  • One thing this show often did was try and confuse the panel by having female contestants with traditional "men's" jobs. You'd think the panel would be wise to this trick.

  • Why's he always asking if the woman guests are Ms. or Mrs.?

  • @MyJk552 so the panel knows how to address them

  • Dorothy died later that night.

  • she got them

  • Just great to see Bobby Darin!

  • Bobby Darin was David Bowie before there was a Bowie. What I mean by that is that he was the first true pop music chameleon. He did rock, standards and even folk.

  • Bobby Darin had rheumatic fever as a child; it permanently damaged his heart. His doctors predicted that he would not live past his teens. He was an amazing guy: genius-level IQ, brilliant singer, songwriter, mimic, actor . . . You name it and Bobby could excel at it.

  • My heavens, the usually articulate Arlene certainly stumbles over her intro of Bobby, doesn't she? She also says frund instead of fund. John gives away his British heritage at 2:01 with "vedy".

  • Was there any pattern to whether Arlene or Dorothy would be on the left of the panel? Did it change by season, or randomally? I only remember Bennett on the right.

  • The panel had no clue on this one, ty for posting

  • 0:30 -- Bobby Darin died young of heart disease, thus his interest in promoting the heart fund.

Darrin appears here in the landmark Durante appearance. The year before on the night that the Beatles appeared live on Ed Sullivan's variety show, Darrin, Johnny Mercer and Jane Fonda appeared live on WML, all WML clips available on YouTubia.

  • Available on YouTube -- the mystery guest for this broadcast: an absolute knock-out landmark appearance by Jimmy Durante

What's my Line? NorbertR33 Jimmy Durante

  • Dorothy looks fab! What date did this air?

  • live broadcast 31 Jan 1965. Dorothy did not miss a show in 1964. In 1965 before her sudden death that November, she missed 6 broadcasts and 3 taping sessions in spring 1965 when hospitalizations for a broken collarbone sidelined her.
