When the Qing dynasty collapsed there were less than 500 Manchu troops in Tibet and they played no role in governing the country from day to day. In 1950, 40, 000 PLA troops invaded. Currently there are well over 100, 000 PLA troops in Tibet plus, PSB and PAP.
