  • And oh how they danced..the little children of Stonehenge, Beneath the haunted moon. For fear that daybreak might come....too soon.

  • Spot light operator is doing an excellent job. Your an asset to your local union friend.

  • @monmixer : Unions are DONE. Ron Paul in 2012. Do your job, take the money you signed on for and GO HOME.

  • He reminds me of Eddie Van Halen performing " Eruption ".

  • 1981.....A wonderful moment in time.

  • I knew there was a good reason this was one of my favorite songs on the album. It is because the lead guitarist is in control. It rocks harder than other songs. A change in voice is refreshing also.

  • It's kinda funny. There are different guitarists and there are different genres that these guitarists thrive in. But it seems everybody has a little Hendrix in them.

  • sure holds that Strat lower than most do

  • OMG Michelle Obama's pregnant..thany you kate middleton

    mayday

  • This song never really seemed to fit in with Dennis's ballads.Tommy and JY always wanted to rock, and dennis wrote all the ballads.

  • too much talent

  • JY is a Jimi Hendrix wantabe

  • great stuff

  • James Young standing up there in his white suit, and singing the way he does, reminds me of Steve Martin. lol

  • STYX---"MISS AMERICA" CAPITAL CENTER

  • Watched them last night on Urban Dead, man they were awesome! ;) All Wulve put your hands up in the air!

  • young's voice was the animal! just like his gitar, mid range graval! The rest were Psam-doved twits.

  • This is the least gay song styx has ever written, it actually has som gonads.

  • Jesus, i used to think these tards were cool. Nice shoulder pads, Poodles. And maybe your parents objected to your guitar playing because they were embarrassed to have sired such a jackoff dime store Hendrix wannabe poofdah.

  • JY is chewbacca

  • sweet solo!

  • Is this the guy from Just Shoot Me?

  • @MarcusCMarcellus You are thinking of david spade no the other guitarist here is tommy shaw. The person singing and playing is James Young

  • Hey, DeYoung! Stop arguing with STYX and get the f' back together with them!!!

  • @PhilistineTheArtLuvr idk if that'll ever happen, ive seen styx without young and it was alright, and i saw deyoung by himself and i can honestly say that he was 100 times better

  • they sure don't have much clothes sense

  • This is so cool. Styx in their heyday. I love it!!

  • this is like that scene is spinal tap

  • Wow, so great. Styx were, and are, so fresh, feel-good music, stage presence, banter, audience involvement. I got a few of their albums in the late 1970s. The opening here by JY ,has essences of Free Form Guitar, by the incomparable Terry Kath. I just like Styx so much.

  • JY is one of the best. No mistake!

  • JY channeling Jimi!

  • Styx's Grand Illusion is my second favorite album of all time right behind Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here!

  • Oh yeah. I forgot to include the ticket price, $9.90... tax included! Damn!

  • I was at this concert, front and center! I still have the ticket stub: MON APR 13.1981.

It was general admission and I pushed my groups way to the front during the opening act. Then they announced they were going to film the concert so some guy let me sit on his shoulders for most of the concert so we might be seen. The crowd was pushing forward so hard you could lift your feet and not fall! Styx was a kick ass good show and truly delivered on all fronts. Thanks for posting!

  • damn like hendrix & halen went gay & had a baby

  • Eddie Van James Young!

  • Eddie Van who???

  • superbe!!!!!!!!!!

    Erwin

    Belgium

  • I`m waiting for his parents to come out and tell him to turn that shite down.

  • thanks for posting their best stuff. Classic.

  • That's the point. it's called relating to the audience, silly.

  • @Trashed20659 being silly?

  • Jy is coked up!

  • Oops, I meant to write CP, not JP...

Chuck has not aged nor changed a bit.

  • Question for true JY fans only : Take DDY, TS, JP, they aged, but they still have the same attitude, the same expressions. I cannot find the Styx 81 videos JY in the other videos. I wouldn't have known JY could be sexy, beautiful, exciting, expressive, extraverted, 1000 volts radiant and fun to look at if I had not watched this. In older videos, he doesn't smile the same, doesn't move that way on stage, he doesn't even hold his guitar the same way ! Does anybody know what happened to him ?

  • I saw Styx countless times in, like, '78 & '79. Nassau Collesium, Long Island.

  • JY looks like a pipe smoker

  • JY has a degree in Aeronautical Engineering!

  • I just love the way JY and Tommy Shaw hang with each other like brothers.

  • That is a HORRIBLE thing to say. Both of them are happily married to women. I think they just enjoy each other's company.

  • Being gay is horrible? Tell that to the bass player...

  • If you can't say something nice, then don't say nothing at all.

  • The big shoulder pads are so 80s. He looks just like Joan Collins.

  • @bearmare

That's nothing. Tommy Shaw turned into Cheryl Tiegs!!

  • I can watch it over and over Again

    its that Awsome!!!

