an obvious cinch

  • it's a POT david lynch.

  • @sako36 Dear sako36, Mr. Lynch committed no error in calling his "pot" a "pan." Margo Upson in her well-written article about differentiating a "pot" from a "pan" on wisegeek.com/what-is-the-difference-between-a-pot-and-a-pan says the following, "...a pot can be correctly called a pan, but a pan cannot be correctly called a pot."

  • quite possibly the most surreal film David has ever made.

  • what music is in background? it sounds like a looped section from ghost of love?

  • better for you than creamed corn...

  • get some nice fresh water from the sink, and turn on the flame, its a nice hot flame too.

  • I want david lynch to teach me how to cook all my meals

  • This was awesome.

What next? Lars von Trier sautees kale?

  • Had quinoa for he first time tonight, what was I doing eating rice all this time?

  • During the European conquest of South America quinoa was forbidden by the Spanish colonists as "Indian food". It was forbidden because of its importance within indigenous non-Christian ceremonies. The conquistadors actually forbid quinoa cultivation for a time and the Incas were forced to grow corn instead. Me personally, I will eat ANYTHING that was once scorned by the bloodthirsty Christians, knowing that it is just plain stupid superstition. I'm certain this is why Mr. Lynch eats it.

  • I love how at the begining hes pritty chill, all with his brocoli and fresh water for later. then he puts the quinoa in the pot and he like 'holy shit HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT!" and hes rushing around trying to get shit in the pot and pre-prepaired and then...then he has time to spare and then gets like a child on christmas eve.

everything is an adventure for him.

  • fantastic

  • Does anyone know the name of the music playing in the background in the beginning?

  • This is a brilliantly executed take, I am convinced it's one take, and I actually make this all the time. It's wonderful unemployment food. $2.99/lb at Whole Foods, but since it's in the bulk section, just write down the code for Millet and it's 99 cents a pound! I can't believe he uses sea salt, when there should be plenty in the bouillon and liquid aminos. I just tried making it without rinsing for the first time, and you know what? It tastes great!

  • Genius, it brought tears of laughter to my eyes. Thank you for this

  • so fascinating to watch his process. I would have dinner with him if he cooked. lol

  • i just bought some quinoa today and was hoping david lynch might have an instructional video on youtube on this very subject.

  • lol

  • @tasha122277 --every time i read your comment i laugh. yes, out loud.

  • @dullath The day has finally come when my hours and hours spent posting one liners on youtube has paid off-and in a really big way. Thanks dullath. Stay tuned.

  • @tasha122277 your comment still cracks me up. is it wrong to be watching this AGAIN????

  • just booootiful

  • david lynch rules

  • What the hell is Quinoa?

  • a grain-like crop grown primarily for its edible seeds.

  • he reminds me my great grandfather...

  • "...to open the refrigerator I use the handle. I grab it with my left hand, like this, and then I use a downward pulling motion --not too hard..."

    odd, adorable... all these things.

  • I could sit and listen to this man just talk or better yet, tell a story all day long. I favorited this video partly because of David's voice.

  • remember to use fresh water. do not accidentally use your salt water tap.

  • Hilarious! You got a good laugh out of me today!

    Thanks!

  • The best part of this is his story. He's a great storyteller.

  • After watching this, I think David Lynch should have his own cooking show on the Food Network.

  • ok, i'm gonna go and make quinoa myself now :]

  • Love that he cooks in his smart suit. He probably wears it in bed. Love him, love his films

  • I love quinoa. This is an interesting vudeo, how it is filmed.

  • is this filmed in his house?

  • This video is so painful, and depressing to watch! Watching it strains my eyes, why does this man cook in the dark?

His fans should send him kitchen mittens as a gift for Xmas.

  • I would watch cooking shows if David Lynch did them in this style.

  • This is just sitting, taking a smoke, thinking of all those little quinoas bubbling away in that pan.

And were looking at about two minutes more before we add the broccoli

  • Take that Rachel Ray!

  • While you're at Target, maybe you could pick up a pot holder. I'm sure you also buy your paper towels at Whole Foods, but washable pot holders are more environmentally friendly. Thank you for your movies.

    p.s. I love quinoa also.

  • Oh David Lynch, will you never learn? Get a $15 Rival rice cooker from Target; it even comes with a steaming basket for your broccoli. Just think how many more films you could make if you streamlined your quinoa-cooking process.

Quinoa is also useful at breakfast: quinoa plus cinnamon plus fruit of some kind (such as raisins, berries, or cherries) is like rocket fuel.

  • This is really eerie! I've been a David Lynch fan for about 18 years, since I was 12,and I've been a regular user and big proponent of quinoa for the past 4 years. Never, until today, would I have guessed that my passion for this noble grain intersect with my passion for David Lynch's fine films. It's as if my life has come full circle.

  • @horushound haha I felt the same way about the intersection... all except for the bouillon cube :)

  • @horushound

All those moments will be lost, like tears in the rain. Time to die...

  • I rented the DVD and watched every extra feature and this was/is by far the most bizarre documentary I've ever witnessed!

  • I love this guy!
