I don't know any american i've met except me and maybe two other guys and one who is Brazilian thats been there. Most people wouldn't even bother going down there they'd much rather stay in the states where its safe. Well if you say ALL of Brazil, that is different than the focus was on Sao Paulo, where there is not even 1mil rich. Strictly following the lines of rich and poor, excluding the lower and higher ends of the spectrum, the numbers still are higher for the poor in Sao paulo than in the US.11% poverty rate is for ALL of the US.

For all Brazil the poor population is around 20 %. By regions, for example there are many poor people in the north and northeast region, but in the southeast and south region the poor population is very little.

I was also trying to say that as a tourist, I am not not put off by poor people as much as I am by crime. People associate crime with Brazil more than the poverty. The dramatic increases in security needs to be talked about.

It is the business capital of Latin America, but it still has a huge population of poor people. I have seen the favelas that surround the airport and rich area of murumbi, as far as the eye can see and the homeless families on the streets of jardim. The poverty in Sao paulo is crushing compared to anything in the US. I never finish a meal, because I save my leftovers for the street kids. I have seen homes where the maids are locked in by the owners. I have seen first hand, not on tv.

An so is poverty very visible in Rio,Salvador and Sao Paulo. I'm not saying poverty doesn't exist in the major cities but when i'm seeing tin shacks along mountain sides and all throughout your cities you can't be serious to sit here and speak this bullshit like it doesn't exist. Wow you are a stupid fucking idiot if you believe that. Manhanttan has everything in it and although i'm not a fan of big cities its way better then anything in Brazil by far.

Actually, I think Manhattan sucks... specially for their people. Terrible.
São Paulo has everything in it and it's much better place, IMO. Even some newyorkers I've met found that. ;)

I'm not a fan of Manhattan and i think Sao Paulo really sucks. good cities i like are Seattle and Orlando and Miami and Chicago and Portland and Jacksonsville and Denver. Nice cities that thousands of foreigners come to visit. Hey my friend let me ask you. If Brazil's cities were so beautiful then why aren't you guys ranked in the top ten? hell the top 20? and why is the US ranked 3rd most visited. You are mental !! There is great poverty in the US. but it is nothing like Sao Paulo. Even Paulistians admit that. Even in these economic times, it is not like SP. My point is not to put down Brazil at all, but to say yes, the poverty is crushing. I have lived all over the world and few places are this bad. It is an problem that there is no magic solution for.You mistake people talking about the poverty for insults. That is not what most folks mean.They are commenting on the video.