  • JY's a pisser....

  • what did you say?

  • JY's a funny guy. That's what pisser means.

  • I guess it took it the worng way!!

  • S'ok. Just a bit of New York slang.

  • ah I get you now!!

  • That was my first show - Cap center. I think April Wine opened - thanks for posting.

  • I love JY's shoulder pads

  • This was my first concert ever as well! Do you remember the weather that day? It was Oct. 10, 1981, and it snowed an inch!

  • Sorry but I think it was April. April 14 1981. I still have my April 15th ticket stub...

  • James Young is such an underrated guitarist.

  • yes totally agree

  • definitely agree. he's my neighbor. nicest guy alive. played guitar for me :)

  • Are you serious?! He's your NEIGHBOR!?!?

  • @ORegan77 not in my heart

  • Damn, Rock and Roll is great ! USA!

  • rock on J.Y.

  • This was my first concert..

Styx and the Cars. I remember going to school the next day with my ears ringing really hard, thinking I would be deaf forever. Tommy Shaw, so underrated. Nice video.

  • You got to see styx and the cars? Probably the 2 greatest bands of all time.

  • Eh, Cars is meh. Styx is great. Queen is better than both though

  • Dang, this rules, I love Styx!

  • James should get one of the amps from spinal tap. then he could crank it up to 11.

  • Big hair. Padded shoulders. Great song. you have to love styx befor they sucked. This was there climax. after this they went down hill. Such a shame. But I still love the old styx songs. Good video.

  • If you like Styx you'll like my music. Just click on my name

  • What are you talking about? He says there ws a time when his parents yelled for playing his music to loud, what kid hasn't?

  • Really? You are not a child of the 70"s.

  • And, by the way, I spoke to a member of Styx a few months ago. Gowan lives near my office.

He was in the butcher shop.

  • Its a rock concert. He was manipulating the crowd. Every band does it.

  • @styxtoury, my parents yelled at me and told me to turn down the "record player" with the Styx album.... about this same year. Wow, I remember this tour.... was, the best of times, was the worst of times..... good concert though. great group.

  • James Young is NOT a prog guitar player! Styx was not a progressive band! They sure wanted to be though!

  • I agree that Styx was not progressive. I've thought that for 30 years. But these days, most people regard them as such, so I'm willing to concede that point. They've got an album cover based on a René Magritte painting; that's progressive.

  • On Wooden Nickel they were very prog rock.

  • @manzanadecoco Edward Van Halen - Jerk, Neal Schon - Jerk, Stevie Ray Vaughan - Jerk...James Young? Not a jerk...

  • @manzanadecoco IKR!!!! I think Im the only one who gave you a thumbs up. God what the hell!?!? He is possesed. >:)

  • Such an underrated guitarest.

  • Crap i spelled guitarist wrong

  • lol u replied to yourself

  • no mames esto es pura historia y al que no le guste vaya y chingue a su madre¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • "No mames ... chingue a su madre." ¡Mis orejas, mis orejas! "No manches", por favor. ¿A quién responde Ud?

  • TOMMY SHAW!!!!!!!!!!

  • J.Y.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • J.Y. > Tommy Shaw

  • I love his enthusiasm.

  • I remember seeing Styx at the International Amphitheater in Chicago on Thanksgiving weekend back in '79!! Their encore was "Miss America" & I nearly lost my hearing because of that one song!!

  • Wow, brings back some great memories. Saw them 4 times from 1977 to 1980.

  • sick vid! how did his guitar not go out of tune after all that whammying lol

  • vintage where was this vid taken..

  • It was taken at the Capital Center in Largo, Maryland which is about 15 minutes outside of Washington DC. If you watch the clip for Lights from this show Tommy makes a reference to being in DC.

  • Dang he was gonna kill with that whammy bar!

  • JY is so friggin under rated!

  • I know he should of played lead more often

  • JY and TS are one of the best pair of guitarist I've seen on stage. I've seen Richards and Woods together in their hey day and even people like Eddie Van Halen with Sammy Hagar, along with others never measured up as a working pair the way these guys do.

  • I TOTALLY AGREE!!

  • You have it totally right.

  • @Azznbad Damn straight! An awesome guitar solo by one of the best in the business!

  • Nice shoulder pads JY.

  • Yeah. My mother took me and my sister and some of our friends for my b-day. Back then shows were comparatively inexpensive. I think 10 bucks a ticket. That show was GREAT! I remember Rush played a couple of nights later and the school had a contest the next Monday something like Styx shirts vs. Rush shirts. It seemed like everybody in the school was at one of the two shows. Great memory.

  • You got your moneys worth, about six years earlier I saw my first show. Bought floor seats to see Led Zepplin for $7.50! The damn T-Shirt I came home with cost more than the ticket I think/

  • I was at this show.

  • u were? lucky

  • YAY XD i have love this a short time ogo xD
